Two months ago, I had the privilege of taking part in a men’s conference with some incredible men of God. Somebody Cares Tampa Bay put together an event that impacted hundreds of men to be warriors for the faith!

One of the speakers was Lt. Col. Allen West, one of my heroes of the faith for some time now. I have prayed for this warrior ever since politically correct military lawyers tried to court-martial him for doing his job in Iraq. Not only did he serve his country with distinction, but his commitment to Christ inspires me.

Shirley and I had the pleasure of driving him around over the weekend of the conference and sharing several meals with him. I came away from that weekend having received much more than I gave. But my time with Col. West caused me to wonder if there were any more valiant men of God who have the courage to stand against the rising tide of socialism/Marxism in our country.

Col. West is the executive director of the American Constitutional Rights Union. He knows that so much of what is happening in our country is due to a lack of understanding of what the Constitution actually says. West’s mission is to change that lack of knowledge.

I have to admit, I was constitutionally illiterate until I became involved and supportive of The Patriot Post. If we do not have a clear knowledge and understanding of what the Constitution and the Bill of Rights say, we can be easily deceived by those who say they are only following the Constitution (Nancy Pelosi, call your office).

Legislation passed by Congress is to be judged by the guardrails of the Constitution. For years, we had Supreme Court justices who literally made up laws out of whole cloth, often citing a “living Constitution.” In other words, the Constitution said whatever they wanted it to say. Regardless of what you think about Donald Trump, he changed the Court with justices who follow the Rule of Law.

If we applied what the Constitution actually says, most of what government does would be unconstitutional. It’s not surprising that progressives want our children to be ignorant of our Founding Fathers and their wisdom.

The same could be said about the Word of God. Liberals fear the Bible like vampires fear garlic! Many want to change what Scripture clearly states as true. They do this because applying Scripture stands in contradiction to their lives. Now you understand why the world is in the condition it is!

There’s a principle that applies to all of life: “What one generation tolerates the next generation will embrace.” Baby Boomers tolerated sex, drugs, and rock and roll. What their children embraced are the destructive lifestyles that are devastating our culture.

The Church needs to own up to our part of today’s moral condition. We Christians abandoned the cultural battlefield, leaving generations of our youth to be indoctrinated by the far Left. We have substituted character and integrity in our elected leaders and settled for personality and charisma (think Bill Clinton and Barack Obama). The results are evident.

If Christians continue to feel that voting is a necessary evil and stay home, we will have given away our freedoms and sold ourselves into slavery. Doing nothing is not an option!
