To be successful in politics, you need to have mastered several key skills. You must be a talented orator in order to express your vision of the future to your supporters; you must be charismatic and yet approachable, so that voters will rally to your side in allegiance with their leader and their equal; and you must be willing to lie through your teeth with the unflinching ease of a total psychopath.

One of the pillars of this willingness to lie is the art of gaslighting, in which you convince your potential voters that their perception of past and present reality is incorrect, and that your ever-changing presentation of reality is all that they should know and understand. Even when the emperor stands there in the not-so-glorious nude, you must look beyond the nudity that would make HBO think twice and instead agree that the emperor’s new outfit is nothing short of stunning.

Enter Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has obviously kicked off her campaign to become president of the United States in 2028 by attempting to rewrite everything that she has ever said and done.

“During lockdown, of course, rhetoric in that time is not rhetoric that we would use today,” Ocasio-Cortez declared during an interview on ABC News. Earlier in the conversation, a cackling Ocasio-Cortez also referenced a local city councilman who had coined the phrase “woke one was crazy.”

Looking beyond how amusing both the congresswoman and her ABC News host found this declaration that “Woke 1 was crazy,” let’s not forget that Ocasio-Cortez not only participated in “Woke One” but was the queen of Woke One!

This is the same self-described Democratic Socialist who not only supports “progressive” policies that are often mischaracterized as “woke” — such as socialist health care, climate control legislation and taxing financial success — but fought to be the face of actual woke positions on race and gender and identity.

Setting aside her smooth-brained opinions on “geopolitics” — where she happily labeled Israel as a genocidal apartheid state without being able to explain what those words meant — Ocasio-Cortez gleefully cheered on the “defund the police” movement under the banner of “Black Lives Matter,” pushing “Woke One” at every single possible opportunity.

What about transgenderism, such as Ocasio-Cortez declaring on the House floor last year that “trans girls are girls”?

What about Ocasio-Cortez’s performance at the southern border as she cried over the horror of an empty parking lot while calling for an immigration policy that was more porous than a slice of Swiss cheese?

Yes, “Woke One” was crazy, but Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is Woke One! She might have gone through a few rounds of media training to appeal to voters outside of the Bronx, but she not only remains an advocate of “Woke One” but also of “Woke 2.0”!

Woke 2.0 is the same as Woke One if you randomly visit Iowa and replace your transgender flag with the Palestinian flag.

Please, please, please don’t let her gaslighting fool you: Ocasio-Cortez remains the face of Woke. And that face is, indeed, crazy.
