Valerie Jarrett’s Communist Family Ties
Obama’s closest adviser has some seriously troubling connections.
Last Monday, two amazing things happened. First, Judicial Watch (JW), a first-rate organization that peels back the onion layers of corruption and gets to the truth, released a story revealing that the father, maternal grandfather and father-in-law of Barack Obama’s Senior Advisor, Valerie Jarrett, “were hardcore Communists under investigation by the U.S. government.” Second, and perhaps even more amazing, unless one is a dedicated news junkie willing to go beyond mainstream media news sources for information, this is probably the first time one is hearing about this story.
The FBI files on Jarrett’s father, pathologist and geneticist Dr. James Bowman, reveal that in 1950 he communicated with Alfred Stern, a paid Soviet agent who fled to Prague after he was indicted for espionage charges. It was ultimately confirmed that Stern conspired to transmit military, commercial and industrial information to the Soviet Union. Jarrett’s maternal grandfather, Robert Rochon Taylor, had a business partnership with Stern as well.
Bowman was also a member of the Association of Internes and Medical Students, a group characterized in Bowman’s government file as one that “has long been a faithful follower of the Communist Party line,” and involved in un-American activities. It is further revealed that Bowman had deep ties to Communists in Chicago. JW also obtained documents from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) revealing the FBI was brought in to investigate Bowman for his membership in a group that “follows the communist party line.” When he was discharged from the Army Medical Corps in 1955, he moved to Iran to seek employment.
JW also obtained FBI files on Jarrett’s father-in-law, Vernon Jarrett. For a period of time, he was part of the FBI’s Security Index and was viewed as a potential Communist saboteur. In other words, in the event of a conflict with the USSR, he was expected to be arrested. The file further reveals he was assigned to write propaganda for a Communist Party front group in Chicago that would “disseminate the Communist Party line among … the middle class.”
Likely that’s because in the 1940s Vernon Jarrett was the first nationally syndicated black columnist for the leftist Chicago Defender, where he wrote pieces extolling Communists such as Langston Hughes, W.E.B. DuBois and Paul Robeson. During the same era, he was a leader of the Chicago chapter of a Communist Party USA (CPUSA) youth organization called the American Youth for Democracy, and he served on a publicity committee for the Communist-dominated Packinghouse Workers Union. In all three of these capacities, Jarrett maintained a relationship with card-carrying Communist Frank Marshall Davis.
That would be the same Frank Marshall Davis who mentored Barack Obama. The Washington Post tried to debunk that characterization of the relationship, yet the Post never explained why the president, who mentioned his relationship with “Frank” 22 times in his book “Dreams from My Father,” deleted every one of those references when the audio version of that book was released.
Robert Rochon Taylor also maintained a relationship with two Communist fronts known as the American Peace Mobilization and the Chicago Civil Liberties Committee. Davis was a member of both groups.
As for Valerie Jarrett herself, the proverbial apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Jarrett was responsible for bringing avowed Communist Van Jones into the White House as the environmental jobs czar — before he was forced to resign primarily for signing a petition insisting 9/11 was an inside job perpetrated by the Bush administration. Jarrett was also involved in the cover-up of the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal, and JW obtained documents connecting her with a series of real-estate scandals, some of which also involved housing projects operated by convicted felon and Obama fundraiser and friend Tony Rezko.
And as ever, Jarrett remains the ultimate White House insider, one who told The New York Times that she and Obama “have kind of a mind meld.” She explained, “[C]hances are, what he wants to do is what I’d want to do.” And when the president was asked if he runs every decision he makes by Jarrett, he didn’t hesitate: “Yep. Absolutely.”
Perhaps someone should ask Obama what level of security clearance has been afforded to a woman marinated in a Communist background, one whom Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank described as being “in a position of unparalleled influence over the president.” The same president who expressed the desire to “fundamentally transform the United States of America” that undoubtedly resonates with Communists in America and around the globe.
So why the media silence about Jarrett’s Communist family? RealClearPolitics columnist Charles Lipson explains their predictable — and utterly corrupt — reaction. “If they loathe the administration, it’s front-page news,” he writes. “If they like it, they spike the story.”
And make no mistake: If Hillary Clinton is elected president, the same “see no evil” media template will be applied to her longtime aide, Huma Abedin, whose deep familial ties to the Muslim Brotherhood/Sisterhood will also be swept under the rug. That’s what happens in a nation with a media so ideologically compromised that their increasing resemblance to George Orwell’s Ministry of Truth can no longer be denied.
It doesn’t get any more fundamentally transformational than that.
