Trump Takes on Taxes

President Trump addressed workers Wednesday at the Loren Cook Company in Springfield, Missouri. He chose the 76-year-old manufacturing company with 1,000 employees to stress the importance of tax reform in creating good-paying jobs here in America.

In his remarks, President Trump outlined four principles for tax reform:

First and foremost, our tax system should benefit loyal, hardworking Americans and their families. That is why tax reform must dramatically simplify the tax code, eliminate special interest loopholes… And allow the vast majority of our citizens to file their taxes on a single, simple page without having to hire an accountant.

Second, we need a competitive tax code that creates more jobs and higher wages for Americans… We cannot restore our wealth if we continue to put our businesses at such a tremendous disadvantage. We must reduce the tax rate on American businesses so they keep jobs in America, create jobs in America, and compete for workers right here in America…

The third principle for tax reform is a crucial one: Tax relief for middle-class families… We will lower taxes for middle-income Americans so they can keep more of their hard-earned paychecks… We believe that ordinary Americans know better than Washington how to spend their own money, and we want to help them take home as much of their money as possible…

Fourth and finally, we want to bring back trillions of dollars in wealth that’s parked overseas… We can return trillions and trillions of dollars to our economy and spur billions of dollars in new investments in our struggling communities and throughout our nation…

> My administration is embracing a new economic model. It’s called very simply: The American Model. Under this system, we will encourage companies to hire and grow in America, to raise wages for American workers, and to help rebuild our American cities and communities. That is how we will all succeed and grow together, as one team, with one shared sense of purpose, and one glorious American destiny.

While the details of the plan will be negotiated with Congress, President Trump’s tax reform principles are terrific! If a plan similar to this passes Congress, I believe the economy will be booming in short order.

Members of Congress are still home for the August recess. Let them know that you want tax reform done! Tell them to stop punishing success. Tell them to pass pro-family, pro-growth reforms that will boost our economy, simplify the tax code and make America great again!

Left-Wing Hate

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) bills itself as an anti-hate group, but in fact it is promoting hate of Christians and conservatives, and even Muslims who want to reform Islam. The SPLC links mainstream conservative groups like the Alliance Defending Freedom and the Family Research Council, which I led for ten years, to real hate groups such as the KKK and neo-Nazis.

The Washington Free Beacon has done a tremendous examination of the SPLC’s publicly available tax documents. There are lots of interesting details.

The group is massive. It is rolling in money, with $380 million in assets. Immediately after the Charlottesville rioting, the SPLC put the screws to top corporations, shaking them down for donations. In many cases, it wasn’t a tough sell. Our corporate elites are often left-wing. Apple CEO Tim Cook, for example, donated $1 million to the SPLC after Charlottesville.

But what caught my attention in the Free Beacon report was this fact: The SPLC is regularly sending large sums of money to offshore foreign accounts. What charity does that? Tax experts interviewed by the Free Beacon were stunned.

Amy Sterling Casil, CEO of a nonprofit consulting firm, said, “I’ve never known a U.S.-based nonprofit dealing in human rights or social services to have any foreign bank accounts… It is a huge red flag.” Casil called the practice “unethical” for a charity, adding, “I know of no legitimate reason for any US-based nonprofit to put money in overseas, unregulated bank accounts.”

Kudos to The Washington Free Beacon for this excellent example of real journalism. Of course, you won’t hear about this on the evening news or read about it in The New York Times or The Washington Post.

Speaking of Shady…

The Left is once again proving its utter obsession with identity politics. Earlier this week, the Women’s March tweeted out a list of organizations “working to keep immigrant, Black, Latinx & other communities safe after Hurricane Harvey.”

Seriously?! Even in the middle of this tremendous tragedy, the Left insists on dividing the victims by race.

Not surprisingly, Linda Sarsour got in on the act too. Sarsour, as you may recall, is a radical Palestinian activist and a leader of the Women’s March.

Sarsour tweeted, “Donate to the #Harvey Hurricane Relief Fund.” But anyone who clicked on the link was directed to a myriad of left-wing “community organizing” groups. There is no indication at all that any money donated through Sarsour’s link would actually go to hurricane relief.

And her record in this regard is not good. After several Jewish cemeteries were vandalized, Sarsour was quick to launch an online “Muslims Unite to Repair Jewish Cemetery” campaign. According to The Algemeiner, more than $160,000 was raised, but only $50,000 was donated. And one historic Colorado cemetery that was promised $100,000 never saw a dime.

Politico Piles On

As the ACLU recently learned, many leftists see a little white toddler with an American flag as a symbol of white supremacism and a threat to the Republic. Not surprisingly, the typical Texas couple are now targets of left-wing vilification, even if they are in danger of drowning in a hurricane.

Check out this disgusting cartoon from Politico.

Drawn by Matt Wuerker, it shows a white Texas couple being rescued from the roof of their home. Then it proceeds to mock their faith and political views. This repulsive cartoon is an attack on millions of people, including thousands of Texans who are facing the biggest crisis of their lives.

If someone produced a cartoon mocking black families in New Orleans during Katrina, such a disgusting caricature would be roundly condemned and the cartoonist would be unemployed.

In the unlikely event that Mr. Wuerker is feeling badly about his insult to flood victims, I would like to hook him up with the good folks in the Cajun Navy so he can do some community service this holiday weekend.
