The Patriot Post® · Biden's Masking and Vaxxing Mandates
In his latest effort to expand statist power, ostensibly to protect Americans from the ChiCom Virus, our feckless leader Joe Biden has started issuing vaccination mandates, and is priming the pumps to re-mask Americans, including those who have already been vaccinated. (So, if the vaccines work, why does Biden continue to insist that inoculated people need to be masked?)
In his mixed message remarks, Biden declared: “In a significant part of the country … you don’t have to put [a mask] on — like in my home state of Delaware, where I lived in New Castle County, [and] where I was yesterday in Pennsylvania — because people got vaccinated. They got vaccinated. They don’t need a mask when the majority — the vast majority of people got vaccinated.” Actually, in New Castle County, the full vaccination rates are on par with the national average, about 50%.
Biden then ominously insisted that in 65% of the nation, people needed to wear masks again, arguing, “We’re seeing a spike in cases because of this new form, this new variant, called the Delta variant.”
Indeed, there is a nationwide surge in Delta COVID cases, particularly in Florida and Texas, and those surges will likely reach record highs, though there is a big reduction in cases v deaths this time around. The reason may be that in warmer states, residents are spending more time in closer quarters inside, though the CDC intentionally overstated the infection rate in Florida.
For a coronavirus to be surging in the summer months is troubling, but the key data point to consider moving forward is not infections, but deaths.
Biden’s pointedly warned Gov. Ron DeSantis and Gov. Greg Abbott that if they are not complying with his mandates, “get out of the way.” Of course his remarks are all about political gamesmanship, not public safety.
In response, DeSantis said: “This is a guy who ran for president saying he was going to, quote, ‘shut down the virus.’ And what has he done? He’s imported more virus from around the world by having a wide-open southern border. He’s facilitating who knows what new variants are out there…coming across that southern border. We can either have a free society, or we can have a biomedical security state. And Joe Biden suggests that if you don’t do lockdown policies, then you should get out of the way. But, if you’re coming after the rights of parents in Florida, I’m standing in your way. If you’re trying to deny kids a proper in-person education, I’m going to stand in your way… If you’re trying to restrict people, impose mandates, if you’re trying to ruin their jobs and their livelihoods…I am standing in your way! So why don’t you do your job? Why don’t you get this border secure? And until you do that, I don’t want to hear a blip about COVID from you.”
Biden tried a humorous reply to a reporter’s question about the DeSantis response: “Governor who?”
DeSantis spontaneously replied: “I’m not surprised that Biden doesn’t remember me. The question is what else has he forgotten?” He then reiterated: “Biden’s forgotten about the crisis at our southern border, I can tell you that. Biden has forgotten about the inflation that’s biting the budgets of families all throughout our country. Biden has forgotten about the demonstrators who are fighting for freedom down in Cuba. And Biden’s even forgotten the Constitution…”
Regarding Texas, Sen. Ted Cruz responded: We just had news breaking today that…the Biden administration has released over 7,000 illegal aliens who were COVID positive just in one Texas city, in the city of McAllen… Joe Biden likes to talk about this pandemic, well I’ll tell you what, the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris was a super spreader event because their open border is endangering not just the people of Texas but people all across the country.“
Despite Biden’s claims, the dreaded ”Delta variant“ is not new, nor does it pose the fatality risk of COVID-19. But it is not new. In fact, it accounted for more than 62% of infections before Biden’s missed July 4th deadline, when he said he would give us permission to gather in small groups "in your backyard … and have a cookout or a barbecue.” But COVID deaths, the fatality risk, is very low for those who have been vaccinated or have natural immunity – much lower than the death to infection ratio prior to vaccinations and natural immunities in January.
The reason for this is two fold. First, many of the Americans who are vaccinated, were motivated to do so because they at are higher risk for a serious infection – so their risk of death is now greatly reduced. Second, many who are not vaccinated have chosen to opt out because they are in groups that are at much lower risk of serious infection and death. The combination of those two factors accounts for the low fatality rate.
So, what was it that prompted the latest CDC resurrection of its masking mandates? Turns out it was an annual gathering of homosexuals in Massachusetts, where there was a lot of heavy drug use, promiscuity, and infection among men who had already been vaccinated. Go figure. Fortunately, most of America does not subscribe to this conduct.
Remember when Biden was asked if he thought vaccination and masking should be mandatory? He responded flatly: “No, I don’t think it should be mandatory. I wouldn’t demand it to be mandatory … just like I don’t think masks have to be made mandatory nationwide.” In May, Biden reiterated his insistence that masking should not be mandatory for those who are vaccinated: “If you’ve been fully vaccinated, you no longer need to wear a mask. Let me repeat: If you are fully vaccinated, you no longer need to wear a mask.”
But this week, asked about his repeated statement, Biden snapped back, “No, I didn’t say that.”
For clarification, Biden’s parrot, Jen Psaki, was asked, “If vaccines work, then why do people who have the vaccine now need to wear masks?” She responded: “Because the public health leaders in our administration have made the determination — that is a way to make sure they are protected, their loved ones are protected.” In other words, because we say so! Just shut up and comply, unless of course, you are among the Demo-politicos who are self-exempted from their own mandates.
The go-to “public health leader” is, of course, Anthony “Flip-Flop” Fauci, the non compos mentis bureaucrat who insists: “The recommendations and guidelines have been changed to say If you are vaccinated, even though you are vaccinated, when you are in an indoor public setting in an area of the country with a high degree of viral dynamics … then you need to wear a mask even though you are vaccinated.”
Got that?
And what about masking children? Fauci endorsed the idea that universal masking of children over two years of age was “a reasonable thing to do.” To that end, Biden also endorsed the latest CDC “masking science” clown show, saying: “The CDC has provided clear guidance on how all schools can safely protect the kids and bring them back to the classroom: every student wear a mask. It’s that simple.”
But the viral threat to children has been grossly overstated and the efficacy of masking in questionable. Apparently teacher unions are reluctant to follow the science.
Dr. Marty Makary, a professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Carey Business School, notes: “A tremendous number of government and private policies affecting kids are based on one number: 335. That is how many children under 18 have died with a Covid diagnosis code in their record, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Yet the CDC, which has 21,000 employees, hasn’t researched each death to find out whether Covid caused it or if it involved a pre-existing medical condition. Without these data, the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices decided in May that the benefits of two-dose vaccination outweigh the risks for all kids 12 to 15. I’ve written hundreds of peer-reviewed medical studies, and I can think of no journal editor who would accept the claim that 335 deaths resulted from a virus without data to indicate if the virus was incidental or causal, and without an analysis of relevant risk factors such as obesity. My research team at Johns Hopkins worked with the nonprofit FAIR Health to analyze approximately 48,000 children under 18 diagnosed with Covid in health-insurance data from April to August 2020. Our report found a mortality rate of zero among children without a pre-existing medical condition such as leukemia.”
That notwithstanding, director of the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Francis Collins, decreed this week: “Parents of unvaccinated kids should be thoughtful about this, and the recommendation is to wear masks [at home] as well. I know that’s uncomfortable. I know it seems weird, but it is the best way to protect your kids.”
And when Fauci was asked about Collins’s remark, he replied, “It’s very simple, he misspoke.” That clears it right up!
Further, concurrent to Biden’s CDC re-masking mandate, his former top COVID pandemic adviser, Dr. Michael Osterholm, declared that the cloth and disposable masks 99% of Americans are using, are not effective.
That’s what Fauci said in March of 2020: “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is. And, often, there are unintended consequences — people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.” That was later classified as just one of Fauci’s “noble lies.”
And, what about those who have already recovered from the virus? Legal analyst John Hinderaker notes: “One way in which the CDC’s unscientific approach is currently on display is its refusal to acknowledge that [recovering from] covid confers immunity to the disease, to the same extent, and probably more, than being vaccinated. This stands to reason, since the whole point of vaccination is to mimic the effect–production of antibodies–of having a disease.”
In fact, the latest CDC order to vaccinate on top of natural immunities is demonstrably flawed, and the one study cited to support that decision does not actually apply.
Clearly, the power-drunk Biden administration is charging forward on all mandate fronts, using the panic pandemic as its platform. In the inimitable words of that great 20th-century philosopher, Yogi Berra, “It’s like déjà vu all over again.”
The Biden administration’s “fear and angst” masking strategy is to scare folks into getting vaccinated. For the record, I don’t oppose vaccinations, but I do oppose mandatory vaccination. But many Americans across party lines, have had enough, and Biden’s authoritarian rule is causing his approval ratings to plummet.
Biden’s mandates are facing strident opposition from conservatives across the nation. That opposition starts in the nation’s Capitol, where Nancy Pelosi has ordered that vaccinated members and staff who are not masked be arrested.
Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy declared, “Make no mistake — the threat of bringing masks back is not a decision based on science, but a decision conjured up by liberal government officials who want to continue to live in a perpetual pandemic state.” That prompted the irrevocably moronic Pelosi to label McCarthy a “moron.” Noting the fact that there is no mask mandate in the Demo-controlled Senate, McCarthy responded, “Can she tell me where the science in the building changes between the House and the Senate?”
Perhaps those arrested can get Kamala Harris to provide bail, as she did for the burn, loot, and murder thugs last summer?
As for vaccination mandates, which would require evidence of vaccination be carried at all times, those plans are in the works. (Perhaps they will be required to vote!) Some Demo governors are already advocating proof of vaccination proposals, including New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who says businesses should adopt a vaxxed-only entry policy for those who verify they are vaccinated. Expect to see similar verification policies enacted for permission not to not wear a mask in public.
At least Biden is not ordering the roundup of unvaxxed Americans and putting them in the CDC’s planned green zones or relocation camps, yet, though he is considering vaccine passports for interstate travel.
Bottom line: The Biden administration’s contradictory messaging, particularly as it regards masking for those who have already been vaccinated because of “breakthrough” infections, undermines Biden’s vaccination goal.
Reinforcing the contradictions, in Los Angeles, the first Demo-gapolis to reinstitute mask mandates for the fully vaccinated, one official noted, “As more people are vaccinated, the number of fully vaccinated people becoming infected will increase…”
So, when exactly does the pandemic panic end? As Ben Shapiro notes, it started with “Two weeks to slow the spread.” Now he observes the obvious: “There is no limiting principle to this, no end goal. There is only a bureaucratic and political elite unwilling to treat citizens as adults, recognize their own limitations and leave us all the hell alone. And if we accept that, we deserve nothing less than subjection to their paternalistic control.”
But Biden and company insist you stop questioning the truth according to Big Gov. In fact, according to Anthony Fauci: “Put aside all of these issues of concern about liberties and personal liberties and realize we have a common enemy, and that common enemy is virus.”
Just put Liberty aside… I am reminded of the timeless wisdom of the elder of our Founders, Benjamin Franklin, who observed, “They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
Inevitably, the central government’s response to the ChiCom Virus pandemic under the now-authoritarian control of Anthony Fauci will devolve into mandates that are predicated on 10% science and 90% power accumulation.
P.S.: According to Biden, “350 MILLION Americans have already been vaccinated!” According to the latest census, there are 328 million Americans. O wait, he is including 31 million illegal immigrants. Problem solved.
