We’ve often noted the lavish expense of Barack Obama’s vacations to Hawaii and other places. But the Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard did some inconvenient math: “Added up, their seven vacations to the island could total over $50 million, and he still has one more likely as president at the end of next year.” Last year’s Hawaiian vacation cost a cool $8 million. According to Judicial Watch, “The known total expense to the American taxpayers thus far for all Obama travel is now $70,880,035.78.” But that’s the known cost. There are myriad hidden expenses — everything from military services to snarled traffic and lost economic productivity — that bring the cost much higher. That’s what happens when the First Family lives like royalty.
