$75 Million for Unusable Building
Must be your government at work.
From the Department of Redistribution, the General Services Administration (GSA) designed and have now completed a $75 million facility intended for federal law enforcement personnel to use. But seeing as how they didn’t actually consult" with the Federal Protective Service (FPS) during the design phase, the FPS can’t use the 180,000 square foot building. No only that, but according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO), “FPS said that *no law enforcement agencies were able to use the facility and that GSA invested resources for a facility that is not suitable for its intended tenants” [emphasis added]. But wait; there’s more: “To the extent that collaboration affects these agencies’ ability to adequately protect facilities, security may be compromised,” GAO concluded. So no communication, $75 million wasted, and compromised security? Must be your government at work.
