One thing we’re learning about the Biden Justice Department: The longer it takes to bring charges, the softer those charges tend to be — so long as you have preferred seating within the Left’s two-tiered justice system.

Take the Hunter Biden case, for example, in which then-prosecutor and now special counsel David Weiss kicked the can down the road for five years or so, dragging his feet so as to allow the statute of limitations to expire on the more serious and more far-reaching charges of tax evasion while focusing on a tightly defined gun charge, all to keep his investigation from accidentally ensnaring President Big Guy. The result? The sweetest of sweetheart deals for the president’s money-grubbing scumbag son. For failing to pay a couple hundred thousand in federal taxes, Hunter Biden got to cop to two misdemeanors while receiving an unheard-of probationary dismissal of a felony gun charge.

Weiss’s plan ultimately blew up in his face when a right-thinking judge refused to rubber-stamp the ridiculous plea deal, but that didn’t make it any less corrupt, any less sleazy.

And then there’s the mysterious Ray Epps, who first came to our attention nearly two years ago and who today is expected to plead guilty to a single measly misdemeanor count of “Disorderly or Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds.” Mind you, this is the guy was captured clear-as-day on multiple video recordings exhorting a huge crowd of his fellow January 6 protesters, “We need to go in to the Capitol!” and whispering sweet nothings into the ear of a fellow protester right before that protester tore down a police barricade and allowed the approaching masses to stream toward the Capitol.

Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

As The Federalist’s headline put it: “On The Darkest Day In American History, Ray Epps Was Just A Little Rascal.”

Independent journalist Julie Kelly, who’s covered the events of J6 more doggedly than perhaps anyone, put it this way: “Epps not only encouraged people to go into the Capitol on Jan 5 and 6, he was one of the first to breach exterior lines, interfered with security, and remained on restricted grounds for more than an hour. At the very least, he should have been charged with 1512(c)(2)” — which is obstructing, influencing, or impeding an official proceeding.

As Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie asked of mob lawyer Attorney General Merrick Garland at the time: “There’s a concern that there were agents of the government, who were assets of the government, who were present on January 5th and 6th during the protests. As far as we can determine, the individual who was saying he’ll probably go to jail, he’ll probably be arrested, but they need to go into the Capitol the next day, is then the next day directing people to the Capitol. And as far as we can find, this individual has not been charged with anything. You said this is one of the most sweeping [investigations] in history.”

Sweeping indeed. Some 1,033 people were ultimately arrested for their involvement in the events that ranged from sightseeing to riot, and federal prosecutors have charged nearly 950 of them. But somehow, for some reason, it took them more than two-and-a-half years to charge one of the most obvious inciters of them all — and then with only a single pinkie-slap misdemeanor. Recall that just two weeks ago, Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio was sentenced to 22 years in prison for “seditious conspiracy,” despite not even having been at the Capitol that day.

As for Epps, columnist Sean Davis notes that he’s been “personally featured on the FBI’s pinned J6 tweet for years.” Indeed, he was right there on the bureau’s “Most Wanted” poster before his likeness was quietly yanked down. Oops.

The FBI took the Fifth when asked about whether it had human assets on site that day. And it most assuredly did — at least if we’re to believe the words of Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter Matt Rosenberg, who was there himself that day and who said, “There were a ton of FBI informants among the people who attacked the Capitol.”

And yet despite all this funny stuff surrounding Ray Epps, despite the DOJ’s singularly unique treatment of this one man among more than a thousand protesters, the mainstream media is trying to troll us as “conspiracy theorists.” A quick scroll through the collection of headlines below will show you just how widespread is the media’s conspiracy to smear the rest of us as conspiracy theorists.

If the Biden DOJ wants to clear the air, dispel the conspiracy theories, and seek the truth about the events of January 6, it sure has a funny way of doing so.
