Demo Mayors Cry Over Biden’s Open Border
All was well with those “sanctuary city” mayors until they began feeling a bit of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s pain.
If you’re like us here in our humble editorial shop, you can’t figure this guy out.
Is Joe Biden the ultimate moron, intentionally failing to secure the southern border so as not to offend all those brown-skinned Democrat voters who’d love nothing more than to see millions more brown-skinned people pour into our country? Or is he the ultimate genius, intentionally failing to secure the border so as to allow as many future Democrats into the country as possible before cynically pretending to shore things up just ahead of this fall’s midterms?
Either way, it won’t work. Regardless of what Biden does, he and his fellow Democrats are destined to pay a heavy price on November 8. That’s because brown-skinned voters aren’t nearly as dull and single-minded as the Left believes they are, and because the Democrats long ago became The Party of Illegal Immigration.
Hispanics certainly aren’t in favor of Biden’s border malfeasance, and they’re abandoning him in stunning numbers. Recent polling shows Scranton Joe at 19% favorability among this critical constituency, with a whopping 70% disapproving of his job performance, while 11% are somehow still undecided. Border security isn’t the only issue, of course; inflation and the economy loom large. So much for the Democrats’ demographic destiny. Who knew that Hispanics aren’t in favor of turning our nation into Northern Mexico? Certainly not Joe Biden.
Oh, he’s faking a good game about now, having quietly approved a plan recently to complete a section of Donald Trump’s border wall near Yuma, Arizona, which is one of the busiest corridors for illegal crossings. But the guy who once famously called Trump’s immigration policies “xenophobic” and “racist,” the guy who once said “Not another foot” when asked about building the wall, still can’t admit that physical barriers to illegal entry actually work.
As if to illustrate that he’s not a sudden convert, Biden’s DHS also announced that it will completely scrap Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy now that all court challenges have played out.
Meanwhile, the costs of Biden’s refusal to secure the border are now coming home to roost in Democrat enclaves. We recently reported on DC Mayor Muriel Bowser’s frantic cries for the National Guard to be brought in, thereby to keep the unwashed brown masses away from her beleaguered district.
On Sunday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams joined the NIMBY chorus, firing away at Texas Governor Greg Abbott after a second busload of illegal aliens arrived at his doorstep.
Adams staged a news conference as he greeted an incoming bus of around 40 migrants, only 14 of whom disembarked in the Rotten Apple. “This is horrific when you think about what the governor is doing,” he said, referring to Abbott’s brilliant policy of shipping small numbers of illegals off to Democrat sanctuary cities, which he began doing in April.
As for Abbott, he couldn’t resist reminding Adams of his own failed policies. “In addition to Washington, DC, New York City is the ideal destination for these migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams has boasted about within the sanctuary city,” said Abbott on Friday, adding, “I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief.”
Abbott has it exactly right. Everything’s swell when it’s just those faraway border states like Texas and Arizona that are being overrun by illegals. But the minute they start to encroach on Democrat territory like DC or New York, the minute Bowser and Adams begin to feel a hint of the pain being caused by Joe Biden’s open-borders policy, they start screaming like stuck pigs.
As Texas Congressman Chip Roy so eloquently put it, “Cry me a frickin’ river.”
