The Patriot Post® · Harris Wants to Exhume DNC's Buried Autopsy
“There is great significance to the passage of time,” then-Vice President Kamala Harris thoughtfully observed in 2022. It was one of her many famously profound proverbs — a chief reason she’s so beloved and immensely popular.
Okay, okay, I’m kidding.
Harris routinely blabbers nonsensical word salads and then maniacally cackles about it. Maybe that quirky behavior is endearing to some folks, but I’d wager most Americans find it bizarre and off-putting. Yes, she received 75 million votes in 2024, but that could largely be chalked up to Trump Derangement Syndrome and the D after her name on the ballot. She still lost.
Yet 2024 is precisely why I’m bringing up all this “passage of time” stuff. Here we are, a year and a half later, and the Democratic National Committee has not released its promised autopsy of that election. Indeed, the DNC refused to do so in December. DNC Chief Ken Martin insisted this week, “We’ve been sharing those lessons out with donors. We’ve been talking about this with party leaders and activists and others and organizations and campaigns.” They don’t need to release the autopsy, he says, because there’s no “smoking gun” about “the third closest presidential election in the last 100 years.”
Well, Harris wants it made public. NBC News doesn’t offer us any specific quotes from Harris, though it published an exclusive yesterday, indicating that she wants it:
As former Vice President Kamala Harris considers another run for president, she is also signaling that she has no problem with a public airing of what went wrong last time — telling donors she believes the Democratic National Committee should release its buried autopsy of her failed 2024 campaign, according to a person who has heard the conversations.
While she indicated to donors that she had no issue with releasing it, Harris has not discussed the postmortem with DNC Chairman Ken Martin and did not know about his decision to keep it under wraps until it happened, this person said.
“Ahem,” jokes Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey. “Perhaps the person who was handed $1.5 billion to spend over 107 days and still managed to lose and go into significant debt might want to check with Martin first to see what the report actually says.”
Despite a lot of hype, Harris was a subpar candidate when she ran in the 2020 Democrat primaries. In fact, she didn’t even make it to 2020, dropping out in early December 2019 while mired at 3% in the polls. She never even competed in a primary in 2020, much less won one.
Ironically, the same was true in 2024. After backing himself into a DEI corner and picking her as his running mate in 2020, a clearly disabled Joe Biden waited until after Democrats had already held all their primaries to end his 2024 reelection bid. Then they coronated Harris without any, well, democracy at all. So she didn’t have to compete in or win a primary then, either.
Mysteriously, she thinks this résumé qualifies her to run again in 2028. Due to her name recognition, she leads in early polling. Please, bring it on!
Back here in reality, her history is part of the explanation for her loss. For nearly four years, she was a key player in the cover-up of Biden’s cognitive decline and inability to do the job. She benefited from skipping any real nomination process, was handed tons of money, and received fawning media coverage … and then she picked a running mate even more cringeworthy than she was and lost to a much-hated “convicted felon.” All the while, she and her campaign thought they were winning.
So why demand the autopsy? Obviously, Harris thinks its release will largely vindicate her, placing the blame for her defeat on other Democrat players for kneecapping her candidacy. Perhaps it blames voters for racism or sexism.
If so, she overestimates the benefits to her. No doubt, there is plenty of blame to go around, but Harris was the main character in the tragic comedy that was her 2024 campaign. She angrily denounced Trump as a fascist while guffawing at unfunny things on her way to losing all seven battleground states and the popular vote — the first time in 20 years a Democrat had done so.
Further down in NBC’s rumor mill report, “a person familiar with their conversation” relayed that Harris had solicited advice from Race-Bait Master Al Sharpton. As “the first woman and the first woman of color elected to the vice presidency,” NBC summarizes, “her legacy is secure.” Sharpton reportedly also “admonished her that she should consider the possibility that it might be diminished if she were to run and lose again.”
You don’t say. Doubly so if she doesn’t even make it to Iowa again.
In the end, I suppose I’m just speculating. If the DNC doesn’t release that autopsy, we may never really know why Democrats lost in 2024. Even with the passage of time.
