Left-Wing Discrimination
Last month, a worker at Hasta Muerte Coffee in Oakland, California, refused to serve a police officer. In fact, the officer was told to leave because Hasta Muerte believes that a “police presence compromises our feeling of physical & emotional safety.”
Last month, a worker at Hasta Muerte Coffee in Oakland, California, refused to serve a police officer. In fact, the officer was told to leave because Hasta Muerte believes that a “police presence compromises our feeling of physical & emotional safety.”
According to CNN, the officer who was denied service just happens to be the president of the Latino Police Officers Association of Alameda County. So far, there is no outrage from local officials and no plans by state bureaucrats to sue the coffee shop into bankruptcy, as was done to a Christian florist in Seattle and bakers in Oregon.
Oakland is a left-wing city in a left-wing state. Its mayor shields criminal illegal immigrants. A majority of the Oakland Raiders football team refused to stand for the national anthem. No doubt men who think they are women can use women’s bathrooms in Oakland.
This is what the Left does. It turns normalcy upside down.
There is zero chance Oakland would tolerate any business owner who said, “We will not serve criminal illegal immigrants in our coffee shop.” And I have no doubt that there would be zero tolerance from Oakland officials if a Christian baker refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.
In America’s culture war, the Left’s highest value is not equality or even tolerance. The Left is extremely intolerant of anyone who does not share its radical ideology.
The Left discriminates against conservatives.
The Left discriminates against Christians.
The Left discriminates against blacks.
And, at least in Oakland, it seems the Left is perfectly happy discriminating against police officers, even if they happen to be Hispanic.
By the way, President Trump used his weekly radio address to attack the Left’s misguided sanctuary policies. Here is a brief excerpt of the president’s remarks:
Sanctuary jurisdictions are the best friend of smugglers, gang members, drug dealers, human traffickers, killers, and other violent offenders. We want our cities to be sanctuaries for Americans, not safe havens for criminals. That is why I am calling on Congress to block funds for jurisdictions that shield dangerous criminals. It is time to end the bloodshed brought about by reckless sanctuary policies — and it is time to save American lives and American cities.
Mixed Messages
President Trump continued to take fire from the Left over the weekend for his decision to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Its arguments, however, continued to be contradictory and confusing.
Ben Rhodes, one of Obama’s top national security officials, told ABC’s “This Week” that dealing with North Korea wasn’t “a real estate deal or a reality TV show.” Rhodes insisted, “You need diplomats.”
Right. The same “experts” who for the past 30 years did nothing about North Korea. The “diplomats” gave us a nuclear-armed North Korea.
By the way, if you ever see Ben Rhodes on your TV, change the channel immediately. He lied to reporters and deceived the American people about Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran. Rhodes has zero credibility.
In addition, some on the Left suddenly seemed worried about the president going soft on foreign dictators.
That’s strange. The Left wasn’t worried when Barack Obama was appeasing Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. The Left wasn’t worried when Obama was caving in to the Castro brothers. The Left wasn’t worried when Obama was showing his flexibility for Vladimir Putin.
In addition, The Washington Post was bemoaning the fact that Trump was putting down conditions that he wanted to ensure were met. The Post headline suggested the president might be having “cold feet,” while the column implied the conditions might jeopardize the talks.
The media’s mixed messages simply prove once again that the resistance to Trump trumps everything else. The Left and its media allies will turn on a dime depending on what the president is doing.
Pence to Behar: Apologize
Disney CEO Bob Iger took some heat at a recent shareholders meeting for the way his company, which owns ABC, has handled Joy Behar’s disgusting insult of Vice President Mike Pence and millions of American Christians. As you may recall, Behar suggested that Pence was suffering from a mental illness for listening to God.
Iger noted that while he disagreed with Behar’s comment, she had personally apologized to the vice president and that was enough for him.
Of course, Vice President Pence graciously accepted Behar’s apology. But according to the White House, Pence also “encouraged her to make the same apology publicly on the show that she did privately to him.” So far, Behar is refusing an on-air mea culpa.
More than 30,000 Christians have contacted ABC to express their outrage at Behar’s bigotry. I am pleased to report that our friends at the Media Research Center are turning up the heat.
Click here to find contact information for “The View’s” top advertisers. Please take a few moments to defend our faith. Politely but firmly tell these companies that you are offended by Behar’s mocking of men and women of faith. Tell them that you will not support companies that tolerate religious bigotry.
