The Patriot Post® · The Relentless Prosecutorial Persecution of Donald Trump
Claiming that he is going to be arrested this week, Donald Trump implored his 500,000 active users on his social media platform, Truth Social, to “PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!” He then triple-downed his plea: “WE JUST CAN’T ALLOW THIS ANYMORE. THEY’RE KILLING OUR NATION AS WE SIT BACK & WATCH. WE MUST SAVE AMERICA! PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!”
More on that in a minute.
Donald Trump is the most persecuted president in American history.
Trump was subjected to a malignant collusion between deep state actors in the FBI and CIA, who used their Leftmedia publicists to promote an insidious effort to undermine his presidency. That collusion, which was originally funded by Hillary Clinton’s campaign in 2016, amounted to a far more dangerous threat to American Liberty than the now-ubiquitously referenced Watergate break-in and conspiracy.
I have no confidence that anyone at the FBI or CIA will be held accountable for that corruption, despite the fact that the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government is taking aim at the politicization of the Department of Justice.
Those relentless attacks on Trump notwithstanding, he accomplished a long list of achievements to make America great again — most of which were undermined after he allowed Anthony Fauci to become the de facto COVID pandemic dictator in control of the U.S. economy and society. Trump’s arrogant, brazen, and brash “New Yorker” attributes, which helped advance his MAGA agenda well in the first three years of his presidency, were undermined by Fauci in 2020 — and it was Fauci who enabled the Demos’ 2020 election bulk-mail ballot fraud to defeat Trump.
As a result, diverting attention to what he claimed were rigged ballot machines and other distractions, on January 6, 2021, Trump invited protests in DC, and after his rally a group of agitators rioted outside the Capitol building while more docile protesters entered the building in order to disrupt proceedings to affirm Joe Biden as the next president.
Of course, denying election results got its start in 2016, when Democrat Party protagonists became “election deniers.”
The short list:
“I absolutely” agree that Trump is an “illegitimate president.” (Joe Biden)
The election was “stolen.” (Hillary Clinton)
“Absolutely right” that Trump “didn’t really win.” (Kamala Harris)
“Welcome to the world of #unpresidented Trump.” (Karine Jean-Pierre)
But Demos get a pass on election denials.
So, what is up with Trump’s claim he is about to be arrested?
First it was the high-profile raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence last August, endeavoring to indict Trump for what Hillary Clinton actually did, after failing to convict him as president for doing what Joe Biden actually did.
You know, the Mar-a-Lago raid was just like those high-profile FBI raids on Biden’s offices and residences to seize classified documents — oh, wait, there were no raids to retrieve classified documents illegally in Biden’s possession.
Now, Trump announced that Manhattan’s corrupt George Soros-backed DA, Alvin Bragg, plans to arrest him for allegedly paying “hush money” to a “adult film star,” Stormy Daniels.
Regarding Bragg’s case against Trump, notably he successfully campaigned for his own election as DA by promising to prosecute Trump, despite the fact federal prosecutors and even Bragg’s predecessor declined to pursue the case because it is an absurd overreach. Once elected, Bragg himself resisted going after Trump, which prompted resignations by his two lead Trump-deranged prosecutors, Carey Dunne and Mark Pomerantz, the latter even writing a book arguing for Trump’s prosecution.
But that was before Democrats determined the indictment would be part of their 2024 strategy, and demanded Bragg move forward with it.
The indictment alleges “falsifying business records in the first degree” in connection with a $130,000 payment Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, provided to Daniels, to silence her claim about a 2006 “relationship” with Trump. Cohen admitted he made that payment, “in coordination with and at the direction of” Trump, plead guilty to lying about it, and went to jail.
By the way, no small irony that Daniels’s attorney was Michael Avenatti, now serving 14 years in federal prison after three different cases resulted in convictions for extortion, fraud, embezzlement and tax evasion, and in one of those cases, stealing from Daniels.
Bragg claims that Trump concealed the fact that his company reimbursed Cohen for the payments without correctly disclosing the payments were “hush money.” That by itself is just a misdemeanor charge for falsifying business records, but if Bragg can prove Trump’s “‘intent to defraud’ included an intent to commit or conceal a second crime,” the second crime being that the $130,000 payment was “hush money” that benefited his presidential campaign, and thus should have been disclosed as a campaign donation, that becomes a felony.
Got that? It’s a sordid affair.
Previously, this kind of sleaze was reserved for Bill Clinton, who paid $850,000 in 1999 to “settle” with one the women he was accused of assaulting – and during his impeachment trial for lying about a “relationship” with a 22-year old subordinate White House intern while president. Hillary Clinton did her best to cover up all those crime scenes. (Notably, the fact Clinton paid out $850,000 while Trump is accused of paying out just $130,000 proves that Trump is better at “the art of the deal”!)
Trump’s assertion about his arrest was prompted by a report that law enforcement agencies are on heightened alert for violence ahead of a possible Trump indictment this week.
After Trump demanded his supporters “PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!” DA Bragg emailed his staff telling them they should brace for violence ahead of an indictment, though he assured them, “Our law enforcement partners will ensure that any specific or credible threats against the office will be fully investigated and that the proper safeguards are in place, so all 1,600 of us have a secure work environment.”
Laughably, this corrupt Demo hack added, “As with all of our investigations, we will continue to apply the law evenly and fairly, and speak publicly only when appropriate.” Except he has no intention of “applying the law evenly and fairly,” and his investigation leak ensured he had no intention of “speaking publicly only when appropriate.”
George Washington University Law School professor Jonathan Turley, a Democrat, derided Bragg’s charade as the “Manhattan DA’s made-for-TV Trump prosecution: "One would say Bragg is outside of his lane, but in this case, he’s on a completely different highway. This is an effort by a state official to effectively prosecute a federal crime, a crime that the Department of Justice decided not to prosecute… This has the feeling of a thrill kill for many on the left, and they need to think seriously about what this [means] for the legal system.”
However, he notes, “Trump faces serious legal threats in the ongoing Mar-a-Lago investigation.” To be clear, this case is differentiated from the Biden case because it is not about taking the documents, it’s about what Trump did with them once the return request had been issued.
Trump’s claims about his imminent arrest resulted in swift condemnation of Bragg by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who correctly declared: “Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump. I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions.”
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan added, “This is a Soros-backed, crazy, left-wing prosecutor…and he is doing this purely political sham.” House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik from New York followed, “I think we should hear Alvin Bragg testify before Congress, under oath, about his vision, the fact that this is wildly political, that this was not pursued by federal courts and that the Department of Justice passed on this.”
Sen. Rand Paul concluded succinctly: “A Trump indictment would be a disgusting abuse of power. The DA should be put in jail.”
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) offered his assessment: “The Manhattan district attorney is a [George] Soros-funded prosecutor, and so he, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety.” As for the specific allegations, he added: “I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair. I just, I can’t speak to that.”
Mike Pence stepped up assailed Bragg: “The fact that the Manhattan DA thinks that indicting President Trump is his top priority, I think … just tells you everything you need to know about the radical left in this country. … It just feels like a politically charged prosecution here.”
Because it IS a “politically charged prosecution.”
Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy declared that Bragg was engaged in “classic, invidious selective prosecution … launched strictly for political purposes,” and denounced the case as “a blatantly partisan exercise of raw power.”
Even former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo criticized Bragg: “I don’t understand why Bragg is putting such emphasis on this case. … I think it’s all politics [and] feeds the cynicism and that’s the cancer in our body politic right now.”
So, what are the Democrats really up too with the Bragg indictment – how are they using this flimsy indictment as a set up for the 2024 presidential election?
Demo strategists anticipated that Trump would set the social media churn machine on fire with the flimsy “indictment” threat, and they banked on that hoping it would ensure he would be the Republican’s 2024 nominee. They are certain that even Biden, (if he was actually going to run, which he is not), could defeat Trump again, using their 2020 bulk-mail ballot fraud strategy. The are working overtime on this strategy.
Even if Trump is not the nominee, Demos want to keep his base supporters angry enough to ensure Trump has the momentum to create enough fratricidal division in the primary to fracture the Republican Party and pave a path for another Democrat victory.
Typical of how Beltway political analyst get this latest dust-up wrong, Charles Hurt insists that the media has fallen for Trump’s “Let’s get arrested!” hyperbolics: “The political press, which has vowed to ignore Mr. Trump this time so that he doesn’t get reelected — fell for it once again…” Hurt has this exactly backwards. The Leftmedia, with their right media counterparts dullardly playing along, did not fall for anything. These Demo Party publicists want Trump to destroy the Republican primary so the Demo nominee can win.
Democrat strategists know this case, combined with likely indictments related to the Mar-a-Lago classified docs case, can be dragged out through the 2024 election in support of this “divide-and-conquer” strategy. Anyone who fails to acknowledge this strategy, or underestimate its calculated outcome, need only consider the outcomes of the 2020 election and how the 2022 midterm Republican “red wave” turned into an anemic “red ripple,” despite Biden’s abysmal approval record.
Demos stopped a big Republican midterm sweep by continuing their 2020 strategy – running against Trump. They have calculated this strategy will work again – and it may work according to their plan.
Bragg also succeeded in baiting Trump into risking the incitement of some of his followers to violence by issuing his “PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!” demand.
Clearly, 99.999% of Trump supporters, past and present, are law-abiding American Patriots, but as was grossly demonstrated by the J6 riot, some of his followers can become unhinged and violent. Repeatedly calling for protests on Truth Social, where Trump’s most vociferous residual supporters hang out, was at best, careless.
As for my criticism of Trump for taking the bait, let me ask this question: How do you know if a friend has fallen into a personality cult trap? First and foremost, they can’t tolerate even the most reasonable criticism or dissenting views regarding the personality who has entrapped them. On those occasions when we criticize Trump, predictably there is some hate mail from those who have fallen into that trap, those whose pursuit of American Liberty has been subordinated by their allegiance to Trump. Notably, such complaints never include any modicum of a reasoned rebuttal.
Friends don’t let friends join personality cults!
Finally, on a lighter note, our favorite satire site, The Babylon Bee, reported this pending arrest under the title, “Manhattan DA Announces Plan To Get Trump Elected In 2024.”
