Cologne’s New Year’s Eve Brings 60 Sexual Assaults

Time to rethink Germany’s unquestioning immigration policies.

The disturbing news leaking out of Germany after the New Year’s Eve celebrations in the city of Cologne has implication’s for the country’s immigration policies. Perhaps that’s why police seem less than enthusiastic to investigate the reports of 60 woman that said they were sexually assaulted by groups of men that spoke neither German nor English. Days after the attack, local German media is reporting that police have “no leads about the perpetrators,” the estimated 600 men of North African and Arabic decent who surrounded, groped and stole from women in the city’s center. Recently, Germany has promised to accept about one million migrants.

“German officials are quick to say there’s no evidence so far that any of the perps are newly arrived refugees — on the contrary, at least some of the attackers are reportedly familiar to local cops — but that’s missing the point,” Hot Air’s Allahpundit wrote about the policy implications of the assaults: “The refugee backlash isn’t being driven by fear that newcomers will prove uniquely unassimilable by European countries; the fear is that European countries have already failed to assimilate many Muslims who aren’t newcomers.”

So in the spirit of inclusivity, the mayor of Cologne essentially blamed the victims of these alleged assaults, telling the women in her city to adopt a “code of conduct,” such as avoiding getting close to strangers, asking bystanders for help, and other “helpful” tips that at least one woman employed New Year’s Eve in an attempt to avoid her assailants. That’s not actually terrible advice, but isn’t blaming the victim supposed to be against the politically correct speech code?
