Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger attempted a rebuttal President Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address by asking three questions of the American people: “Is the president working to make life more affordable for you and your family? Is the president working to keep Americans safe at home and abroad? Is the president working for you?”

Well, with gas prices down, inflation still coming down, rent and interest rates going down, job growth rising, wages for American citizens going up, manufacturing jobs being restored in America, energy deregulation freeing businesses, drug costs coming down, Trump Accounts for children of American citizens, trying to get medical money directly to the people instead of to insurance companies, a secure border, crime rates massively down, criminals being arrested, trafficked children being rescued by the tens of thousands, illegal aliens being deported, fentanyl deaths drastically down, Americans being protected from narco-terrorists bringing more drugs into the country, the buildup of our military and arsenal, no wars started, and the list goes on, most would respond with a resounding, “Yes, he is working for Americans and he promises to do more!”

According to Spanberger, though, “We did not hear the truth from the president.”

This kind of gaslighting is no surprise coming from someone who campaigned as a moderate and then, once in office, went radical left on everything. Still, Spanberger was tapped to give the rebuttal because the Democrats view her and her gubernatorial campaign as a model for other leftists to follow. That blueprint: lie, don the cloak of moderation, deceive your constituents, and then, after you’re elected, run the communist playbook.

During her campaign, Spanberger said she had no plans to redistrict Virginia. But lo and behold, as governor, she immediately signed legislation allowing redistricting to proceed. (It was recently blocked by a court.) Spanberger ended the state’s agreement to work with ICE, which makes it harder for law enforcement to arrest criminals and therefore does not protect American citizens. She and her Democrat colleagues are proposing a bevy of bills that will massively increase taxes on Virginians. She is even endorsing a law that will increase energy costs by $3,500 per customer. The hypocrisy of her laying blame at Trump’s door for increasing taxes through his tariffs is rich when he has drastically cut taxes for everyday Americans through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed last year.

The contrasts couldn’t be starker between the two: Trump has kept his promises, while she has broken all of hers.

Spanberger claimed in her speech that she and her Democrat colleagues are “laser-focused on affordability,” but the policies they have passed or are currently proposing do the exact opposite. Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Governor Gavin Newsom, and Spanberger are all attempting to increase taxes on individuals and businesses. Besides, everything she blamed the president for, like rural hospitals closing down and the affordability crisis, was caused by Democrats. Joe Biden’s reckless infusion of cash into the economy is what caused historic inflation – almost like Biden and Harris intended to drop and inflation bomb on America. The failed ObamaCare scam is why the government has been forced to subsidize healthcare so fully, increasing costs for everyone.

Yes, the “affordability” issue is front and center on voter minds, but the reality is the Trump administration is scoring significant economic success.

Spanberger then painted herself as someone who cares about law enforcement by discussing her father’s background as a police officer and her own as a federal agent, but then went on to disparage ICE as “poorly trained,” “sowing fear,” and “arresting mothers and children.” If she actually cared about protecting Americans and keeping them safe, she would support the laws of our country and the people charged with enforcing them. Spanberger touted her record as a CIA officer, working to protect America and its allies, and slammed Trump for supposedly bowing to China and Russia. All the while, Biden and other Democrats have been in bed with China, both literally (here’s looking at you, Eric Swalwell) and figuratively, for decades, kowtowing to the point of letting the ChiComs float a spy balloon across our entire country.

The governor went on to claim that her 15-point victory in Virginia was due to voters wanting “something different.” It would seem that Virginia voters are, in fact, getting “something different” than what they voted for because they thought they voted for a moderate. Spanberger was as focused on messaging for the midterms as Trump was in his speech, calling people to flip more seats as she “flipped her state” because Trump is divisive, he’s not working for you, he’s making things less affordable, and he’s creating fear through ICE.

Spanberger claimed that Democrats are working for you. Well, if polices like defunding the police, child mutilation, releasing criminals onto the streets, open borders, raising taxes, and political violence are her definition of “working for me,” then I don’t want her or any other radical leftist working for me.
