Cross-Examination
Texas mass murder: On Saturday in Allen, Texas, a 33-year-old man opened fire on shoppers at an outlet shopping mall, killing eight people and wounding several others. His attack was stopped when he was shot dead at the scene by a law enforcement officer who happened to be there on an unrelated matter. The assailant was an Army veteran who worked as a security guard. It is being widely reported that he held neo-Nazi views and was wearing a patch that read “RWDS,” which is supposedly an acronym for “Right Wing Death Squad.” Predictably, Joe Biden responded to the attack by blaming guns and Republicans. The fact of the matter is that neither Second Amendment supporters nor Republicans have ever or would ever condone such violence, yet President Unity was more than willing to push this hateful and disingenuous smear. Interestingly, we have learned more in 24 hours about this assailant’s motive than the Nashville Covenant School murderer after more than a month. And it’s not for lack of information, as the “transgender” Nashville attacker left a yet-to-be-published manifesto.
Illegals waiting at the border: An estimated 700,000 migrants are currently waiting in Mexico preparing to rush the U.S. southern border as soon as Title 42 ends on May 11. Joe Biden responded to this impending border rush by sending 1,500 U.S. troops to the border. But these troops aren’t going to help secure the border; rather, they are going to help assist immigration officials more rapidly process the anticipated wave of illegal aliens. As Yuma County Board of Supervisor member Jonathan Lines observed, what is transpiring is a “mass migration event.” He noted, “Forty percent of the people coming across are immediately expelled and they’re flown back to their countries of origin” under Title 42. “That goes away on May 11; they are no longer processed out.”
Walensky out: After holding the post for just over two years, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky tendered her resignation on Friday and will be leaving the agency on June 30. Walensky’s announcement came the same day as the World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 no longer a global emergency. While not as high-profile as Dr. Anthony Fauci, under Walensky’s watch the CDC become more beholden to promoting the political narrative of the Biden administration than holding to the science irrespective of political concerns. The elevating of politics over science was most apparent regarding the CDC effectively allowing the teachers unions to write its COVID guidelines for schools, guidelines that failed to follow the science. Walensky had no leadership experience prior to Joe Biden tapping her to head the CDC, which may explain why she deferred to the White House to set the pandemic narrative.
Trump deposition: In an ongoing civil rape trial brought against Donald Trump by E. Jean Carroll, a deposition video of Trump answering questions from Carroll’s legal team last year was made public on Friday. Trump has repeatedly denied Carroll’s allegations, which she first made in 2019, accusing him of sexually assaulting her in 1996. While Carroll has little supporting evidence and a clear publicity motive for raising the dubious allegations, Trump’s performance during the deposition unfortunately only served to provide more fodder for his political opponents. For example, Trump insisted, “It never took place,” but he then added: “And I will tell you I made that statement, I said while it’s politically incorrect, she’s not my type. And that’s 100 percent true. She’s not my type.” At another point seeking to explain his infamous “grab ‘em by the [female genitals]” comment to Billy Bush in the leaked 2005 Access Hollywood tape, Trump said, “That was locker room talk.” But not stopping there, he added: “Historically that’s true with stars. … If you look over the last million years, I guess that’s been largely true. Not always but largely true. Unfortunately or fortunately.” It is off-the-cuff comments like these that make Trump so offensive to many who might otherwise be amenable to him.
Soros rescues Vice: Leftist billionaire George Soros is partnering with Fortress Investment Group to buy Vice Media for $400 million. Last week, the Leftmedia outlet that back in 2017 was valued at $5.7 billion announced it was facing bankruptcy. Acquiring Vice will give Soros yet another media outlet to peddle radical leftist political propaganda in support of Democrats. And, depending on how you value such things, he’s getting it for a bargain price.
King Charles’s coronation: In case you missed it, on May 6th, 2023, all the mass commercial media talkingheads and scribes were singularly focussed on the coronation of King Charles III, and is assumption of the British throne. It was notable that the Archbishop of Canterbury, master of ceremonies, pledged he would be “faithful and true” to the “Sovereign Lord” Charles III, the most decadent and disgraceful royal in modern history. The Archbishop then called on all Crown subjects to pay homage to King Charles, and take this pledge: “I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.” Those words deeply offend the American spirit – as American Patriots we pay homage and allegiance to no man. It is only by voluntary oath that we pledge “to support and defend” the American Liberty enumerated in our Declaration of Independence and enshrined in our Constitution.
