The Left’s Plan to Win

“They are just going to have to unilaterally add Puerto Rico and [the] District of Columbia [as] states. … And they may have to expand the [Supreme] court to 13 members.”

Every time I think the political winds might be changing a bit in our direction, somebody like James Carville, the “ragin’ Cajun” whose Louisiana twang defined liberal political commentary in the Clinton era, shows up and reminds me how wrong I can be.

Carville rounded out a bracing news week with an interview on a popular podcast.  He went all-in on the need for the Left to take drastic actions to save our “democracy” from the GOP.

He didn’t mince words.  Carville insisted that Democrats need to lose their fear of opening a “Pandora’s Box” of bad ideas.

He advised them, “They are just going to have to unilaterally add Puerto Rico and [the] District of Columbia [as] states. They’re going to have to do it. They’re just going to have to do it.  And they may have to expand the [Supreme] court to 13 members.”

The only path to this outcome, Carville asserted as part of his hymn to “democracy,” is for Democrats to sweep everything – the White House, Congress, and, after the election, the courts – in the 2028 election.

Should we take Carville seriously? We had better.  Sure, Carville is 80 years old, and hasn’t run an actual campaign in years.

But Carville also represents the Democrats’ old guard, part of whose fame, like the Clintons’, was to portray themselves as the reasonable ones.  Carville’s gambit on two new states and court-packing shows how crushing democratic norms have permeated his entire party.  Brute methods, not good arguments, are all they have.

I won’t waste your time by reciting 100 pages of examples of the things Democrats are advocating to dispense with our constitutional republic.  But the roll call is laughable and revealing.

Today’s Democrats despise the First Amendment, particularly its guarantees of free speech and religious liberty. They hate the Second Amendment, especially since it reinforces the seriousness of the First Amendment and other fundamental freedoms.

Over the past several decades, they have used the courts to discover an array of “rights” that somehow escaped the notice of our founders, the very people who wrote our constitution, ratified it, and applied it for centuries.

For all of my adult life here in the nation’s capital, the Supreme Court has been the Left’s ace in the hole. Time and again, they have used it – often by a single-vote margin – to impose policies they could never get through Congress or state legislatures.

Abolish school prayer.  End Bible reading in public classrooms everywhere.  Strike down pro-life laws or laws like parental consent that merely slow down the abortion machinery.  Destroy the institution of man-woman marriage.  All this, while proclaiming themselves the guardians of democracy – substituting for self-rule open contempt for what the people of the nation actually want from their laws and public policy.

If Democrats had the power – and Carville is saying they mean to have it – they would disarm the American people in a heartbeat.  It’s a funny way to defend democracy – change our union of states, replace officeholders with liberal lifetime judges, invent top-down radicalism from the bench – all the while saying your motive is to repel the conservative threat to our freedoms.

Most disturbing to me, it’s clear that many on our side are more relaxed about the peril our nation faces.  Some relief is understandable. Our nation dodged a bullet last year.  Literally, in Butler, Pennsylvania last July when Donald Trump was nearly struck down.  Then last November when our nation avoided the damage Kamala Harris (speaking of democracy, a woman who had won not a single primary election for president!) would have done to every one of our institutions.

Thank God, neither of those things came to pass.  But let’s be real.  Those events are not that long ago and 2028 is not far away.  Next year takes us up to the mid-terms and, as Carville’s antics underscore, the Democrats are not going mild.  They do not merely want to defeat us, but, as their efforts to harass parents who dared go to school board meetings show, they are willing to expel and jail us for challenging their dictates.

The ironies couldn’t be sharper.  The more democratic a movement actually is – the Tea Party, moms and dads questioning sex changes secretly promoted to their children – the more today’s Democratic Party wants to smash it.  Take this vaccine or else.  Object to books in elementary schools explicitly detailing sodomy and we will take you to federal court.

I am as happy as anyone to celebrate victories.  But this is no time to take a nap.  Carville’s comrade in arms, Paul Begala, told CNN last week he sees a “wave election” coming – an earthquake that brings the Democrats a 40-seat majority in the House next year.

Begala is trying to rally his troops, but the events he predicts are just 16 months away.  It’s how things are.  If you don’t like today’s political winds, just wait a few weeks.

The bottom line: Democrats have suffered defeats.  Their most violent gestures have failed.  They lost at the ballot box.  But don’t kid yourselves.  They have not changed.  They don’t embrace life, faith, the existence of two sexes, or smaller government.  They don’t want your children to be taught that our nation has always strived to be a shining city on a hill, that honors the God who is the author and finisher of our liberties.

Carville and Company want power and they will trample everything in their path that denies it to them.  Our task is to stay strong – and stay awake.

More Indoctrination

Randi Weingarten is president of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), one of the nation’s largest teachers’ unions. At AFT’s recent national convention, Weingarten announced that she is negotiating with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to develop teaching material to make sure America’s children are prepared for the future.

If that doesn’t set off alarm bells, you’re not thinking straight!

Weingarten is a far-left ideologue who is “married” to a female rabbi. She personifies everything that is going wrong with American education. Now she’s hooking up with the WEF, which, of course, gets up every morning really worried about America’s kids being ready for the jobs of the future.

And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you!

This is one of the major teachers’ unions joining forces with globalist elites to further indoctrinate our children and counter what the Trump administration is doing to give parents more choice in education.

What America’s children need is more real education and no indoctrination. But you’re not going to get that with radical Left teachers’ unions and anti-American globalists.
