In a country in which nearly 88% of Republicans believe there are two tiers of justice, the FBI’s seizure yesterday of a cellphone belonging to — surprise! — a Republican member of Congress isn’t likely to help matters.

The contents of that cellphone, indeed, that life, which belongs to five-term Pennsylvania Congressman Scott Perry, is clearly part of the FBI’s strategy to help the Democrats tar and feather every last Republican who had the temerity to wonder whether Joe Biden really earned all 81 million of those votes he got in 2020. He didn’t.

Remember: Just because there wasn’t systemic voting machine fraud as Donald Trump claimed, doesn’t mean the election wasn’t rigged by the Democrats, by Big Tech, by the mainstream media, and by social media with nearly half a billion well-placed Zuckerbucks. Because it was.

“This morning, while traveling with my family,” Perry told Fox News, “three FBI agents visited me and seized my cellphone. They made no attempt to contact my lawyer, who would have made arrangements for them to have my phone if that was their wish. I’m outraged — though not surprised — that the FBI under the direction of Merrick Garland’s DOJ, would seize the phone of a sitting Member of Congress. My phone contains info about my legislative and political activities, and personal/private discussions with my wife, family, constituents, and friends. None of this is the government’s business.”

Perry might be relatively unknown outside his district, but he’s making his presence felt in DC, where he chairs the powerful House Freedom Caucus. Beyond that, he’s a retired Army brigadier general and an ally of former President Donald Trump, which, oh, just might have something to do with the snatching of his phone.

Given his relationship with Trump, Perry is certainly familiar with the goings-on of Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 sham committee and its ongoing show trial, as well as its Soviet-style tactics. As National Review reports:

Though it is unclear … why agents seized Perry’s phone, the action comes three months after the House committee on the January 6 Capitol riot subpoenaed Perry along with House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy and Representatives Jim Jordan of Ohio, Mo Brooks of Alabama, and Andy Biggs of Arizona. All five Republican lawmakers had declined the panel’s requests to voluntarily cooperate. It is extraordinarily rare for a congressional committee to subpoena sitting members of Congress.

Perry condemned the panel’s dramatic move at the time, saying, “That this illegitimate body leaked their latest charade to the media ahead of contacting targeted Members is proof positive once again that this political witch hunt is about fabricating headlines and distracting the Americans from their abysmal record of running America into the ground.”

And now they have his cellphone — “they” being the rotten apples within Joe Biden’s FBI, the ones who have weaponized the bureau against Donald Trump and the 75 million Americans who voted for him, and, in so doing, have damaged its reputation beyond repair.

We wonder: How long before we start hearing out-of-context snippets of private conversations between Perry and his trusted colleagues?

Again, as we noted yesterday, there are many good and patriotic people among the bureau’s 35,000 employees, but mealy-mouthed Director Christopher Wray and the rest of the FBI’s corrupt senior leadership, as well as a sizable network of foot soldiers and order-takers, have wrecked what was once the world’s premier law-enforcement organization.

And yet, there may be light at the end of the tunnel. As retired FBI special agent Thomas Baker writes in The Wall Street Journal: “A deep-seated cultural problem continues at FBI headquarters, even years after the Crossfire Hurricane misdeeds were exposed. Still, a ray of hope shines through — whistleblowers who’ve had enough are now coming forward. The FBI needs their bravery, and America needs an apolitical FBI.”

On Baker’s last point, we couldn’t agree more.
