Patriots, I am in New Orleans today at the World War II Museum with my favorite War II Vet, my father. The guest column this week is from my colleague, Neal Boortz, a lawyer and nationally syndicated radio host. Given all of the commencement speeches delivered in recent weeks, I invite you to read the commencement speech Boortz has never been invited to deliver, as excerpted from his book by the same title.

Paraphrasing the ancient Chinese warrior Sun Tzu: To defeat your opponent you must know your opponent and know yourself.

If our generation of Patriots is to succeed in our mandate to extend the blessings of American Liberty to our posterity, then we must both know the depth of our devotion to Liberty and understand its enemies. Indeed, we must fully comprehend those adversaries beyond topical categorization by political and other affiliations.

Memorial Day provides a stark contrast between the best of our nation's Patriot sons and daughters versus the worst of our nation's civilian culture of consumption. Indeed, Memorial Day has been sold out. And it's no wonder, as government schools no longer teach civics or any meaningful history, and courts have excluded God (officially) from the public square.

That notwithstanding, there are still tens of millions of genuine American Patriots who will set aside the last Monday in May to honor all those fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coastguardsmen who have refreshed the Tree of Liberty with their blood, indeed with their lives, so that we might remain the proud and free.

In advance of his annual proclamation of June as "National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month," or more accurately, "Gender Confusion Month, " Barack Hussein Obama ceremonially announced his support for so-called "gay marriage." I note "ceremonially" because while this purely political announcement had no effect on the legal status of homosexual relationships, it certainly moved the needle to the left in regard to the moral status of such "unions."

In the early morning hours of Sunday, 15 April, two thugs burglarizing neighborhood cars decided to burglarize a house. Unknown to the perpetrators, the house is owned by a Marine from neighboring Camp Lejeune. Life is tough, but it's tougher if you're stupid.

There was a group of Tennessee Patriots whose efforts to defend Liberty at home in 1946 were noble. This group of World War II veterans took up arms to restore Rule of Law in the quaint east Tennessee town of Athens (McMinn County), between Chattanooga and Knoxville. That fight became known as the Battle of Athens.

With the backdrop of media diversions on Tuesday morning, I was contemplating topics to address this week. Above all the incoming e-mail commentary on the previous day's petty political punditry, a new batch of messages arrived in a private inbox. Among the latter communications was one from a young 1st Lt. Army Ranger stationed in Afghanistan.

Today, April 19th, is the 237th anniversary of Patriots' Day, marking the opening salvo of the American Revolution and the beginning of the greatest experiment in human Liberty. Take a moment to revisit the events of that day, and share this account with those who may never have had an introductory lesson in civics -- this is the story of a small group of American Patriots who irrevocably altered the course of history toward a new bearing of Liberty.

Last week, seeing that his signature legislative achievement was in jeopardy, Barack Hussein Obama fired a shot across the bow of the Supreme Court as it considered the constitutionality of his so-called "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" (a.k.a., ObamaCare). Obama warned the court against "judicial activism."

In this Holy Week of Easter, one of the socialist communiqués destined for my "Know Thy Enemy" email folder was a promotion for a new "award-winning" film, "Jesus was a Commie." The film was described as "an avant-garde conversation about critical social issues," and it supports the errant pop-thesis that Jesus advocated socialism.

Barack Hussein Obama and black leaders from across the nation gathered in Obama's hometown of Chicago this week to protest the violence that occurred over the weekend of March 17-18. (Or at least they should have!) In just 48 hours, 10 people were murdered and at least 40 others were seriously injured. Most of the victims were 15-30 years of age and the assailants were black or Latino.

Of course, neither Obama nor those black leaders have said a word about all of the violence in Chicago, opting instead to rally black voters with a fresh Florida race bait lure, specifically using the death of Trayvon Martin, age 17, as political fodder to keep their most loyal constituency confined to the Democrat Party Plantation.

Amid all the questions about which GOP campaign themes will defeat Obama this year, one that conservatives had better start asking is, "What message will draw female voters back to the right side of the political ledger?"

Under cover of the Republican Presidential Primary debates about how to defeat Barack Hussein Obama's socialist agenda and his plan to fund the final chapter of that agenda with enormous tax increases, Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN, no relation!) and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) have teamed up to promote one of the largest tax increases in U.S. history -- a heavy levy on all Internet sales.

The infighting between the four Republican presidential candidates comes at great expense to their campaign coffers and, more important, to their ability to defeat Barack Obama. If the strident attacks continue for the next 12 weeks until the primaries are complete -- or worse, right into the Republican Convention in August -- there will be little time to form a unified front and focus all their energy and resources on defeating Obama. To that end, the Republican candidates do a great disservice to the fight to restore Liberty as it was bequeathed to us and, by extension, to our posterity.
