"Work as if you were to live 100 Years, Pray as if you were to die tomorrow." --Benjamin Franklin

Fellow Patriots, we made some significant changes this week at The Patriot Post.

When I launched The Patriot as The Federalist back in August of '96, I did so with the mission of advocating for individual liberty, restoring constitutional limits on government and the judiciary, and promoting free enterprise, national defense and traditional American values.

That is a formidable mission.

My objective was to provide grassroots conservatives across the nation with a brief, informative and entertaining analysis of relevant news and policy matters from reputable research, advocacy and media organizations.

That is an equally formidable objective.

Obviously, if we were to have any success with our mission and objectives, we would need an outstanding group of Patriots to manage every aspect of the organization. In addition, we would need an abundance of sound advice.

Today, The Patriot employs remarkably talented editors and staff, and we are blessed with a National Advisory Committee that exceeds the expertise of any publishing organization in the world.

Consequently, The Patriot is now the Internet's leading voice of Essential Liberty, and we have remained true to our mission every day of operation since our inception.

Each day, our staff receives an assortment of gracious e-mail praising "Mark Alexander" for one thing or another. Let me assure you, however, that while those messages are humbling and appreciated, they are misdirected. The Patriot is a team effort. Coaches and colonels may get the credit, but it is the guys on the scrimmage line, and on the front lines, who make it all happen.

This week, as I contemplated Ben Franklin's words, "Work as if you were to live 100 years," one member of our team comes to mind.

Our IT director, Jonathan Connor, has spent the last 10 months working with other staff members -- primarily Creative Director Ron Locke -- in order to completely (and I do mean completely) rebuild the technical architecture of The Patriot. The result is a publication that is no longer bound by the technological limits that had constrained our mission for several years.

This has been a major undertaking -- one that has taken Jonathan away from his young family on more than a few nights and weekends.

Last fall, we launched an interim Web site to get us through this transition.

On Tuesday, Jonathan launched our new Web site, and while most of our users will note the considerable aesthetic changes to the site, it is the custom built architecture holding it all together that will allow us to offer many more features that benefit our readers, further our mission, and carry us well into the future.

Our readers will now have the ability to leave comments on all featured content and opinion. The site navigation has also been made more intuitive. Finally, the ability to share content with others via social networks is greatly improved, and Patriot Post content will be adaptable to more platforms.

In the coming days, we will be adding hundreds of additional resources to our Historic Documents section and a comprehensive site search feature for all content.

Coming soon will be added features like content delivery by RSS/XML and other methods for delivery to iPhone and Kindle. We will also be adding a section for additional essays submitted by members of our National Advisory Committee and other readers who are very knowledgeable in their respective professions.

In short, what the IT team has created is a highly dynamic custom framework -- one that will allow us to rapidly build out new features, and one that will serve as a catalyst for a vibrant Patriot online community.

Managing Editor Nate Jackson adds, "The content on the site is second to none, and all with no third-party advertising. That also means no pagination simply to create more ad 'impressions' like commercial news sites on the Net."

In addition to a lineup of the nation's leading conservative columnists, one of the more significant features we now offer our readers is our Patriot Headlines service.

Your Patriot Post editors and staff review countless news, policy and opinion releases around the clock, evaluating them for reader interest and relevance to our mission, and we post essential news reports to Patriot Headlines. Unlike "Drudge Report" and other news aggregators, we exclude entertainment, lifestyle, weather and other headings irrelevant to liberty.

Our readers are occupied with more important tasks than searching through news headlines, so leave that to us. We will keep it brief and will not distract you with advertising.

Last, but certainly not least, our new Web site will enable us to do a much more effective job of promoting the most important venture we have ever undertaken, the Essential Liberty Project.

On behalf of our staff and National Advisory Committee, I'd like to thank you, our hundreds of thousands of Patriot readers, for supporting our mission, and for remaining so steadfast in support of liberty. It is indeed an honor and a privilege to serve you and we remain steadfast in our commitment to our original mission.

I ready my Patriot Post home page daily. I read the opinions of your contributors, I read every word of Alexander's essays, and my thrice a week "newsletters" as I often call them. I oft times search the archives for Founding Father quotes. In short, this is a resource that I have come to heavily rely upon, and I no longer think I could be equipped to handle things were I not so well informed.

Kudos to you Patriot Post staff, you are doing a wonderful job! May the Lord bless your endeavors on this most important ministry, in an age fraught with deceit.

Even though, being rather old, I fear change - As do all of us seasoned citizens (Just kidding. Most of us who have seen the elephant fear nothing but God) - The new format of The Patriot Post looks good, is rather easier to navigate than the past versions, and the content is just as good, if not better, than in the dim past of last week.

I have been perusing the Patriot Post since '97, when it was The Federalist, as has my 94-year-old mother. Although she won't have anything to do with computers, she looks forward to my handing her printouts of the divers screeds and she tells me that Mark Alexander, and the Patriot staff, deserve medals for keeping her informed of what is actually happening politically. Did I say that she no longer watches any television (except, of course, "Jeopardy," which is mandatory),as she cannot stand the lies and drivel of broadcast television. Cable? No. We live too far out in the boondocks.

In fine: The new format is an indication of the excellence inherent in the publication. Keep it up Mark. You, and your minions, are true patriots and deserving of the gratitude of our embattled nation.

Gentlemen/Ladies/Patriots All,

Thank you for the "Post." I only wish our so called, elected Leaders would read it every time it came out and heeded it as well. This nation is "going to Hell in a handbasket" but not too many of these elected officials seem to give a fat rats butt about it. If they know that obama and his commissars are giving this country away to every stinking freeloader and Illegal Alien, why don't they raise Hell? Protest! Tie up all Congressonial proceedings! Create a sit down until this administration comes to it's senses once again! Hold up the senate proceedings with interruptions. Make the Master At Arms haul the protesters away. Create a stink so someone, anyone, will get the message that..."We're Mad As Hell And We're Not Going To Take It Anymore!!!"

Man...Just Do Something! Even if it's wrong!

Show some Culyons/Ovaries for Crying Out Loud!

This has got to be the last year that the socialists run/ruin our/my country! We have got to get rid of these Dangerous, Damaging, Useless, Arrogant, Ignorant, Incompetent, Abusive, Hypocritical Knuckleheads!

Please keep up what with you're doing, but how about sending the "Post" to as many of these elected boneheads in that vile city by the Potomac as you can. Maybe. just maybe it will take!

"Michelle Obama forebears were slaves!" That is the claim of "a noted researcher" who has traced the FLOTUS genealogical line. Hello? Shades of "Roots!"

There were little, if any, records of birth in the Africa of 15-1600 era. Alex Haley's "Roots" has been noted as something like 60% speculation ( a euphemism for falsity). I submit this is another "speculative" effort to bolster, reinforce, the achievment of BHO. "From slavery to the presidency!" Excuse me, please; she is not the president. He is not descent of slaves. He is not a Negro. He is mixed blood, a "'breed," as mixed bloods were known in the West. Questions are not resolved regarding the eligibility of BHO to be POTUS. In re his actual nation of birth.

This 'news' article, it seems to me, is simply more inappropriate comment to reward the misguided, and now disappointed, folks that voted for this inept person to be POTUS. ---30---

I am from a small town in Missouri. Cameron is getting to be a town that is like every where else. This is a small town of about 6000 people. I subscribed to your email list a short while ago and I am damn glad I did. The only thing is all of us need to stand and take charge just like most of your quotes say too. Most of us don't know enough about the word of law to do it legally. I was raised to handle things the old fashioned way. I like to do business on a hand shake and a word. When there is a problem I like to handle it with a hand. This political bull that every one is suing everyone needs to end. I do not like politics because there is no call for half the crap that goes on. If you wrong someone they should have the right to knock the shit out of you with out worrying about going to jail for assault of getting sued. I beleive that we all need to change this country and we need some leaders who aren't afraid. In front of every courthouse in this country we need to put up a gallo. Every Sunday we need to go back to having public hangings. This would end most of crime and straighten every one out. If we go back to exercising our god given rights and the rights of the constitution we would have a better country. If you commit a crime you neded to pay. The rest of us need to stand up and enforce it.

Just an opinion!

God Bless you all, is the best I can think of. I look to the Patriot Post as a beacon of honesty, and more importantly, as an honest portrayer of the fundamental issues that face us, coupled with the absolutely invaluable commentary of our Founding Fathers, and other contemporary Patriots (i.e. Ronald Wilson Reagan). As vice-chairman of the TEA Party of Gilmer County (.com), you are a precious resource to me, as I forward your site to many people to spread the word, and the dedication to, the continuance of this Republic. The work that ALL of you do is so vital to the preservation of our Nation, that I don't know what reward would be of any significance, other than the knowledge that our children might grow up and prosper in a nation that is returned to the greatness it was, when we were children. I was a big fan when you were the "Federalist". That has not abated one whit. Please keep up the quotes of the Founding Fathers, as I find that to be one of the most important resources I use, provided by you, in my columns and rants. I have other resources, of course, but you are #1!!! There are many times, after reading the Post, that I sit back and say "WOW. There IS a God, and He's right here." (Not that I doubted it anyway. Y'all just shine a light." God Bless you, thank you, and God Bless America. DEO VINDICE-

I am a partially handicapped widow living on limited means. The new administration scares me, not only for my own situation but for the future of my children and their children. Will they be able to enjoy the freedoms that used to be available to every American? I have family members who died on foreign soil for those freedoms. Will people from other countries and cultures shape what is taught in our schools and what cannot be preached from our pulpits? And how long before the real Patriots form a party that will be a viable force at the polls? I identify with the TEA Party and I hope their gathering in D.C. was just the beginning of a movement toward returning the government to the hands and minds of the American people and away from Congress and the Supreme Court. I was watching the Sean Hannity show tonight, and when he was talking to George Stephanopolis about the "safe schools czar" , and George was towing the liberal line, I was so angry I began to think what would be the best way to show these people and their networks that real people could affect their "bottom line" by boycotting their products. If Acorn can be succesfull in intimidation, we the people could do the same without ever going to the streets. As much as it will gall me to watch their channels I will, just to record who advertises with these networks, sothat I can saturate their websites with emails telling them that I will never buy their products as long as they continue to support these networks I dont have a network of other patriots who feel this way, but I will do my part, if you can help me in any way, I would appreciate it. Mark, you and your staff are terrific! I was lucky to find the Patriot Post around eight years ago. Your mission was the same as mine...fighting to save our great nation's liberties. I have watched you grow and continuously improve.

Today, more than ever, we must stand and never waver against the Marxist administration that is trying to tear this republic down. Through good times and bad I have tried to contribute funds that it takes to keep your "ship" afloat, so that you can keep from having to resort to advertising.

In April, I joined with the 912 project to let our corrupt and unconstitutional federal government know that "we the people" have had enough. There are still too many people out there that think we are just a small "astro-turf" group of sore losers from the past election. Like you, we are seeking to take our unalienable rights back and strongly seek our States rights from the federal government.

Your many products have inspired many of the signs that we hold. From the bottom of my heart I thank all of THE PATRIOT POST'S TEAM.

I thank you for a publication that provides me with up to the minute information and commentaries that enable me to stay on top of what is happening in our Government. Jeanne Hicks.

I was directed to your website by someone nearly a year ago and since then it is the only conservative website I read faithly. Thank you for your honest and fearless reporting of 'the way it should be in America', and what is 'going wrong with America'. I am a senior citizen and have seen America for nearly 75 years go continuously down and away from our origins. At this point we are in the most dangerous era and I have become very concerned as never before. Our government needs to be cleaned up! Thank you again for your constant vigilance on the behalf of all American Patriots. God bless you all!

Bravo to Mark and colleagues for adapting communications technology to improve conservative communications. I suspect you may be developing a transformative resource for conservatives as citizens, voters, political operatives, and, most fundamentally, as patriots trying to preserve our personal freedoms in a democratic republic.

As a retired Marine, and a true believer in the unique aspect of our Consitution, our establishment of a set of laws controlling the proposed government before it was established, and as a believer as an absolute in the founding principles that underlie our Consitution, once underpinning our entire Nation and its policies, and and all based on "self evident truth", I count on the Patriot Post to deliver what the founders had in mind for their posterity: the truth about liberty, and the way of a free Nation. No other publication provides such fodder, and one cannot think properly without good quality facts, and teaching a new generation out of their foolishness is impossible without truth to offset the blatant lies the propaganda of public education puts forth.

Without this resource, I would have to work twice as hard to find the references, and the issues of earlier days which specifically pertain to the exigencies we face each and every day with an illegal alien as the presidential imposter, and the social democrats having reached the point they feel they can operate openly, and win. We are up against a wall, and this is one of the best tools of defense available. It has my unwavering support.

The Patriot Post is "the best of the best." I've told numerous friends and relatives of this site and sometimes forward on your columns. You are to be complimented for your excellent work.

Have been in sessions (Military and Civilian) to extol the virtues of the 'new plan' by our 'Officers' and then was left with the task of cleaning the mess afterwards.

Not being negative; i'm just saying, "Let us tread lightly into this new battlefield, things are not as peaceful as they oft appear".

And i would request of our 'Officers' that they not encumber the foot soldier with taking Prisoners; they slow down the advance. i will NEVER leave a comrade behind; the enemy is not my comrade.

As long as Rome accepted 'voluntary' citizens, the Empire remained whole. It's when the Army's task included taking prisoners for the Emperor that the decay from within began.

But then, that's just my opinion.

You guys are a constant source of amazement as to what you do, when you do it and why you do it. I'm an old, former Marine from WWII era, and I thank God for guys like "Corpsman" Timberlake, and I believe every Marine would second that. I never assumed this fantastic publication was a "Mark" only effort, and it is good that we have names that make up the great team working tirelessly under the banner "PATRIOT POST" May God continue to bless this amazing undertaking.

Congratulations!! The following (from your email) in itself is a true blessing to getting to the "meat" of any article!!!"

"The content on the site is second to none, and all with no third-party advertising. That also means no pagination simply to create more ad 'impressions' like commercial news sites on the Net."

I recently commented on Earth's heating and would like to make a a request that ties in with one of my job duties within the Alaska State Defense Force. I do a once a month intelligence report about terrorism around the world. My request is that it would be helpful if the Patriot Post would do a summery of terrorists activities in the country ocationally.

Thanks for the great work.

WERNER MILLER

I WISH I COULD MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT BUT.. RECENTLY (ABOUT 9/21) I STOPPED RECEIVING YOUR ITEMS ALTOGETHER. AFTER LETTING YOU KNOW, YOU TOLD ME THAT COX.NET WHERE MY BULLETINS SEEMED TO STOP. I CONTACTED COX.NET AND THEY, IN TURN, HELPED ME DISCOVER THAT THEY HAD AUTOMATICALLY FLAGGED MY PATRIOT POST ITEMS AS SPAM BECAUSE SO MANY "OTHERS" ARE REJECTING PATRIOT POST ARTICLES AS SPAM. HOWEVER, I AM NOW GETTING THE DAILY QUOTES TAGGED AS SPAM, BUT NO LONGER RECEIVING THE MON, WED, FRI ITEMS, AS I DID BEFORE 9/21. THIS IS A REAL DILEMMA, AS I LOOK FORWARD TO, AND ENJOY YOUR REGULAR BULLETINS (BY WHATEVER NAME YOU TITLE THEM). MY RECENT TELCON WITH COX SUGGESTED THAT I GET BACK TO YOU AND MENTION THE SPAM FLAGGING BY MANY OF THE RECIPIENTS OF YOUR ITEMS AS SPAM WHICH TRIGGERS THE COX SYSTEM TO CLASSIFY THEM ALL AS SPAM. IS THERE SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN DO? I/M AT A LOSS.

THANKS WERNER MILLER

Thank you for bringing the reader comment section back. It is always good to read from other citizens of this country expressing the conservative opinions that I also have. We are facing one of the greatest threats to our liberty this country has ever seen. I believe what you have been working for as a valubable Patriot all these years is essential for this nation to retain the freedom we hold dear. The next ingrediant that needs to be added is for the citizens to not only say enought is enough but to gather together and bare our persuaders to put our government on notice, this is our country and you are not our rulers, you are our represenative government installed with limits. Follow the rule of law as declaired in the constitution or we will remove your tyranical arses.
