Biden on Running: ‘I Just Don’t Know’
It’s getting late in the game for such equivocation.
Many have pondered the possibility of a Joe Biden presidential run. Charles Krauthammer thinks Biden’s only shot is promising to run for one term with Elizabeth Warren on the ticket. And even then, Krauthammer writes, “Unless she’s indicted, Hillary Clinton will win the Democratic nomination.” But how about Joe’s “fire in the belly”? Is he even up for a run after his son’s death earlier this summer? Answering that question, Biden said, “If I can reach that conclusion that we can do it in a fashion that would still make it viable, I would not hesitate to do it.” Yet he can’t quite bring himself to that point just yet. “The most relevant factor in my decision is whether my family and I have the emotional energy to run,” he said. “The honest to God answer is I just don’t know.” It’s getting late in the game for such equivocation, especially if he’s going to take down the Clinton Machine. No, Clinton is not a good politician and she’s in all kinds of trouble, but the Machine learned a lesson from 2008: Don’t even allow viable alternatives.
