The Patriot Post® · Big Medicine Buries Its Sorry COVID History
COVID-19 is over now, a thing of the past, and we rarely think about it anymore. But to the extent that we do, we tend to do so with equal parts wonder and disdain: wonder that it paralyzed us as thoroughly as it did, and disdain that we made so many bad decisions, from masking to lockdowns to forced vaccinations.
Of course, we really didn’t “make” these bad decisions so much as they were forced upon us by our government, which had in turn surrendered itself to Anthony Fauci and the medical establishment and The Science™.
It’s no surprise, then, that the same medical field that got so much so wrong for so long is now eager to cover its tracks; to regain its credibility by shoving all this inconvenient and ignominious history down the memory hole and disappearing it just like the villain O'Brien did in Orwell’s 1984. This is, after all, the same medical community that’s currently under siege for promoting the gender-based mutilation of our children. As political analyst Jazz Shaw writes:
As much as the government probably wishes you would, most of you have hopefully not forgotten how “The Science” unfolded over the course of the pandemic. Pfizer and the rest of the Big Pharma companies assured the government that everything was just fine with the vaccines because they had been doing super serious testing. Outside medical clinics were running trials in parallel. And the government dutifully reported the cheerful news to us, while using all of that “data” to impose lockdowns, mask mandates, and immunity passport systems. But as we have since learned, there really wasn’t all that much testing going on in the rush to get the vaccines out the door.
But wait. Weren’t we all just following The Science? Weren’t we all under the sway of Anthony Fauci because he, in fact, was The Science? Weren’t we all adhering to the guidance of the medical community because it had dutifully done the research and the testing and the reporting and the replication and the verification?
As it turns out, no.
“More than 300 COVID-19-related articles have been retracted,” writes radio show host Kevin Downey, “long after they’d done their damage, due to a lack of scientific truthfulness and ethical guidelines, according to Retraction Watch, a website that monitors retractions of science-related articles.”
Lest you think these were obscure articles published in backwater journals, think again. As Downey notes, it happened to the “best” of them: “The Lancet used fraudulent research when stating that hydroxychloroquine caused an increased risk of heart arrhythmia and even death in patients with COVID-19. This publication was eventually retracted but not until the Norwegian government and the World Health Organization (WHO) used this article as a reason to stop their research into the efficacy of hydroxychloroquine on COVID. Both have since resumed testing.”
Most emblematic of this systemic failure is one man, one unelected bureaucrat, the aforementioned Anthony Fauci, whom we as a nation entrusted with such awesome powers. Donald Trump isn’t one to concede mistakes, but if he were, we suspect his decision to keep Fauci on board as long as he did would be at or near the top of the list.
Just as these memory-holing medical researchers are now doing with their bad science, the tiny technocrat recently tried to rewrite his own COVID history. As our Nate Jackson put it: “Anthony Fauci left his perch atop the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases as the highest-paid federal bureaucrat at the end of 2022, taking his golden parachute and bidding adieu ‘after more than 50 years of government service.’ That ‘service’ included being the point man for wrecking the American economy, undermining the successful presidency of Donald Trump (and thus saddling us with Joe Biden), and ultimately destroying trust in government and medical professionals.”
That dearth of trust has been well earned by both our government and our medical establishment. Next time they try to flex their muscles in such an overbearing and destructive way, and next time the mainstream media labels us “granny killers” for not falling in line, we as a people should give them a good swift kick in The Science.
