This Freaky Friday installment is a doozy.
The Last Ditch Bar and Arts Venue in Greenfield, Massachusetts — which is advertised as “for dykes, transsexuals, gender freaks, workers, and their friends” — still requires, in the year of our Lord 2026, that people wear KN95 masks (or better) when entering the facility to protect the immunocompromised/disabled community that apparently frequents the bar.
However, the bar is struggling. The owner is thousands of dollars in debt and cannot afford to keep the place open. Ergo, the venue tried another tactic — tentatively offering “mask-optional” Saturday nights to give people a place to socialize without personal protective equipment.
Last Ditch posted an invitation on Instagram that read, “It is with love we inform our immunocompromised disabled divas we will be opening Saturday nights as mask optional.”
Unfortunately for Last Ditch, its clientele tends to be the virtue-signaling, violent type. You would have thought this bar had threatened genocide from the responses it got.
One angry poster huffed, “Just say you’re being complicit in a mass disabling event and get it over with.”
Another miserable commenter wrote that these maskless Saturday events were “eugenics.”
The worst commenter by far said they hoped the venue would be “firebombed” for the high crime of “robbing my fellow immunocompromised people of their Saturday plans.”
The lesbian bar quickly tried to mend fences and posted another Instagram post that read, “We are sorry for the passive and dismissive tone of our change to the norms and schedule impacting the most intersectional of us. We understand everyone faces different intersections and we are always working to consider all needs fully.”
But that still didn’t save them. Capitulating never saves anyone from these misanthropic harpies. The commenters subsequently tore apart the second post for another high crime: not including Instagram alt-text, a feature that makes a post accessible to people who are blind or otherwise visually impaired.
The bar owners and staff attempted to rectify things in person with a community meeting moderated by a therapist. It was little more than a group of 20 people getting on their soapbox and calling the bar employees and owner racist, eugenicist, and ableist. The owner tried to explain that they needed to try something new because she had been reduced to living out of her car in order to keep the bar going. Did she get any empathy for her lived experience?
Absolutely not. She was told that her tears were “centering” her feelings and that this was racist and deflective. So bleated the “tolerant Left.”
Perhaps the most bizarre twist in this story is that purple-haired Connecticut Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro posted the following about the controversy: “trip cancelled, no one wanted to mask.”
Was this a hack or a social media team with a wry sense of humor? No further comment has been made.
Back to the bar, it’s hard to imagine someone so consumed with their own victimhood that they look for any reason to be angry or hateful toward someone just to signal their own virtue. The self-flagellation is so severe that they will wear the uncomfortable COVID muzzles until the cows come home. What a miserable existence.
The saddest part of this whole story is that it is a perfect example of how these people have replaced biblical morality with their own leftist religion. Because leftism is yet another cult, there is no atonement or forgiveness, only absolute compliance lest the evildoer get destroyed (financially or even literally, per the firebomb comment).
If this is an example of what Woke 2 turns into, all of us should cry off.
