Anyone Still Remember the Arab Spring?

Has there ever been an American president more spectacularly wrong than Barack Hussein Obama, along with the gaggle of equally clueless officials in his administration?

“For all the challenges that lie ahead, we see many reasons to be hopeful. In Egypt, we see it in the efforts of young people who led protests. In Syria, we see it in the courage of those who brave bullets while chanting, ‘peaceful, peaceful.’ In Benghazi, a city threatened with destruction, we see it in the courthouse square where people gather to celebrate the freedoms that they had never known. Across the region, those rights that we take for granted are being claimed with joy by those who are prying loose the grip of an iron fist.” —Barack Obama, May 19, 2011

Has there ever been an American president more spectacularly wrong than Barack Hussein Obama, along with the gaggle of equally clueless officials in his administration? The speech this paragraph was taken from cannot be underestimated in terms of its ignorance and naiveté. In Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohamed Morsi — Obama’s go-to guy despite his reference to Jews as “bloodsuckers” and the “descendants of apes and pigs” — was elected, quickly seized new powers, and was ultimately dumped by Egypt’s military in July of 2013 after only a year in office. Morsi’s successor, General Abdel Fatah el-Sisi, a courageous man who has risked his life criticizing radical Islam, wondering why “the ideology we sanctify should make our entire nation a source of concern, danger, killing, and destruction all over the world,” was promptly snubbed by Obama who cut off aid to Egypt, energizing that nation’s contempt for America. Conditional aid was resumed in April of this year, but not before Vladimir Putin entered the vacuum created by Obama’s arrogance and established a new relationship with that nation.

Following Putin’s visit to Egypt in February, the New York Post’s Benny Avni spelled out the long-term implications. “While the Obama team tilts at windmills, the Russian president is well on his way to reversing a decades-old triumph of US diplomacy — and shifting the region’s balance of power his way,” Avni explained.

In Syria, the courage of those who ostensibly braved bullets has not only turned to abject despair, it has led to a massive migration of refugees from there and Libya into the European Union — one that ISIS is already attempting to exploit.

Robert Spencer reveals the dark implications, noting that more than 400,000 refugees have streamed into Germany alone in 2015. “The country expects a total of around 800,000 people to seek asylum in Germany this year,” Spencer writes. “And that’s just Germany. The entire continent of Europe is being inundated with refugees at a rate unprecedented in world history. This is no longer just a ‘refugee crisis.’ This is a hijrah.”

Hijrah refers to the migration of Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to Medina in 622 AD. What Spencer means is that Europe may not realize it yet, but it has just embraced demographic and cultural suicide.

And like night following day, Putin is once again exploiting Obama administration officials for the weak-kneed, know-nothings they truly are. “Unconfirmed reports about Russia possibly planning to expand its military support for Syrian President Bashar Assad has prompted a warning from the U.S. that such actions could lead to a clash with coalition forces,” Fox News reports. “The State Department issued a statement after Secretary of State John Kerry called Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to express concern over the rumors ‘suggesting an imminent enhanced Russian military build-up’ in Syria.”

Is there anything more toothless than a warning from any Obama administration official, headlined by Barack “Red Line” Obama?

“This metastasizing catastrophe (of mass migration in the EU) is not the result of famine or drought or disease,” columnist Michael Goodwin so deftly explains  “It is man-made and should have been prevented. But that would have required leaders with the moral conviction of Roosevelt and Churchill. Instead, America and Great Britain are led by frat boys. Barack Obama and David Cameron indulged themselves in the delusion that human nature had magically changed and the world would take care of itself while they gutted the arsenals of democracy. History will record their fecklessness, and that of France, Germany and the other once-great powers. That is, unless history itself is erased by the madmen of Islamic State.”

Bengahzi? Less than four months after Obama spoke about freedom’s celebration in that city, four Americans — Ambassador Christopher Stevens, State Information Officer Sean Smith, and Navy Seals Glen Doherty and Tyrone S. Woods — were murdered during a terrorist attack. And no amount of media-abetted obfuscation will change the reality that administration officials, led by the president and Hillary Clinton, initiated one of the most despicable and throughly debunked disinformation campaigns in the history of the nation to distance themselves from that colossal failure.

As for the rest of Libya, it remains a nation in chaos. Two competing governments formed by rebel groups that helped topple Muammar Qaddafi in 2011 are attempting to keep the “JV team” of ISIS from adding another revenue stream to its multi-nation operation, courtesy of Libya’s oil production.

Here’s another astounding paragraph from that same speech by Obama:

“So far, Syria has followed its Iranian ally, seeking assistance from Tehran in the tactics of suppression. And this speaks to the hypocrisy of the Iranian regime, which says it stands for the rights of protesters abroad, yet represses its own people at home. Let’s remember that the first peaceful protests in the region were in the streets of Tehran, where the government brutalized women and men, and threw innocent people into jail.”

Let’s also remember that when the Iranian people engaged in those peaceful protests and were brutalized by their own government, Obama backed the government. "It’s not productive, given the history of U.S.-Iranian relations, to be seen as meddling — the U.S. President meddling in Iranian elections,“ he stated on June 16, 2009. A week later, Obama finally acknowledged the scope of Iranian brutality. "The United States and the international community have been appalled and outraged by the threats, beatings and imprisonments of the last few days,” he stated.

Six years later, outrage has become appeasement, and while Obama was securing the final vote from the Treason Party to prevent an override of his Iranian deal, Iranians were making an utter mockery of it. Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan vowed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would not have access to all the sites it wanted to inspect, and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps' top commander in Tehran province, Brigadier General Mohsen Kazzemeini, told units training in the nation’s capitol that “they (the US and the Zionists) should know that the Islamic Revolution will continue enhancing its preparedness until it overthrows Israel and liberates Palestine.”

One of Iran’s accomplices, better known as Secretary of State John Kerry, admitted "it is probably fair to say something may find its way to some bad or nefarious activity, but the activities that we have objected to that Iran has engaged in, are not fueled primarily by money.“ John is right of course. Iran’s activities are "fueled” by a nihilistic version of Islam that requires a period of orchestrated cataclysm to make way for the re-emergence of the Mahdi or Hidden Imam and the establishment of a worldwide Muslim Caliphate.

The effort to reach that goal is underwritten by money. Perhaps someone might ask John what the Obama administration is willing to abide as acceptable number of American or Israeli casualties directly attributable to the freeing up of funds for “nefarious activities.” Aside from their support of Syria, Iran has made attempts to ship arms to both Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as the Houthi rebels in Yemen, which borders Iran’s principal Middle East rival, Saudi Arabia.

Last month Obama insisted Iran tried to restrain the Houthi uprising in 2014. He further insisted that effort suggested to him that Iran, while malevolent, is ultimately rational. “It’s on that basis that we entered into the interim agreement,” he said.

Obama’s characterization of Iranian involvement with the Houthis stands in stark contrast to one made by American officials back in March. “Iranian smugglers backed by the Quds Force, an elite international operations unit within Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, are using small boats to ship AK-47s, rocket-propelled grenades and other arms to replace older weapons used by the rebels, a senior American official said. Using intercepted cellphone conversations between the smugglers and Quds Force operatives provided by the Americans, the Yemeni and Indian coastal authorities have seized some shipments, according to the American official and a senior Indian official,” the New York Times reported.  This followed a 2013 report by CNN, revealing the capture of a weapons cache, including surface-to-air missiles, explosives and rocket-propelled grenades, seized from a ship off the coast of Yemen. The markings on those weapons indicated they came from Iran, according to an Obama administration official.

Two different reports by American officials, versus an assertion by a president with a long track record of lying. A president  who has been determined to get any deal with Iran by any means necessary. A president whose monumental arrogance led to withdrawing American troops from a “stable” Iraq in 2011, jump-starting the rise of ISIS and a 35 percent increase in global terror between 2013 and 2014, according to a State Department report. “More trends from the report included a rise in lone wolf violent extremists in the West, ISIS seizure of an unprecedented amount of territory in Iraq and Syria and a continued flow of foreign terrorist fighters joining ISIS from around the world,” NBC News reports.

Who to believe? I’ll go with Goodwin. “Obama has been a gift to the worst of the world, topped by his surrender to Iran,” he writes. “He and the quislings masquerading as the leaders of Europe see no evil as Iran spreads its tentacles. Sooner, on their own, or later, with America’s blessing, the mullahs will have their doomsday weapon.”

Arab Spring equals hope and change equals progressive ideology. It doesn’t get more stupendously bankrupt — and potentially catastrophic — than that.
