Clinton Wonders, ‘Why Is There One Standard for Me’?

That’s a good question.

Hillary Clinton refuses to disclose her Wall Street speech transcripts despite repeatedly insisting she has nothing to hide. That could change, she told CNN this week, if “everybody does it — that includes the Republicans.” Clinton then wondered, “Why is there one standard for me and not for everybody else?” Ironically, we’re wondering the same thing.

She explained to CNN’s Anderson Cooper earlier this month that she accepted $675,000 from Goldman Sachs because that’s “what they offered.” She’ll have an even tougher time explaining why corporate leadership gives predominantly to her campaign. The Washington Free Beacon says, “Hillary Clinton’s campaign has cashed more checks from America’s CEOs and corporate presidents than every other presidential candidate combined. The secretary of state and former first lady has received about $5 million from donors who listed ‘president’ or ‘CEO’ as their occupation, according to finance data supplied to the Federal Election Commission (FEC).”

That’s interesting because during the New Hampshire Democrat debate she asserted, “I went to Wall Street before the crash. I was the one saying you’re going to wreck the economy because of these shenanigans with mortgages.” Really? We’re guessing that Wall Street executives aren’t handing over globs of money just so Clinton can scold them. She’s also stated, “Citizens United, one of the worst Supreme Court decisions in our country’s history, was actually a case about a right-wing attack on me and my campaign. A right-wing organization took aim at me and ended up damaging our entire democracy. So, yes, you’re not going to find anybody more committed to aggressive campaign finance reform than me.” For someone who’s no friend to Wall Street, she sure benefits handsomely from its financial contributions.

Responding to the Clinton email scandal, Jeffrey Sterling, a former CIA operative imprisoned for providing sensitive intelligence to author James Risen, believes Clinton was “completely given a pass, and almost an apologetic pass.” Indeed, her entire career is shrouded in double standards, lies and deceit. Clinton wants to know why she’s held to a different standard. That’s a good question. And her Wall Street transcripts would further prove it.
