The Patriot Post® · Biden Is Trafficking Human Political Pawns

Two years ago, under Donald Trump¹, our southern border was more secure than it had been in decades. The day Joe Biden² entered office, he set about reversing all of Trump’s border and immigration polices. Consequently, more than two million illegal immigrants have flooded our country as a direct result of Biden’s intentional³ and reckless open-border policy⁴. That has not only created a humanitarian crisis in several border states, but the human cost of inviting immigrants across our border has been deadly⁵.

Currently, the completely and intentionally overwhelmed U.S. Border Patrol is logging a record 8,000 illegal immigrant entries every⁶ — and there are many more who cross undetected. DHS officially estimates there were more than 900,000 “known gotaways⁷” since Biden took over – those who entered but were not captured, counted and released. The most dangerous of those entering evade detection. A senior DHS official says⁸: “Either the Biden administration is uninformed or they’re lying. We cannot process the numbers flooding our borders and the administration’s solution is scrambling for ways to let people in faster.”

To be clear, when Border Czar Kamala Harris⁹ brazenly claimed earlier this week, “The border is secure,” that was a bold and deliberate lie. Sen. Joe Manchin says: “For … the vice president, or anybody, to say our borders are secured, that is not accurate. I’ve been there. It’s wrong.”

Even Barack Obama’s¹⁰ former DHS secretary, Jeh Johnson, went on the record about the humanitarian consequences at the border: “By any measure, 4,000 arrests in a day, 100,000 in a month — that’s the population of the city of Albany, New York — that … is a crisis. It’s a crisis because it overwhelms our Border Patrol and our immigration officials’ ability to deal with it, and it’s a crisis because you have to absorb that population somehow into southern border towns. I cannot begin to imagine what 4,000 a day looks like.”

Which is to say he has no concept of what 8,000 a day looks like, and that is the reality.

Against this backdrop, six weeks ago Texas Governor Greg Abbott began busing illegal immigrants from his overwhelmed border to so-called “sanctuary cities¹¹,” including Chicago, New York, and Washington, DC. That prompted protests from all those mayors¹², and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser even called for help from the National Guard¹³. Notably however, the Biden administration has also been busing illegal immigrants¹⁴ to various cities – but on a much larger scale.

Responding to Harris’s big border lie, this week Abbott had two busloads of immigrants dropped off outside her official DC residence¹⁵ “to call on the Biden Administration to do its job and secure the border.” Keep in mind, we are talking about a few thousand immigrants sent to all of these cities, not the millions Biden has invited into border states.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis upped the ante, flying about 50 immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard¹⁶, a leftist island playground off of Cape Cod — an enclave for the nation’s rich and famous¹⁷, including Obama.

According to DeSantis¹⁸: “We are not a sanctuary state, and it’s better to go to a sanctuary jurisdiction, and yes, we will help facilitate that transport for you to go to greener pastures. Biden would fly people in the middle of the night, dump them all across this country. There was no warning on any of this. And all those people in DC and New York were beating their chest when Trump was president saying they were so proud to be sanctuary jurisdictions, saying how bad it was to have a secure border.”

DeSantis spokesperson Taryn Fenske¹⁹ added that the flights were “part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations.” She added, “States like Massachusetts, New York, and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden administration’s open border policies.”

The 50 immigrants DeSantis sent to Obama’s back yard prompted Biden to protested²⁰: “Republicans are playing politics with human beings, using them as props. What they’re doing is simply wrong. It’s un-American. It’s reckless.”

Biden’s equally inept spokes-parrot, Karine Jean-Pierre, added: “We have had a process in place, there is a legal way of doing this, and for managing migrants. Republican governors interfering in that process and using migrants as political pawns is shameful, is reckless, and just plain wrong. It’s really just disrespectful to humanity. It doesn’t afford them any dignity. … It’s just cruel.”

Let’s unpack these blame-shifting lies.

First, Demos don’t give a damn²¹ about the welfare of illegal immigrants Biden has incentivized to cross our border – except for their value as political pawns. The Biden administration has intentionally ignored “the legal way of doing this” and indeed is “playing politics with human beings,” despite claiming that using them as “political pawns is shameful” and “disrespectful to humanity” and “just cruel.”

Second, actually, Biden is the nation’s most notorious “human trafficker,” and the Democrats’ deceitful open-border policy²² is “simply wrong … un-American … reckless.” In 2021 alone, Biden authorized almost 1000²³ large charter “ghost flights²⁴” to many U.S. locations, including planes loaded with children²⁵ – most under cover of darkness²⁶. (I have videos of them arriving in at an FBO in Chattanooga, TN last summer.) Notably, Biden sent 70 flights to Florida²⁷.

As Rep. Michael Waltz (R-FL) noted: “When those [ghost flights] are Biden administration/taxpayer-funded contracts with NGOs that are flying these people in the dead of night to all of these same locations, then it’s fine. But if you have Govs. DeSantis or Abbott or Ducey doing it in the middle of the day when everyone can see it, then suddenly they’re up in arms and having a collective political meltdown.”

Other Demos got the Biden’s “political pawn” memo.

New York Rep. Nydia Velazquez protested: “Using migrant men, women, and children as political pawns for a sick and unbelievably cruel stunt is vile. Republicans truly have no morality left.” This from a woman who supports ripping children from the wombs of their mothers just before birth.

And Martha’s Vineyard Demo, Massachusetts state Rep. Dylan Fernandes, a model of white privilege²⁸, whined: “I think it’s incredibly inhumane to use human beings as political pawns — put them on a plane and ship them like cattle. Governor DeSantis is a coward.”

I can’t let that one go unchallenged. About that “coward,” pretty boy Dylan apparently does not know that, after graduating from Yale and then Harvard Law School, in 2004 DeSantis became a Naval Officer, deploying to Iraq where he was awarded a Bronze Star for his service as an advisor with SEAL Team One.

Laughably, the wealthy idyllic Martha’s Vineyard enclave declared a “humanitarian crisis²⁹” after the arrival of 50 immigrants, prompting DeSantis to respond: “The minute even a small fraction of what those border towns deal with every day is brought to their front door, they go berserk. … Their virtue-signaling is a fraud. Now what would be best is for Biden to do his damn job and secure the border.”

“Humanitarian crisis”?

For the record, Martha’s Vineyard has an off-season population of 17,000 – more than 90% of whom are white privilege residents²⁸, and 90% of those voted for Biden³⁰. However, its summer seasonal population accommodates 180,000 visitors, which means that in September when the 50 immigrants arrived, the island had abundant capacity to provide housing and resources.

To put this “humanitarian crisis” into perspective, NR’s Brittany Bernstein notes³¹: “More than 24,000 illegal immigrants would need to arrive on the island for it to equally share the burden faced by Del Rio, Texas, on the U.S.-Mexico border.”

Typical of the Leftmedia coverage³² would be this fawning report from CNN: “Donations poured in and volunteers rushed to help: Here’s how Martha’s Vineyard communities responded to the arrival of migrants³³.”

Reality check: I have friends who were in Edgartown on MVI where the immigrants were detained for 44 hours. They report that the newcomers were cordoned off by police in a one-block area, and not allowed to leave that area until arrangements could be made to get them bussed off the island. While people were kind, as we all would be, there were no leftist celebrities opening their homes³⁴ or making any attempt to keep them on the island, despite the fact there are plenty of fine accommodations available³⁵. Additionally, there are “now hiring” and “help wanted” signs in every business window given the seasonal high school and college kids have departed, but no jobs for the immigrants – as soon as funding was available, they were deported.

Finally, for the record, remember when now-Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer declared: “People who enter the U.S. without our permission are illegal aliens, and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who enter the U.S. legally. … When we use phrases like ‘undocumented workers,’ we convey to the American people that their government is not serious about combating illegal immigration. … I think it is illegal and wrong.”

It still is illegal and wrong.

Footnote: Seeking a stage appearance amid all the political theater, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who fancies himself the anti-DeSantis, is demanding that DeSantis and Abbott be investigated for kidnapping³⁶.
