Yesterday, Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh nearly reaped the whirlwind. Nearly paid the price. Just like Chuck Schumer warned he would.

If then-Senate Minority Leader Schumer had a shred of human decency, he’d have resigned in disgrace the very moment he realized what he’d done — the very moment in March 2020 when he stood before a DC mob at the steps of the Supreme Court and threatened Justices Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch by name: “I want to tell you Gorsuch, I want to tell you Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

Chuck Schumer, though, is not a decent man. And so, here we are. Here in a suburban DC neighborhood where Justice Kavanaugh lives with his wife and two young daughters. Here where a 26-year-old California man took a cab to Kavanaugh’s home with a suitcase and backpack containing a black tactical chest rig and tactical knife, a Glock 17 with two magazines and ammunition, pepper spray, zip ties, a hammer, screwdriver, nail punch, crow bar, pistol light, duct tape, hiking boots with padding on the outside of the soles, and other items.

As National Review reports: “He told police he intended to break into Kavanaugh’s house and kill him, because he was upset about the leaked abortion opinion and the Uvalde school shooting, and ‘believed that the Justice he intended to kill would side with Second Amendment decisions that would loosen gun control laws.’ The complaint says that he found Kavanaugh’s address on the Internet.”

How might Justice Kavanaugh’s address have made its way to the Internet? And how, in light of Nicholas Roske’s murderous intent, are Schumer’s comments not seen as an incitement to violence? Indeed, with House Democrats soon to peddle their shamefully one-sided work of historical fiction about the “insurrection” of January 6, how are Senator Schumer’s vile threats not seen as an attempted insurrection against one of our three branches of government?

Imagine the firestorm if Roske had been a pro-life zealot and had been arrested with that same weaponry outside of liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s home.

It’s hard to imagine because we on the Right don’t tend toward political violence. But, but, January 6! shriek the denialist Democrats. And, yes, January 6 was certainly a riot. But the only people who lost their lives on that day were Trump supporters, and only one of them was to violence — the unarmed woman shot by Capitol Police. And there’s a big difference between brandishing Trump flags and MAGA hats on the one hand and brandishing a Glock 17 on the other hand. There’s a big difference between protesting a rigged election and announcing one’s intent to kill a sitting Supreme Court justice.

Let’s face it: Political violence — and political terrorism — almost always comes from the Left.

“The court filing,” the Washington Examiner reports, “said Roske was dropped off outside of Kavanaugh’s home at 1:05 a.m. … saw two U.S. deputy marshals standing guard, turned and walked down the street, and then called a Montgomery County police hotline to say he had suicidal thoughts. He was quickly arrested by police and taken to a police district, where he was read his rights and agreed to talk to agents.”

This is a sick young man, and he didn’t grab these murderous thoughts out of thin air. He grabbed them from the world around him — from the mainstream media, and from Democrat politicians, and from the leftist Mob.

And thanks to the Democrats’ two-tiered justice system, that Mob has operated with relative impunity — from desecrating landmarks to toppling statues to setting police stations and federal courthouses afire to tossing Molotov cocktails into police vans.

Imagine, though, if history had played out differently. Imagine if those deputy marshals weren’t on post and vigilant during those wee hours when Nicholas Roske arrived. By the grace of God, those marshals likely prevented a political assassination and a rending of our nation. Imagine. Would we on the Right have stood for this bloody coup against our third branch of government and its lone constitutional bulwark? Would we have allowed Joe Biden to appoint another hard-leftist to replace a murdered Justice Kavanaugh?

The mainstream media has already moved on from this near-assassination and back to January 6. Nothing to see here, says the home page of NBC News and the home page of CNN.com.

It reminds us of the last would-be leftist assassin, the Bernie Sanders supporter named James Hodgkinson, who, back on June 14, 2017, opened fire on a group of congressional Republicans who were practicing on a nearby Alexandria ball field for their annual Congressional Baseball Game. Hodgkinson hit a lobbyist in the chest and then-House Majority Whip Steve Scalise in the hip. Scalise nearly bled to death on the field.

Hodgkinson had in his pocket that day a target list with names of Republican congressmen that included their physical descriptions. And yet a disgracefully partisan FBI later informed GOP House members that the attack was a case of “suicide by cop.”

Getting back to this latest act of violence, our Mark Alexander posted a thorough data analysis irrevocably linking the spike in violence nationwide in the last two years to the fact Democrats at the national, state, and local levels willfully provoked and promoted mass lawlessness while they simultaneously demoted law enforcement capability.

Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley has it right: “The arrest of an armed man outside Justice Kavanaugh’s home shouldn’t surprise any of us. But it should be a sobering moment for all of us. A jurist should not have to wonder whether he can both serve and survive on our Supreme Court.”
