The Patriot Post® · Mayorkas Blames GOP for Open Border
Whether it’s Hillary and Bill Clinton decrying the “politics of personal destruction,” or Joe Biden blaming Republicans for the runaway inflation and high gas prices that have defined his presidency, or Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas accusing the GOP of causing the crisis at the border, the long history of hysterical Democrat finger-pointing reveals that they know they have a problem.
“The political cry that the border is open is music to the smugglers’ ears,” argued Mayorkas, “because they take that political rhetoric and they market it.”
Wait, didn’t Border Czar Kamala Harris just declare for the umpteenth time that “the border is secure”? If that’s so, why is Mayorkas crying about smugglers and “political rhetoric”?
Well, the immediate answer is to deflect from calls for his resignation or impeachment over last week’s revelation that he knew that whole “whipping” story was untrue before he trotted out to peddle a disgraceful lie about the supposedly “horrifying” images. The whipping never happened, but Mayorkas, Harris, and Joe Biden all threatened punishment for the Border Patrol agents who were just trying to do their jobs capturing and processing all the Haitians Team Biden had invited to illegally cross the open border.
Confronted by the Dallas Morning News editorial board about that lie, Mayorkas offered the aforementioned accusation and a smug retort to the suggestion about resignation: “I’ve got a lot of work to do, and I intend to continue to do it. That’s my response.” He does have a lot of work to do securing the homeland. Maybe he should get to it.
Instead, he’s carrying out the planned policy of his boss. Thanks to the intentional invasion Biden welcomed, more than three million migrants illegally poured across the border over the last year.
Don’t believe it was deliberate? He told us it was during a September 2019 Democrat presidential debate. “I would, in fact, make sure that there is, we immediately surge to the border — all those people are seeking asylum, they deserve to be heard,” he asserted in just one example of numerous similar statements. “That’s who we are. We’re a nation who says, if you want to flee, and you’re freeing oppression, you should come.”
That was music to the smugglers’ ears. That was what the cartels marketed to people desperate for economic opportunity.
During that same debate, Biden touted Barack Obama’s record in contrast to a cartoonish portrayal of Donald Trump’s: “We didn’t lock people up in cages. We didn’t separate families. We didn’t do all of those things.” Aside from that being false, Biden’s record is far worse, yielding trafficking, abuse, and death, including those 53 migrants who cooked to death in an abandoned truck trailer back in June. They heard Biden’s open-border music and responded. And they paid with their lives.
As for Mayorkas, Senators Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham declared in a letter earlier this month that impeachment is the proper remedy. “Your failure to faithfully enforce this nation’s immigration laws and willful blindness to the very real humanitarian crisis at our southern border amounts to a gross dereliction of duty and a violation of your oath of office,” they wrote.
Continuing on about the drug smuggling by the same folks Mayorkas alludes to — the drugs that are claiming tens of thousands of American lives each year now — Cruz and Graham conclude: “This is gross dereliction of duty and, if not corrected swiftly, could provide grounds for impeachment. We fully expect that in a few months’ time a Republican-led Congress will hold you to account for your willful negligence regarding the security of the southern border and the safety of the American people.”
The idea of actually holding to account a man who has so grossly and deliberately undermined American national security is, well, music to our ears.
