The New and Improved Trojan Horse

There is no question that those on the Left have employed Covid to serve their own foul purposes.

Although young people may know that a Trojan horse refers to a program designed to breach the security of a computer system while ostensibly performing some innocuous function, they are probably unaware of the fact that it has an historical origin.

A few thousand years ago, in order to gain entry to the gated city of Troy, Greek soldiers concealed themselves inside a huge wooden horse. The Trojans were so delighted to find this gift from a secret admirer, they opened the gate and rolled their imminent ruination right into town.

It is from this event we have come to say, at least in less politically correct days, that one should beware of Greeks bearing gifts.

Even people who don’t own computers are aware that a Trojan horse has come to describe a person or thing that’s intended to undermine or bring about the downfall of an enemy. I believe that is a perfect description of the Covid/Delta virus.

There is no question that it has taken its toll, particularly among the elderly and those with faulty immune systems, especially when coupled with a pre-existing condition, such as cancer, hepatitis and heart disease.

But there is also no question that those on the Left have employed it to serve their own foul purposes. They have, for openers, used it to subjugate us, forcing us into isolation, unemployment and depression. That established their ability to use fear to even deny us our constitutional guarantees regarding freedom of speech, religion and peaceful assembly.

They even managed to steal a presidential election by scaring people away from polling places, ushering in a hundred million mail-in ballots that were unrequested and, worse yet, unverifiable.

The Left has us so bamboozled that at the same time that they had the rest of us hiding in our homes, wearing masks, they were able to encourage young black thugs to riot and plunder to their hearts’ content.

Showing their utter contempt for their subjects, the leaders of the mob — governors, mayors and Anthony Fauci — kept showing up at restaurants, hair salons and baseball games, unmasked and, even when found out, unembarrassed.

But in fact it’s the rest of us who should be ashamed of ourselves. We have acquiesced in our own subjugation and barely raised an objection. At least, we in California, of all places, are putting Gov. Gavin Newsom through the wringer, forcing him to defend himself against a recall election.

I don’t see that happening in New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Virginia or Illinois. What is wrong with you people? Time to get cracking and it shouldn’t be over some cocked-up sex scandal.

When CNN boss Jeff Zucker discovered that three of his employees were coming to work unvaccinated, he announced that he had terminated them.

Most people naturally assumed that meant they were no longer working for the cable network. But I’m not so sure. Generally, the verb on such occasions is fired, axed or canned.

Now perhaps I’ve seen one too many James Bond movies, but termination strikes me as something far more serious than merely losing one’s job.

Plus there is nothing evil I would put past the likes of the woke elite. In fact, I will confess that all through Donald Trump’s presidency I thought assassination was not out of the question.

Fortunately, it seems that, in spite of the corruption that has affected the FBI, the CIA , NSA and the IRS, the Secret Service is the one agency that appears to have remained immune to contamination by the Left.

Some pieces of legislation require in-depth analysis before you can decide if it’s a good bill or a bad one.

But sometimes, as was the case with Obama’s Affordable Care Act and now with Biden’s Infrastructure bill, the mere length (approximately 2700 pages in both cases) tells you all you need to know. Delve deep enough into such huge slabs of pork and you will find the legislators have actually included the kitchen sink.

It is also worth noting that two senators who originally objected to passage of the measure suddenly switched sides. Their Republican constituents should demand an explanation from John Cornyn of Texas and Deb Fischer from Nebraska. And the answer better not be that Mitch McConnell persuaded them.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), there have been 3,715 incidents involving unruly airline passengers since January. In most cases, I assume it’s safe to assume that consumption of alcohol was the reason, although canceled and postponed flights; the serpentine security lines; and short-tempered clerks at the car rental agencies, all may have been contributing factors.

On one recent flight, a 22-year-old moron who had obviously over-indulged in his favorite beverage, groped a couple of stewardesses, no doubt imagining he was the governor of New York. He got his just deserts when the male steward wrestled him into submission and then wrapped him up in duct tape.

How many times have we had to cope with loudmouths, lousy drivers and Democrats, and said to ourselves, “Someone should wrap that idiot up in duct tape,” and finally someone did. So if you wish hard enough and pray long enough, miracles are still possible.

Perhaps if we all do it at the same time, it will make a difference. So, all together now: “I want to see Nancy Pelosi wrapped up in duct tape, head to toe, and mailed back to San Francisco.”

Even with his political future hanging in the balance, Gov. Newsom just signed a bill reducing penalties for sodomy with minors.

The bill gives judges discretion to decide whether adults who commit sodomy with minors should be placed on California’s sex offender registry.

It is clearly a bone tossed to the pedophiles in Newsom’s base. Many of whom are wealthy and use their money to buy influence with the likes of Newsom and other spineless, left-wing governors.

In the words of State Senator Scott Wiener, who introduced the legislation, “The new law would put an end to blatant discrimination against LGBTQ people engaged in consensual activity.”

It is still unlawful for heterosexual adults to engage in sexual activity with minors, consensual or otherwise, but in 2021, that cuts no ice with those who dance to the gay pipers’ tune.

There is someone at a bar in Indian Hills who must never sleep because he keeps coming up with puns that he sticks on his billboard.

Since I don’t live anywhere near, I depend on Bill Coté to keep me up to date.

These are the most recent postings:

“When you teach a wolf to meditate he becomes aware wolf.”

“The girl in the middle of the tennis court is Annette.”

“Water is heavier than butane because butane is a lighter fluid.”

“My son wants to study burrowing rodents. I told him to gopher it.”

“I’m reading a book called ‘Quick Money for Dummies’ by Robin Banks.”

“Nothing tops a plain pizza.”

“When you said life would get back to normal after June, Julyed.”

“Be careful when you eat at Sam & Ella’s Diner.”

“I never finish anything. I have a black belt in partial arts.”

“What do you call a hippie’s wife? Mississippi.”

“Fungi puns are my least favorite. There’s too mushroom for error.”

Greg Palko passed along a meme that’s timely, considering that Joe Biden is taking victory laps after the recent employment report.

“Closing businesses and then allowing them to reopen is now called ‘Creating Jobs.’”

Yet another reminder: If you plan to renew your subscription, let me know by return email, and then mail me a check asap so I can avoid the usual log jam at the end of August. Believe it or not, there is a great deal of paperwork involved in processing the checks. Plus I make it a point to let people know that their checks arrived in spite of the Post Office’s usual attempts to impede the process.

If you could possibly have it done by the 17th of August, when I’m scheduled to have the third stent inserted, I would be extremely grateful.
