The Trump-Deranged Show Trial Trudges On
With each passing episode, it becomes ever clearer that the Democrats would rather tarnish Trump than seek the whole truth.
As the Democrats are fond of telling us, it was “the most secure election in American history.” But no one with an IQ above room temperature believes that anymore — not with the unprecedented bulk-mail ballot fraud and the unlawful overriding of state election laws by unelected bureaucrats in key battleground states.
It’d be one thing if Joe Biden really won this thing by seven million votes. He didn’t. He won it by 43,000 votes in three states: Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin. That’s a drop in the bucket when we consider that some 11.5 million votes were cast in those states. That’s fewer than four votes per thousand cast, an agonizingly small margin. And the Wisconsin Supreme Court recently ruled that its election was conducted unlawfully.
This, then, is the backdrop against which Nancy Pelosi’s interminably long J6 dog and pony show trial of Donald Trump is slogging on. And on. And on. Of course, we’re not hearing anything about Biden’s razor-thin margin of victory. All we’re hearing about is how outrageous it was for Trump to suggest that something wasn’t right — even though he hauled in a whopping 13 million more votes than he did in 2016, and even though he won 18 of 19 bellwether counties, and even though Biden never left his basement and won a record-low 16.7% of the nation’s counties, and even though more than 100 million of the 161 million votes cast came through the always-reliable U.S. Postal Service. What could go wrong, right?
Nothing to see here, folks. Move along. Most secure election in American history, you smelly Walmart-shopping Trumpers.
Remember: Just because there wasn’t systemic fraud in our voting machines doesn’t mean the 2020 election wasn’t rigged by Democrats. As we’ve documented till we’re blue in the face, there are plenty of ways to rig an election.
And yet.
“Despite desperate pleas from aides, allies, a Republican congressional leader and even his family,” wrote the breathless Democrat water-carriers at the Associated Press, “Donald Trump refused to call off the Jan. 6 mob attack on the Capitol, instead ‘pouring gasoline on the fire’ by aggressively tweeting his false claims of a stolen election and celebrating his crowd of supporters as ‘very special,’ the House investigating committee showed Thursday night.” The AP adds quote and commentary next:
“President Trump didn’t fail to act,” said Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a fellow Republican but frequent Trump critic who flew combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. “He chose not to act.”
What on earth Republican turncoat Kinzinger’s military service has to do with this story, we have no idea, but it’s ever so helpful for these A.P. journalists to point it out. We must’ve missed their equally germane reporting on the lack of military service of Nancy Pelosi and Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney and Adam Schiff and the rest of them.
And why, as John Solomon of Just the News rightly asks, did Trump order the Pentagon to have a large military force ready to quell a disturbance? After all, he was hell-bent on inciting a riot on January 6, wasn’t he?
Happily, though, yesterday’s charade will likely be the last of it — at least for the summer. But we have a sneaky suspicion that Nancy and company will be back again this fall, as we get closer to the midterm shellacking and the end of both Cheney’s and Kinzinger’s political careers. As the AP continued:
After months of work and weeks of hearings, the prime-time session started the way the committee began — laying blame for the deadly attack on Trump himself for summoning the mob to Washington and sending them to Capitol Hill. The defeated president turned his supporters’ “love of country into a weapon,” said the panel’s Republican [sic] vice chair Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming.
Far from finishing its work after Thursday’s hearing, probably the last of the summer, the panel will start up again in September as more witnesses and information emerge. Cheney said “the dam has begun to break” on revealing what happened that fateful day, at the White House as well as in the violence at the Capitol.
“Donald Trump made a purposeful choice to violate his oath of office,” Cheney declared. “Every American must consider this: Can a president who is willing to make the choices Donald Trump made during the violence of Jan. 6 ever be trusted in any position of authority in our great nation?”
And that’s what this is all about, isn’t it? To whitewash a deeply flawed election, and to tar and feather the former president and populist outsider such that he can never hold that office again? Or do they secretly want him to run, thinking they can damage him enough so as to give some unnamed Democrat a better fighting chance against him than against some other Republican, like, say, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis?
In any case, the J6 hearing are a disgrace. And they’ve been a missed opportunity to get at the whole truth of that sad day — not just the truth that Nancy Pelosi wants you to hear.
“Legal scholars are very troubled by the way these hearings are being conducted,” said former career federal prosecutor David Sullivan. “There is no due process. For people who don’t have an agenda to promote, these [hearings] are Stalinist. And I hate using that term.”
We couldn’t agree more. Except for the “hate” part. Because if the Stalinist shoe fits, Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Trump-deranged Democrats must be made to wear it.
