The Patriot Post® · It's Official: To End the Pandemic, Get COVID!

Iceland is a small Nordic Island nation — about 100,000 square kilometers and with a population of 370,000 people — that bridges the continents of North America and Europe. Why it was named Iceland is a mystery to me, because its much larger neighbor Greenland, almost 2,200,000 square kilometers, is a massive desolate ice and rock mass, while Iceland is a green and beautiful place. I’m thinking Leif Erikson and his Vikings must have had a sense of humor.

This week, Iceland is following the path of some other European nations and ending all restrictions associated with the ChiCom Virus pandemic. Moreover, its government issued a stunning pronouncement that we first issued back in May of 2020. More on that in a moment.

Apparently, almost every Western leader but Joe Biden and Freedom Convoy-hating Canadian girlish PM Justin “Blackface” Trudeau (a.k.a. “Little Fidel”) has figured out that they have squeezed all the political usefulness out of their socialist mandates and are lifting them.

Recall, as I noted in our comprehensive ChiCom Virus timeline, that the planet’s biggest leftist benefactor, billionaire socialist George Soros, asserted early on that the ChiCom pandemic would provide a “revolutionary moment”: “I would describe it as a revolutionary moment when the range of possibilities is much greater than in normal times. What is inconceivable in normal times becomes not only possible but actually happens. People are disoriented and scared.”

We now know that, despite the plethora of big COVID lies pushed by Biden and his Beltway troll, Tony “Masked Man” Fauci, in order to enforce their BigGov power and control mandates, this bad-boy bug is receding. Yet many of the measures Biden promised would ostensibly “shut down the virus” did little more than cause massive social and economic disruption — and help defeat Donald Trump thanks to COVID-approved bulk-mail balloting.

Turns out that while the vaccines were reasonably effective for those who have significant comorbidity factors (primarily age), they did not stop the virus or its deadly variants. And the Biden/Fauci vaxxing mandates were a wrecking ball.

Turns out that the Left’s obsession with statist lockdowns were not as effective as advertised, despite the political effectiveness of these draconian measures. Johns Hopkins’s Dr. Martin Makary criticized his own institution for not promoting the study finding that lockdowns only reduced deaths by 0.2% because “people may already have their own narrative written.”

Turns out that the CDC has now confirmed, just in time for Biden’s State of the Union, what Fauci declared almost two years ago: “There is no reason to be walking around wearing a mask.”

Apparently, the political science has changed.

This latest politically motivated CDC flip-flop substantially widens the trust deficit between the CDC and the public it ostensibly serves. Perhaps it is better called the “Centers for Destroyed Credibility.”

Recall that Joe Biden spent the last two weeks of December assuring us that the latest viral variant would prove his dire “dark winter of severe illness and death” predictions to be true if we did not obey his vaxxing and masking mandates. But reality is colliding with Biden’s statist power agenda.

As I wrote last month, Biden checked his (still) guttural approval ratings and decided “the science” needed to change. So, in his upcoming State of the Union remarks tonight (you can read my preview of his lies and obfuscations here), this consummate lying dog-faced pony soldier will unveil his “Big COVID Pivot.”

So, in additional to lifting all its COVID restrictions, what else did Iceland’s Ministry of Health announce?

“Widespread societal resistance to COVID-19 is the main route out of the epidemic. To achieve this, as many people as possible need to be infected with the virus as the vaccines are not enough, even though they provide good protection against serious illness.”

Read that again.

Iceland’s Ministry of Health advice should also bridge the continents of North America and Europe.

What Iceland is now concluding is what we have argued since April of 2020 — that natural immunity leading to herd immunity is the most effective way to defeat the pandemic. As we have likewise argued, the measures Fauci dictated to the nation effectively retarded our ability to reach herd immunity, particularly among the healthiest Americans, greatly extending the national misery.

Turns out that natural immunities are proving far superior to the vaccine.

But we already knew that… Recall what Death Czar Tony Fauci had to say about vaccines versus natural immunity, back when he could tell fact from politically-induced fiction: “The best vaccination is to get infected yourself. … The most potent vaccination is getting infected yourself.”

Basically, Trump had it right in March of 2020 when he said that those who were most at risk should shelter until treatments and vaccines were available, and the rest of the nation should carry on. But, unfortunately, he made the fatal mistake of turning the nation over to Fauci and his Beltway bubble bureaucrats.

Which reminds me: Where is Waldo Fauci? Once ubiquitously featured on Leftmedia news segments 24/7, he has disappeared. They obviously want to hide him so Biden can claim victory over the virus. Stay tuned for Biden’s big State of the Union pivot and claim that he fulfilled his campaign promise: “I’m going to shut down the virus, not the country.”

If Republicans take back the House in the midterm elections, they should initiate an investigation to determine if the dramatic steps taken, ostensibly to stop the spread of COVID, were in fact the right steps to take. As National Review’s Michael Brendan Dougherty notes, “[Americans] deserve to have someone in public life affirm that they weren’t crazy, that in fact public health did mislead them.”
