The eyes of the nation are focused on the primary races in California today. The state has an open primary system where everyone runs on one ballot. The top two finishers, regardless of party, advance to the general election. It’s possible to have a general election between two Democrats, which is a real possibility according to the polls.
 
The latest poll finds former Biden Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra (D) leading the race for governor at 28%, followed by Democrat Tom Steyer at 22% and Republican Steve Hilton at 21%. Republicans are hoping that Hilton makes it into the general election.
 
The same is true in the race for mayor of Los Angeles, where Democrat Karen Bass is running for reelection. She is being challenged by Republican Spencer Pratt and by socialist City Councilwoman Nithya Raman.
 
Pratt has captured the attention of the nation with his focus on common sense. The media have asked him if he is “MAGA,” which they know would be the “kiss of death” in the left-wing city.
 
His response is that he’s not interested in labels. He’s interested in what works. He tells reporters, “A lot of people are tired of walking down the street dodging drug needles and human excrement.”
 
Pratt’s campaign has been a teaching lesson in how conservatives can be a factor in big city politics. If he makes it into the general election, he could launch a wave of copycat candidates and, win or lose, that would be good for urban America.
 
But it is California. Many people I know in the state believe the evidence of widespread election fraud is overwhelming. There are reports today that a fire in a Los Angeles ballot drop box may have destroyed an unknown number of mail-in ballots.
 
 
 
Trump’s Transformation
 
As America gets ready to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday, President Trump has been busy transforming Washington, D.C., from a crime and drug-infested city into what the capital of a global superpower should be.
 
Union Station has undergone a complete transformation that changed the entire atmosphere of this iconic site right on Capitol Hill. For many years, vagrants and the mentally ill had taken over the historic landmark. It wasn’t a fun or safe place to be.
 
President Trump got rid of the homeless encampments and restored Union Station to its former glory. The fountain at Columbus Circle, right outside Union Station, had not worked since 2007. It was back on last week.
 
Malcolm X Park on D.C.‘s Meridian Hill is a beautiful area that was allowed to lapse into complete decline. Its famous cascading fountain hadn’t worked for a decade. But the supposedly “racist” president restored Malcolm X Park. It was overflowing this weekend with people of all races enjoying the park.
 
Some say Democrats are just incompetent. I think it’s deeper than that. Incompetence does not cause thousands of people to sleep on city streets. Incompetence does not allow drug deals to take place in broad daylight in front of schools. That kind of decline is intentional.
 
It is meant to demoralize us by creating the impression that we are not great, that there’s something terribly wrong with us. It’s an effort to degrade normalcy.
 
Of all the things Spencer Pratt says that causes leftist heads to explode, it’s his blunt talk on homelessness. He says, “We don’t have a homeless problem. We’ve got a drug and mental illness problem.” The New York Times describes Pratt’s remark as a “dark vision” of what ails Los Angeles.
 
Of course, it’s a drug and mental health problem! You have to have an advanced degree (extra years of leftist indoctrination) not to see it.
 
 
 
Robbing Girls
 
Young thug A.B. Hernandez continued to steal girls’ sports honors in California this weekend. And that’s exactly what he is—he’s a thug robbing girls. Hernandez stole first place in the girls’ high jump and triple jump, and he stole third place in the girls’ long jump at the state track and field championship.
 
The Democrat Party establishment refuses to do anything about it. In fact, they are cheering him on. Democrat Tom Steyer told Hernandez, “I’m so proud of you for what you’re doing.”
 
Really? He’s proud of a boy for cheating in girls’ sports and crushing the hopes and dreams of young women. Nothing is more illustrative of the sickness on the Left.
 
For the life of me, I don’t understand why more parents and grandparents in California are not going to the barricades to stop it.
 
 
 
Ready Or Not
 
It’s June, and for the remaining 28 days of the month, the LGBTQ indoctrination will be on full blast. Your kids still in school will be more at risk than ever. Depending on the kind of place you work at, there will be much more “pride” propaganda and left-wing lunacy than usual.
 
For example, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s office is promoting a “Trans Period Pride” event at a public library. We’re told this event is for “men” who menstruate. I think someone in the mayor’s office failed biology!
 
A massive backlash caused the library hosting the “trans period pride” event to cancel it. But the organization sponsoring the event now says it found a new location.
 
Boston’s public libraries will also be hosting 19 drag queen story hours this month for children as young as five. Democrat congressional candidates are tripping over themselves to waste your tax dollars on such disgusting events. 
 
The one thing you can say with certainty is that you won’t have to run to the bathroom retching because you saw topless men with fake breasts dancing on the White House lawn like we did under Joe Biden.
 
We should fight to take June and the rainbow back. Kudos to Governors Bill Lee (R-TN), Kay Ivey (R-AL) and Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR) for declaring June “Nuclear Families Month,” “Strong Families Month” and “Fidelity Month.”
 
In another positive development, corporate America has significantly reduced sponsorships of so-called “pride” events. I’m not naive enough to think this is a permanent change, but they are good readers of the marketplace, and no corporate executive wants to be blamed for the next Bud Light debacle.
 
 
 
Defeatist Democrats
 
We went through another weekend with no final agreement between the Iranian regime and the United States to end hostilities. In fact, the hostilities continued over the weekend.
 
So much of the negotiations are taking place behind closed doors that it’s hard to ascertain what exactly is going on, how close we are to a deal or how far away we are. News that Iran’s president submitted his resignation Sunday is not encouraging. That said, President Trump announced Monday afternoon that talks with Iran are continuing “at a rapid pace.”
 
But one thing is clear, and it should be getting more attention. The Democrat Party is openly rooting for America’s failure. They desperately want to say that Donald Trump lost the war. But whether they realize it or not, it would be America that lost the war.
 
During Vietnam, it took years before opposition to the conflict morphed into outright rooting for Communist North Vietnam. This time it took Democrats about 48 hours to start cheering for Iran.
 
That raises an important question, which I hope Americans will ask themselves in the days and weeks ahead: In a dangerous world, is there anyone in the Democrat Party they would trust with our national security?
 
If a Democrat wins the White House in 2028, I think it’s quite possible that the United States will be challenged all over the world in the first few months of 2029.
