Select quotes from our daily Short Cuts section
This Week’s BIG Lie: “The country is better off than when [Joe Biden] took office and we should all be deeply grateful for that.” —Barack Obama, who declared when Biden was a candidate, “Don’t Underestimate Joe’s Ability to F*ck Things Up”
BIG Lie runner-up: “I can’t believe we’re still talking about this, but my emails… As Trump’s problems continue to mount, the right is trying to make this about me again. There’s even a ‘Clinton Standard.’ The fact is that I had zero emails that were classified.” —Hillary Clinton. The FBI determined she sent or received 110 classified emails, which is a far more egregious national security threat than hard copies of documents in a hard room in Trump’s Secret Service-protected home.
BIG Lie runner-up: “The reason that made me run — I decided — it was when you saw those people come out of the fields down in Virginia carrying torches — literally coming out of the fields carrying torches, with swastikas, chanting the same anti-Semitic bile that was chanted in — literally the same anti-Semitic bile chanted in Germany in the ‘30s accompanied by the Ku Klux Klan. And the guy that I beat in this … last election — when they asked what did he thought, he said there were really fine people on both sides.” —Biden, repeating the same totally debunked lies
This week’s Non Compos Mentis Award: “I don’t consider any Trump supporter a threat to the country.” —Joe Biden, September 2 (“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic.” —Joe Biden, September 1)
Non Compos Mentis Runner-up: “That’s not how it works. … It’s not like somebody walks over.” —White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre when asked, “Somebody unvaccinated comes over on a plane. You say that’s not OK. Somebody walks into Texas or Arizona unvaccinated, they’re allowed to stay. Why?”
Non Compos Mentis Runner-up: “By any traditional metric, we have experienced one of the quickest economic recoveries in our modern history” —Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen after two straight quarters of GDP contraction, which is a traditional metric for recession
“We understand something that MAGA Republicans in Congress don’t. Wall Street didn’t build this country. Working people did.” —Biden, who took 2.5 times more campaign graft from wealthy Wall Street donors as did Trump
“You would think that [if] Republicans really cared about reducing inflation, they’d vote for the Inflation Reduction Act.” —Biden
“The presence of the Marines at the speech was intended to demonstrate the deep and abiding respect the president has for these service members, to these ideals, and the unique role our independent military plays in defending our democracy.” —White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre
“My experience here has given me a front-row seat to how deeply and unconsciously, as well as consciously, so many people in this country hate women. And they hate women of color. People ask me questions about the future. And realistically, I can’t even tell you if I’m going to be alive in September. And it’s not just the right wing. Misogyny transcends political ideology: left, right, center.” —Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)
“I really believe this is why God gave us two arms — one for the flu shot and the other one for the COVID shot.” —White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha
“If you don’t want a Civil War, vote for Democrats in November. If you do want Civil War, vote Republican.” —"Comedian" Kathy Griffin

On the Record: Democrat “Election Deniers”
Democrats have a lengthy history of refusing to accept the results of elections they lost.
Kamala Harris’s Greatest Hits
Her ability to produce word-salad nonsense is second to none.
Satire: Biden When He Sees Your Family Starving
Let them eat rhetoric.
And a miscellaneous mention
According to the AP: “A forensic psychology professor … said bias killings are often perpetrated by … typically young white men.” This narrative is propagated 24/7. Fact is the vast majority of murders in the U.S. are committed by young black men, as are the vast majority of interracial assaults. The left’s “white perpetrator” narrative only holds up on the assumption that all those black-on-white assaults have no racial component — which is nonsense.
