The Consequences of Treason and Seditious Speech

We all believe in the freedom of speech and expression, but there is a very clear line that has been, is being, crossed.

Howdy y'all, I know the current news cycle is all about the supposed “government shutdown.” Well, you have to ask yourself, does the federal government really shut down, or is it just a ruse?

Let’s be honest about this: I have never seen in the Constitution of the United States where the government, at any level, has the enumerated power to tell private sector businesses that they have to shut down. Yet, as we all remember, that is exactly what happened during COVID, and some small businesses never recovered. Or telling Churches they could not hold services, but you could certainly go and get a Big Mac, visit Home Depot, buy some liquor, pot, or even dismember an unborn baby in the womb.

However, the U.S. Constitution in Article I, Section 8 lists the (18) enumerated powers, duties of the federal government, which, last time I checked, are funded by taxpayers. Soooo, who should be telling whom to shut down? Yes, it is time we restore constitutional governance and put government back into its rightful constraints and purviews. Remember what the 10th Amendment states: you know, those powers not specifically enumerated to the federal government are reserved to the States and to the people.

What is Freedom of Speech?

Well, speaking of our Constitution and the understanding of government enumerated powers, let’s take a gander at understanding one of our individual rights…the freedom of speech and expression. I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights is part of our rule of law. However, I believe it is time we assess what freedom of speech and expression means. I find that many Americans of a Marxist leftist philosophy are quite confused about this, and believe that not agreeing with their ideology is a warrant for suppression, ya know, Antifa.

There is an interesting story coming out of Texas that is far more impactful than another tired debate about the government being shut down, which never really happens.

Let’s travel down to San Marcos, Texas, just south of Austin, where we find Texas State University, home of the Bobcats. It is also, or was, the home of a TSU Associate Professor of History named Tom Alter. Well, good ole Dr. Alter decided to participate in a virtual conference this past weekend, the Revolutionary Socialist Conference 2025.

And yes, you know where this is going: the conference was taped, and Dr. Alter’s comments were publicly released and provided to Texas State University. Dr. Alter stated, among other things, “Without organization, how can we expect to OVERTHROW the most bloodthirsty, profit-driven, mad organization in the history of the world, that of the United States government?” It appears that Dr. Alter doesn’t just want a government shutdown; he wants it overthrown. Now, how about having this fine cheeky fella teaching history to your kids?

Dr. Alter has been terminated by Texas State University, but he filed a lawsuit and a District Court judge, here we go again, has ordered Texas State University to reinstate Dr. Alter. To which, Texas State University said no.

The 1st Amendment Doesn’t Mean ‘No Consequences’

Does Dr. Alter have the freedom to say as he wishes? Sure, but when you talk of overthrowing the government, that is treasonous, if you are an American citizen, and certainly seditious. Are we to believe that there are no longer consequences for such actions? Sure, you are free to go out and say stupid things, but your employer is also free not to associate with you. And here we have a case of a university history professor saying such things. I am wondering how he grades students who disagree?

Yes, I support freedom of expression. But I do not think burning our American flag should be a “protected” act of expression, so I disagree with the 1970s ruling.

Inciting…

Right now, we have a problem in America with people openly advocating for the undermining and overthrowing of the US government. However, let’s be honest, it is not so much about the government; it is about the Trump administration. They lost an election, so the leftists have resorted to their time-honored tradition, violence. History provides evidence that the Democrat party seems to have a history of sedition. Remember the Civil War? Today, we have Democrat supported violence directed against the federal government, no different from the firing upon Fort Sumter. Oops, I am sorry, those are just examples of peaceful demonstrations, my bad!

Dr. Tom Alter, just like those celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk, must learn that there are consequences to their abhorrent actions. Jimmy Kimmel should have learned that lesson, but nah, leftists did another thing that they are good at: threatening businesses and private corporations.

Attacking federal law enforcement who are enforcing the law should have definitive consequences; it is an act of treason. Speaking of overthrowing the American government is seditious. Isn’t it funny that the left keeps reverting back to one day, January 6th, when this has been their modus operandi for quite some time? How interesting that the Biden administration went after anyone and threw them behind bars, often violating their constitutional rights. Yet, we have groups like Antifa, John Brown Gun Club, and the Socialist Rifle Association openly enacting armed insurrections and insurgency against the federal government…"Resist".

There must be consequences for treason and sedition. Leftists cannot continue to believe that they are impervious to any scrutiny and prosecution. It is quite apparent that they believe and embrace the idea that anyone disagreeing with them should be persecuted, and even assassinated.

Yes, we all believe in the freedom of speech and expression, but there is a very clear line that has been, is being, crossed…it must come to an end, and the restoration of the rule of law must be achieved.

Steadfast and Loyal.
