Confirmation Overdrive

Six cabinet nominees had hearings before key Senate committees yesterday.

The confirmation process for President-elect Trump’s nominees accelerated yesterday. Six cabinet nominees had hearings before key Senate committees. Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio and Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi were the day’s blockbuster hearings.

Other Trump nominees before the Senate yesterday were Russell Vought (director of the Office of Management and Budget), Sean Duffy (secretary of Transportation), John Ratcliff (CIA director), and Chris Wright (secretary of Energy).

Marco’s Message

Marco Rubio’s opening statement had globalists reaching for the Maalox. His message was clear: When it comes to foreign policy, we’re putting America First. Here are some excerpts of his remarks.

“Out of the triumphalism of the end of a long Cold War emerged a bi-partisan consensus that … all mankind was now destined to abandon national identity, and we would become ‘one human family’ and ‘citizens of the world.’ This wasn’t just a fantasy; it was a dangerous delusion.

"Here in America, and in many of the advanced economies across the world, an almost religious commitment to free and unfettered trade at the expense of our national economy, shrunk the middle class, left the working class in crisis, collapsed our industrial capacity, and pushed critical supply chains into the hands of adversaries and rivals…

"We welcomed the Chinese Communist Party into this global order. And they took advantage of all its benefits. But they ignored all its obligations and responsibilities. Instead, they have lied, cheated, hacked, and stolen their way to global superpower status, at our expense… The postwar global order is not just obsolete; it is now a weapon being used against us.”

Bondi The Bold

Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is eager to clean house at the Justice Department. She told senators:

“[M]y overriding objective would be to return the Department of Justice to its core mission of keeping Americans safe and vigorously enforcing the law… The Department of Justice must also return to defending the foundational rights of all Americans, including free speech, free exercise of religion, and the right to bear arms…

"Lastly, and most importantly, if confirmed, I will work to restore confidence and integrity to the Department of Justice – and each of its components.  Under my watch, the partisan weaponization of the Department of Justice will end.”

Of course, Senate Democrats attempted to embarrass and smear Bondi. They failed. She was bold and confident as she batted down their insults and insinuations.

But I wanted to throw my shoes at the TV watching one Democrat after another grilling Bondi about how essential it is to maintain the independence of the Justice Department and to resist politicization from the White House.

We have suffered through years of the most hyper-politicized FBI and weaponized Justice Department in modern history!

Leftists in the FBI and the Justice Department spied on conservative parents and churches. They persecuted pro-life activists. They lied to us and censored the truth.

They covered up the criminality of the president’s son and attempted to prosecute the president’s leading political opponent.

And Democrats applauded every one of those gross abuses of power!

If Pam Bondi purges and prosecutes Deep State partisan hacks, and I hope she does, that’s not “revenge.” It’s accountability.

Faith Under Fire

Pete Hegseth did incredibly well Tuesday, but the conduct of liberal senators was disgusting. Democrats conducted themselves like dictators. They demanded yes or no answers to complicated questions and shouted him down when he offered thorough explanations, trying to violate his freedom of speech.

I know they are upset over losing the election. They hoped we were done and could never win again. But we are back. Trump appointments like Pete Hegseth represent the millions of Americans who love God and who love America, and it drives the left insane.

I was struck by how emotional and angry Democrats were about having women in combat on the frontlines. This was described as being “pro-woman.”

Democrats claim they are the party of women, but they have a strange way of showing it. They want boys in girls’ restrooms and locker rooms, and they want women on the frontlines of whatever new war they want to start.

On the other hand, they’re not interested in stopping the trafficking of little girls and women at the border or deporting illegal aliens who have assaulted women. They want woke prosecutors to let violent criminals who prey on women out of jail with no bail.

But back to my main point about Tuesday’s hearing.

It wasn’t just Pete Hegseth being put through the wringer. Every Christian was also put “on trial,” whether they realize it or not. That hearing was another example of the left’s ongoing effort to marginalize Christians and Christianity.

You can invite drag queens into our classrooms, but you’d better not invite a pastor! You can read “Heather Has Two Mommies” to young kids, but you’d better not read, “In the beginning God created the heavens and earth.”

If George Washington was nominated to be secretary of Defense today, Democrats would oppose his nomination because someone had a picture of him praying at Valley Forge on government time.

A Win For Women

Here’s some good news in the war over Faith, Family, and Freedom. The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act passed the House of Representatives Tuesday. All Republicans voted for the bill, and all Democrats, except two, voted against it.

The act bans men from female athletic programs and defines sex as “a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.” This language is meant to prevent a future liberal administration from trying to do what Joe Biden did because that obvious definition is no longer so obvious to many on the left.

Some “political experts” thought that after Kamala Harris’s defeat, Democrats might move to the middle. They will not. They are all in on abortion and LGBTQ ideology. Anyone who gets out of line will be smashed.

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) got the message. After the election, Moulton criticized his party for going too far left on LGBTQ extremism. But Tuesday, he fell in line and voted against this commonsense legislation.

Rather than change their extreme position, Democrats just changed their tactics. They didn’t argue that it’s perfectly normal and okay for boys to cheat in girls’ sports and invade their private spaces.

Their new line of attack is to claim that the only way to prove a girl really isn’t a boy is to give her a genital examination. So, according to the left, the GOP bill will subject your daughters to sexual molestation at school by someone who insists they remove their pants to get a look at their genitals.

That was the counterargument Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made Tuesday with great passion. House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries said the GOP bill would empower child predators.

That’s really rich!

AOC and Jeffries voted against legislation to deport illegal aliens who assault women and children. AOC and Jeffries support insane open borders policies that result in little girls and women being sexually trafficked.

It’s also a really stupid argument. As Riley Gaines noted, virtually every high school and college requires student athletes to have physical exams. They don’t want athletes with medical problems collapsing on the field. During those exams, doctors routinely confirm the gender of the patient.

The ERS

Donald Trump is promising to cut government agencies, but he caused leftist heads to explode when he suggested a new agency called the “External Revenue Service.”

Democrats dramatically expanded the Internal Revenue Service to get every last drop of blood they can from American taxpayers. Trump wants to stop that.

He’s committed to imposing tariffs on goods produced by slave labor in countries like communist China. The ERS would be in charge of collecting revenue from those foreign sources, which would help reduce the burgeoning budget deficit.

I don’t know if Trump can pull this off, but it’s more evidence of his ability to think of “outside-the-box ideas” that benefit the country. And one of those ideas is that you, the American taxpayer, are paying too much in taxes.

Another Trump Win

Since his election, Donald Trump has repeatedly warned that Hamas better release the hostages before his inauguration or “all hell will break loose.” A ceasefire agreement between Israeli and Hamas negotiators was announced yesterday — five days before Trump’s inauguration.

The deal calls for 33 Israeli hostages to be released over 42 days in various stages. President-elect Trump praised the deal on his Truth Social platform, writing:

“This EPIC ceasefire agreement could have only happened as a result of our Historic Victory in November… I am thrilled American and Israeli hostages will be returning home to be reunited with their families and loved ones. . . This is only the beginning of great things to come for America, and indeed, the World!”

“We have achieved so much without even being in the White House. Just imagine all of the wonderful things that will happen when I return to the White House…”
