The Patriot Post® · Biden's Border Chaos: Title 42 Edition

The abject disregard for human life that goes into the callous reaction to the ending of Title 42 takes a special kind of demented. And yet here we are.

There are only 20,000 Border Patrol agents. They are already overwhelmed. There have been 10,000 illegals apprehended per day since Monday. President Joe Biden has sent the Border Patrol another 1,500 personnel from the Army to handle the incoming flow.

Recall that then-presidential candidate Joe Biden said migrants should “immediately surge to the border” and that they deserve to be here if they were fleeing oppression. Fast-forward a few years, and our country is poised to face the biggest border surge it has ever faced because of this feckless incompetent in the White House.

To quote DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, “We’ve prepared for this moment for almost two years, and our plan will deliver results.” We suppose that depends on what he means by “prepared,” since we’ve argued the administration intentionally allowed this invasion.

Now, Mayorkas insists, “The border is not open.” Yes, it is.

There have been a lot of comments to the effect of ripping off the Title 42 Band-Aid. The difference being that the backup strategies that have been put in place are too little, too late.

It was so chaotic on Wednesday that Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz sent out an email saying that officers should issue mass paroles with conditions of appearing for a court date if overcrowding becomes an issue. However, these migrants are going to be released without any way of tracking them. The likelihood of them showing up for their asylum court date is very slim. Thursday night was no different. In Yuma, Arizona, the mayor warned residents that illegal migrants were simply going to be released onto the streets.

There was one glimmer of sanity last night. In response to the federal government’s careless actions, one federal judge was able to block such actions. According to Fox News, “Judge T. Kent Wetherell II imposed a two-week restraining order on the Biden administration policy, which would see migrants released on ‘parole with conditions.’”

As for the so-called sanctuary cities, the news that more migrants were soon to be bused their way caused outrage. In Chicago, residents raged at their aldermen for agreeing to even take on more migrants. Interestingly enough, their ire was directed at the southern border not being secure. One angry Chicagoan said: “Build the wall. Make a border.”

This neglect of securing the southern border is a disastrous game of Red Rover, except by their very presence, the illegal migrants have shown they are willing to break any and all rules in order to gain access to the U.S. And because there are so few agents actually patrolling the border (many are on other duties such as caring for and processing the illegals already in custody), there is a high probability that many who are surging to the border will simply disappear into the interior of the United States.

Millions already have, and the new illegal migrants know it.

There are hundreds of thousands of desperate people who are marshaling their presence in Mexico, waiting to cross the border illegally. The purpose of the extra 1,500 personnel that President Biden sent is to make the illegal crossings more orderly, not to repel them back from whence they came.

Once the illegal immigrants cross the border, they dump everything from old clothes to IDs to paperwork to visas. Most of them have no intention of complying with the rules and regulations placed on them by Border Patrol.

Biden conceded that the ending of the Title 42 policy will mean the southern border will be “chaotic for a while.” This just in.

While Mayorkas and Biden claim that their policies will “take time” to work, that the border is secure, and that the migrants will be deterred, the human cost is unconscionable. Women and children are being trafficked. Migrant children old enough to work are being “sponsored,” i.e. trafficked, in menial, low-income, and/or dangerous jobs. Terrorists on watch lists are crossing over. Criminals of all sorts are flooding in. Drugs and other illicit substances are entering the U.S., killing hundreds of thousands of Americans in recent years.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz made those same points yesterday. “Joe Biden, this is your fault,” Cruz said. “The people who are killed crossing illegally, that is your fault. The women who are sexually abused crossing illegally, that is your fault. The children who are brutalized crossing illegally, that is your fault. The people who are dying of drug overdoses — over 100,000 last year — that is your fault.”

Cruz also went right after the preposterous lie that Biden’s policy is compassionate compared to Trump’s supposed callousness. “Come down here President Biden,” Cruz declared. “Stop hiding in the basement, stop pretending this misery is not your fault, stop it. This is not humane. This is not compassionate. This is cruel.”

It is a wave of humanity set to crash over our border. Yes, it is a multitude of people — basically an invasion at the southern border — but it’s also a wave of misery and predation at the expense of the vulnerable and desperate. That wave is set to be unleashed almost unchecked onto the American public.

There will be no hiding this influx of illegal immigrants even from those still intent on closing their eyes to one of Biden’s biggest failures. It is a tragedy, a travesty, and an outrage. One that all Americans are bearing the brunt of either financially or physically.
