Tuesday Executive News Summary

Biden ignored D-Day anniversary until late, biggest caravan yet headed to border, Musk threatens to kill Twitter purchase, and more.

Top of the Fold

  • Biden ignored D-Day anniversary until late in the evening: Evidently, Joe Biden was too busy issuing “Gay Pride” proclamations and ordering military branches to issue absurd “Pride Month” virtue signals on social media to, for the second year in a row, make any mention acknowledging D-Day. Finally, as the sun was setting on the 78th anniversary of the Allied invasion at Normandy — and when it was already June 7 in Normandy — one of Biden’s handlers must have heard the evening reports about his failure to note D-Day and rushed out a message on his official Twitter page. “Today, we mark 78 years since D-Day and honor those who answered duty’s call on the beaches of Normandy,” the message read, ironically adding, “We must never forget the service and sacrifice in defense of freedom, and we must strive every day to live up to the ideals they fought to defend.” Biden entirely missed any acknowledgement of D-Day last year. We’d suggest that the nation’s commander-in-chief find time to show pride in those who genuinely acted in a sacrificial way to earn that honor rather than to issue declarations celebrating sexual deviancy.

  • The biggest migrant caravan yet is headed to U.S. border: Another huge caravan of migrants is headed to the U.S. southern border, and it’s calling on Joe Biden to open it wider. “He promised the Haitian community he will help them,” a group of migrants stated. “He will recall Title 42. He will help us have real asylum.” According to recent reports, the current caravan working its way north now through Mexico numbers approximately 10,000 people. The majority of migrants in the caravan are said to originate from Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua. While the Biden administration has sought to end the Donald Trump-initiated Title 42 provision, thus far the courts have stymied Biden’s efforts. Furthermore, the massive caravan serves to further undercut the Biden administration’s claim that it can stop the problem by addressing push factors in other countries rather than focus on securing the U.S. southern border. Clearly, Biden’s immigration agenda is having the opposite effect, but as we have noted, that has been the plan all along.

  • Musk threatens to kill Twitter purchase deal: Elon Musk continues to be at loggerheads with Twitter as he seeks to purchase the social media company. On Monday, Musk warned that he may back out of the deal, claiming that Twitter has been “actively resisting and thwarting” his right to information on the company’s number of spam bot and fake accounts. “This is a clear material breach of Twitter’s obligations,” stated a letter from his attorneys. The company currently claims that less than 5% of its users are fake. Musk has challenged that number, asserting that according to the calculations done by his team, the number of bots and fake accounts is at least 20%. Musk’s obvious concern is avoiding purchasing a company that ends up being a fifth to a quarter smaller than advertised. Meanwhile, the current execs at Twitter continue to refuse to disclose to Musk data and detailed information that would allow him to verify exactly how big the social media company is. As his attorneys point out: “Mr. Musk believes Twitter is transparently refusing to comply with its obligations under the merger agreement, which is causing further suspicion that the company is withholding the requested data due to concern for what Mr. Musk’s own analysis of the data will uncover. If Twitter is confident in its publicized spam estimates, Mr. Musk does not understand the company’s reluctance to allow Mr. Musk to indecently evaluate those estimates.” The same Twitter execs who initially resisted Musk’s buyout bid are apparently continuing to work to undermine his purchase in the hopes of preventing him from taking over and changing Twitter into a truly free speech-friendly platform.
