“It has ever been my hobby-horse to see rising in America an empire of liberty, and a prospect of two or three hundred millions of freemen, without one noble or one king among them.” —John Adams (1786)

This week, we celebrated Independence Day, the official start of our nation’s Revolutionary War 247 years ago to secure American Liberty from a tyrannical British monarchy.

Thus, it was with interest that I read that the sparkly celebrity shine of Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has begun to show some tarnish. Since their courtship and marriage in 2018, they have been the source of enormous media and public attention, the result of their faux proletariat pretense. In reality, they are nothing more than royal profiteering hucksters — and if you dislike that characterization, you might be in a sycophantic personality trap.

Their shine started to lose its luster in May.

In case you missed it, on May 6, 2023, all the mass media talkingheads and scribes were singularly focused on the coronation of King Charles III and his ascension to the British throne.

It was notable that the master of ceremonies, the Archbishop of Canterbury, pledged he would be “faithful and true” to the “Sovereign Lord” Charles III, the most decadent and disgraceful royal in modern history. The Archbishop then called on all Crown subjects to pay homage to King Charles and take this pledge: “I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.”

Those words deeply offend the American spirit. As American Patriots, we pay homage and allegiance to no man. It is only by voluntary oath that we pledge “to support and defend” the American Liberty enumerated in our Declaration of Independence and enshrined in our Constitution, “So help me God!”

But commanding much more media bandwidth over the last five years were the ever-petulant Harry and his grifter spouse, Meghan.

As you recall, in 2020, the celebrated couple announced their intention “to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family” in order to “carve out a progressive new role” and “work to become financially independent.” Right.

To execute their plan, they moved to California and settled into a humble $15 million hut. From there, they have launched a cottage industry based on their “victimization,” especially because the poor duchess identifies as “mixed race,” her highness being half-black (or is it half-white?). To be fair, they were both childhood victims of their parents’ divorces and the tragically broken family consequences that in large measure account for their emotionally arrested development.

For the record, you won’t find but a few references to either of these embarrassingly woke Beverly Hills commoners in our pages, but I did profile them in “Royal Pains in the Arse” after a highly publicized interview. I noted: “Drama queen Meghan tearfully claimed she has finally been ‘liberated’ by the opportunity to tell their story of struggle and hardship to the queen of tabloid TV, billionaire Oprah Winfrey. Oprah emerged from her $100 million Montecito estate to lend a shoulder to the weeping royals in what they hoped would be the inaugural episode of their faux reality TV show, ’The Windsors.‘”

Right on cue, Meghan’s race-card accusation that little Archie is being denied the title of “prince” because he too is mixed race was the booster engine for her racial victimization charade. Shades of Jussie Smollett! And the MSM ate it up, apparently more interested in an accusation of royal racism than a well-documented accusation of royal pedophilia.

I know, you thought Harry and Meghan were divesting themselves of hereditary royal privilege. Oh, nay nay!

Of that Oprah interview, commentator Piers Morgan, in keeping with his British tradition of excessive effusiveness, observed: “Meghan and Harry’s nauseating two-hour Oprah whine-athon was a disgraceful diatribe of cynical race-baiting propaganda. … Sickening. Shameful. Self-pitying. Salacious. Scandalous. Sanctimonious. Spectacularly self-serving.” Apparently unsatisfied, Morgan added: “Those were just my initial thoughts after ten minutes of the Oprah whine-athon with Meghan and Harry, and while restricting myself to only using words beginning with the letter ’s’. By the time I’d finished the whole two-hour orgy of pious, self-indulgent, score-settling twaddle, the steam was erupting out of my ears like an exploding geyser, and my lexicon of rageful epithets extended to the full range of the alphabet.”

Their celebrity attention-suck reached its zenith in January with the release of Harry’s 407-page “misery memoir,” a royal gaslighter called Spare. It is the first autobiography written by British royalty since the 1951 book, A King’s Story, by the Duke of Windsor. Spoiler alert: According to a Spectator review, “Although that one caused no end of controversy when it was published, it didn’t contain a description of the duke losing his virginity (which is just as cringe-worthy in context here as it was in the leaked extracts, although ‘ass’ has become ‘rump’), nor his youthful penchant for drugs.”

As our Emmy Griffin observed: “Leo Tolstoy once wrote, ‘All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.’ Prince Harry has decided to capitalize on the need to be the hero of his own story” in a book that “unveils a deeply damaged man who is willing to transgress every barrier to purge his soul of the scourge of divorce.”

If you’re interested in reading it, I suspect it’s already on the dollar shelves of your local thrift shops by now.

So, about all that tarnished British sterling: turns out the fake personas being promoted by these two were silver-plated.

As pop culture analyst Paula Froelich observed: “Six years ago, the world fell in love with a little-known actress named Meghan Markle. … Americans, in particular, could not get enough. I was one of them. … By forgoing his usual choice of leggy, trust-funded blondes and choosing an older, mixed race, successful working woman who had been raised in a broken home and worked her way up the Hollywood ladder, Harry had won us all over. … I am a notorious cynic but I could not help rooting for her. Weeks before they wed, I wrote: "Prince Harry, not Meghan, is the one who’s marrying up.”

But now, concedes Froelich: “Mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa. The love is gone. And not just for me.”

According to a recent YouGov poll Markle’s popularity with Brits has fallen to 29%, her lowest approval since tracking began in 2017. And in the U.S., her approval has plummeted to 40%, lower even than Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Meanwhile Harry’s approval has fallen six points since last year.

Froelich observes that Meghan “now insists on being known as ‘Duchess’ despite not wanting to be royal.” Further, she writes: “Instead of becoming hard-working role models for millions of multicultural Brits, the couple kicked back in their Montecito mansion and lined up the sinecures, including a $100 million deal with Netflix, a $40 million multi-book deal with Penguin Random House, and a $20 million deal with Spotify.”

When Meghan talked about the debut of her podcast, she declared, “People should expect the real me in this.” Unfortunately, that’s precisely what they got, and Spotify dropped the duowith prejudice” after just one podcast.

Their Netflix show is also a bust. And Penguin is wondering what’s next after Harry’s book.

Adding well-deserved insult to injury, United Talent Agency CEO Jeremy Zimmer concludes: “Turns out Megan Markle was not a great audio talent, or necessarily any kind of talent. … And, you know, just because you’re famous doesn’t make you good at something.”

This whole royal flop was best summed up by our friends at The Babylon Bee, who pilloried Markle with this parody: “Meghan Markle inspires millions of young girls with message that no matter how famous, rich, and powerful they are, they will always be oppressed.”

Can the wakeup call on the oh-so-phony King Chuck be far behind?

If you sense by now that I couldn’t give a flying flip about these laughable royal court jesters, much less any other celebrity leftists, you would be correct. In this case, it’s long past time for a royal flush!

So why take the time to expose these frauds? Because they, and their rich royal cadre, are an affront to American Liberty, and the good news is that some slumbering Americans are waking up to their charade. Unfortunately, Joe Biden isn’t among those dullard fools, as he inexplicably closed a national address recently by saying, “God save the Queen, man!”

Finally, let me use this opportunity to welcome thousands of new Patriot Post readers to our ranks, and, in the week we celebrate Liberty, I invite you to read our “Patriot’s Primer on American Liberty,” which will be the foreword to an upcoming book by the same name.
