The Patriot Post® · SHOCKER: J6 Report Blames Trump
We’ve been on pins and needles, and we know you’ve been right there with us.
After nearly 18 months of arduous investigation, at least 964 righteous arrests, more than 1,000 fair-minded interviews, 845 pages of riveting prose, and a cost approaching nine million in taxpayer dollars, Nancy Pelosi’s unfair and imbalanced Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol has reached a conclusion: It was all Donald Trump’s fault.
And here we thought it was the actual rioters’ fault. You know — that old deal about people being responsible for their own actions.
In any case, we’re shocked — SHOCKED — to learn that the esteemed committee didn’t instead blame Nancy Pelosi’s abject failure to provide proper security for the Capitol despite compelling evidence that she knew well in advance that violence was headed her way. We’re shocked that it didn’t blame Joe Biden’s basement-bound candidacy, his failure to draw flies on the campaign trail, his loss of 18 of 19 bellwether counties, and his utterly implausible haul of more population-adjusted votes than rock-star Barack Obama got in 2008. We’re equally shocked that it didn’t blame what Time magazine called “The Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election.” Shocked, too, that it didn’t blame the Democrats’ insistence on using COVID-19 as an excuse for turning Election Day into Election Season by opening up the voting process to all manner of bulk-mail ballot fraud. Shocked, too, that it didn’t blame the widespread voting irregularities across six crucial swing states. And shocked most of all that it didn’t blame Big Tech and the FBI for colluding to interfere in the election by suppressing the New York Post’s bombshell report and thereby denying the American people the awful truth about the Biden Crime Family in the weeks just before the 2020 election.
Heck, the least it could’ve done was blame the Russians.
Instead, Pelosi’s hand-picked committee of Trump haters presented the prosecution’s one-sided case without allowing a defense team anywhere near the committee. Indeed, Nancy Pelosi famously denied the Republican Party any legitimate representation on the committee when, in an act of unprecedented and unconstitutional hubris, she rejected Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s appointment of Congressmen Jim Jordan and Jim Banks to her January 6 Committee. It was at that moment, some 18 months ago, when everyone with an IQ above room temperature knew that the fix was in. This past summer’s Soviet-style show trial only confirmed it.
As the Washington Examiner reports: “The report makes the case that Trump is liable for the violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, when a mob of his supporters physically tried to halt Congress from certifying the electoral vote counting that formalized Joe Biden’s election as president. It concludes: ‘The central cause of January 6th was one man, former President Donald Trump, whom many others followed. None of the events of January 6th would have happened without him.’”
Well, yeah, Donald Trump was president at the time, and he and his supporters did earnestly believe that the 2020 election had been stolen. After all, incumbent presidents aren’t supposed to lose their reelection bids when they score more votes — indeed, 13 million more votes — than they did in their initial campaign. And they’re certainly not supposed to lose to a cognitively addled challenger like Joe Biden.
So yes, “none of the events of January 6th would have happened without him.” On this point we can all agree.
Donald Trump didn’t cover himself in glory on January 6. He wasn’t above the law for his actions that day nearly two years ago, but nor was he below it. His side of the story deserved its day in court, its full-throated representation on Nancy Pelosi’s committee. But he never got it, and the American people have thus been denied an opportunity to learn the whole truth of January 6, 2021. We expect that to change when Republicans take control of the House on January 3 and begin their own investigation.
As the Examiner notes, presumptive House Speaker Kevin McCarthy “instructed the committee to save all the evidence it has collected, as the new Republican majority will shift the focus of the investigation to why law enforcement and intelligence agencies weren’t prepared for the riot.”
But until then, we’ll say it one last time: Good riddance to the J6 Committee.
Oh, and if you’re still with us: a Very Merry Christmas to you and yours!
