Leftmedia Hits Marco Rubio for Following the Law
Apparently, Rubio’s being enrolled in ObamaCare amounts to a double standard.
The Leftmedia has a knack for attacking good character. First it was Politico and then the Associated Press that took a hatchet to Ben Carson’s presidential campaign last month when he was floating atop the polls. They accused the neurosurgeon of fabricating his West Point account and having financially dubious intentions when he defended a business partner turned felon. Now it’s Marco Rubio’s turn to be unfairly libeled.
Last week, NBC ran an article titled, “Obamacare Foe Marco Rubio Insured Under Affordable Care Act.” According to the article, “Rubio boasts of being the only Republican presidential candidate to have dealt a blow to Obamacare.” The authors took presidential contenders Rand Paul and Ted Cruz to task as well for being or having been enrolled through ObamaCare. NBC wrote, “The Florida senator, however, benefits from a taxpayer-funded subsidy offered only to members of Congress and their staff valued at $10,000, far greater than the subsidies offered to most Americans who purchase insurance on the exchanges.” But here’s the kicker: “The subsidy was established after Congress passed a law requiring its members to be insured under Obamacare, a move that effectively eliminated the employer contribution they received prior to joining the exchanges. The $10,000 subsidy merely re-establishes that employer contribution.”
According to the Leftmedia, Republicans looking for the best deals they can muster under ObamaCare amounts to a double standard. But as difficult as it is for them to understand, Republicans don’t pick and chose which laws they feel like obeying. In essence, they’re arguing, “Can you image electing a president who actually abides by the law?”
