The Left Whips Up Some Immigration Hysteria
Once again, the Democrats and their media enablers have perpetuated a lie to advance their “America Last” agenda.
Henry Cuellar is one of a kind. Literally. Near as we can tell, the Texas Democrat congressman is the only person in his party who didn’t head for the fainting couch over what we now know, definitively, to be a lie: Border Patrol agents on horseback using whips on black illegal immigrants from Haiti.
Take President Joe Biden, for example, who disgracefully threw our Border Patrol officers under the stampede: “It was horrible what you saw. To see people treated like they did, horses barely running over, people being strapped — it’s outrageous. I promise you, those people will pay. … There will be consequences. It’s an embarrassment. But beyond an embarrassment, it’s dangerous. It’s wrong. It sends the wrong message around the world. It sends the wrong message at home. It’s simply not who we are.”
Apparently, “who we are” is a nation that refuses to enforce its immigration laws; a nation that creates fictions in order to distract its people from a man-made border disaster. An estimated 30,000 Haitians illegally entered the United States in September, and most of them have since been released.
Vice President Kamala Harris also chimed in: “There needs to be consequences and accountability. Human beings should not be treated that way and as we all know, it also invoked images of the worst moments of our history, where that kind of behavior has been used against indigenous people in our country and used against African-Americans in times of slavery.” (Harris giggled during her remarks, which is a poker “tell” of sorts — an indication that she’s nervous, and that she’s lying.)
Homeland Security Director Alejandro Mayorkas originally said of the fake whipping claims, “To ensure control of the horse, long reins are used.” However, that simple and honest assessment didn’t age well, and Mayorkas has since changed his tune to align with the administration’s Big Lie: “I made the statement without seeing the images. … We know that those images painfully conjured up the worst evidence of our nations ongoing battle against systemic racism.”
Since when is the enforcement of a nation’s immigration laws “systemic racism?”
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki continued the clown parade, calling the images “horrific.” But she didn’t go so far as to sentence the offending agents. “I have seen some of the footage,” she said. “I don’t have the full context. I can’t imagine what context would make that appropriate, but I don’t have additional details.”
So she has neither “context” nor “details” nor any sense of the difference between a whip and a rein, but, still, it’s “horrific.” As for details, how about this one: “I’ve never seen them whip anyone,” said Paul Ratie, the photographer who took the photos. “[The Border Patrol officer] was swinging it but it can be misconstrued when you’re looking at the picture.”
It could’ve been worse. Much worse. Biden could’ve selected MSNBC’s Joy Reid to be his press secretary — in which case, merely “horrific” wouldn’t have sufficed. Said a hysterical Reid, who by the way still hasn’t been canceled for having authored (and having lied about) all those “homophobic” blog posts: “Should we be looking at the budget of Department of Homeland Security? Because I was not aware that whips. which come from the slave era, slavery era, were part of the package that we issue to any sort of law enforcement or government-sanctioned personnel. Were you aware that was being issued to people, that people had that kind of equipment on them that they could use on humans?”
Reid and her ilk went “full Covington,” as Fox News’s Greg Gutfeld put it. But this is, of course, the same media that told us Donald Trump was keeping kids in cages by using pictures of Barack Obama’s cages. The same media that distorted another famous picture to make Trump look extra cruel.
As for this latest lie, anyone not predisposed to hating their country could immediately see through it — which, we suppose, is why Congressman Cuellar stands alone among Democrats and leftists.
“Border Patrol has had those horse brigades for a while … number one,” said Cuellar. “Number two, they don’t carry whips. And they do not carry lassos. I think the picture you’re talking about, at least the one I’ve seen, is the rein, the rein of the horses.”
Memo to Democrats: How hard was that?
As is so often the case, the Democrats found themselves cornered, so they then resorted to political theater to distract an all-too-willing Leftmedia and a suitably gullible share of the citizenry. And that theater ramped up when Maxine Waters (D-CA) showed up on the scene.
Waters (D-CA) declared: “I’m pissed. I’m unhappy and I’m not just unhappy with the cowboys who were running down Haitians and using their reins to whip them. Who’s paying these cowboys to do this work? They’ve got to be gotten rid of. They’ve gotten to be stopped. It cannot go on. Let people know that they’re trying to take us back to slavery days — and worse than that. What we witnessed was worse than what we witnessed in slavery … cowboys with their reins, again, whipping black people.”
“Worse than slavery,” eh, Maxine?
However deceitful their remarks, the Democrats may well have accomplished their mission. The Border Patrol horse unit in that district has been banned, and these illegal immigrants, and 1.5 millions other illegals, will be coming to a neighborhood near you. But that’s all well and good, Jen Psaki will tell us, because the administration has given them notices to appear at an immigration court within 60 days. And, of course, illegal immigrants never disobey immigration laws.
Perhaps even more deceitful were the crocodile tears of Chuck Schumer, who decried the “hateful and xenophobic Trump policies” being perpetuated by the Biden administration: “The policies that are being enacted now and the horrible treatment of these innocent people who come to the border must stop immediately.”
Schumer’s phony criticism of Biden is meant to give the false impression that the administration is actually enforcing our immigration laws. But, of course, nothing could be further from the truth.
The sad truth is that elections have consequences. And Joe Biden himself is the most disastrous consequence of all.
