Heartbreak in the Heartland
In every little town and hollow they sang a familiar song of love to their Creator.
There are heartbreaking and horrifying videos coming out of the heartland of America. Devastating tornadoes hit Friday evening, causing severe damage in several states.
Particularly hard hit was my home state of Kentucky. The little city of Mayfield was practically leveled. In Bowling Green, at least 12 people died and many more were injured. People lost loved ones, their homes, their jobs — and all this just a couple of weeks before Christmas.
I know these people. I grew up with them. I know their hearts. I wasn’t surprised to see the first things they did in the aftermath of the carnage and devastation.
They found American flags and put them back up wherever they could — where schools or churches had stood just days before. They put up folding chairs Sunday morning where their church used to be. They joined hands to praise God, the same God who over 2,000 years ago sent us His only Son to save us from our sins.
We live in a time when multimillionaire athletes won’t stand for the flag, when sophisticated elites mock the faith of people like those in Kentucky. But in every little town and hollow they sang a familiar song of love to their Creator:
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host:
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Many of these communities haven’t grown much over the years, but many of us were raised in these places and still cherish the values we were taught there.
God help America if we ever abandon the values of Mayfield, Bowling Green and thousands of similar towns. God help America if we ever run out of these God-fearing men and women.
A Hip Hop Nativity?
If you don’t think there are two Americas, take a deep breath and ponder this. According to Todd Starnes, Saturday Night Live broadcast an outrageous skit this weekend in which “Baby Jesus twerked while Mother Mary twirled on a stripper pole and ‘Baby Daddy’ Joseph did a ‘pimp walk.’”
This would be disgusting anytime. But to do it on the weekend when so many fellow Americans were picking up the pieces of their shattered lives and relying on their faith in the Christ Child is beyond disgusting.
In fact, I would say it is a hate crime, certainly more so than anything that happened to Jussie Smollett. It’s impossible to imagine any comedians doing a skit like this unless they actually despise Christians.
In fact, I guarantee you that if Saturday Night Live had mocked Muslims, we would have already heard from Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Ilhan Omar and others that this kind of bigotry can’t be allowed in America. But, once again, we see how acceptable it is for our coastal elites to mock Christians.

Smoke & Mirrors
The Biden regime is more interested in smoke and mirrors than substance. When a migrant tent city emerged under a Texas bridge, resources were quickly mobilized, not to deport the migrants, but to move them out to other areas across the country just so there wouldn’t be any more images of migrants crammed under the bridge.
There was another visual in recent months that caught the public’s attention — the backlog of dozens of container ships waiting to unload at the port of Los Angeles. The Biden White House struggled for a solution. Eventually, its “best idea” was to convince dock workers to work 24/7 until the number of ships waiting to unload went down.
And it seems that the number of ships waiting off the coast has in fact started to go down. But the backlog of vessels hasn’t gotten any better. In fact, it’s gotten worse. How can that be?
Well, what’s really happened is that Biden officials have just pushed the ships further out to sea so you can’t see the logjam.
According to the Wall Street Journal, container ships have been ordered to slow down their trans-Pacific trek from Asia to Los Angeles. Ships are taking twice as long to make the voyage. They’ve also been ordered to stop further off the coast.
One month ago, 86 ships were waiting to unload inside a 40-mile zone off the California coast. Today, 96 ships are waiting to unload as far out as 150 miles! But in “Biden World,” we’re supposed to believe this is better.
Meanwhile, there’s a bigger problem Biden can’t hide. Inflation is running at a 40-year high, and Americans see it everywhere they go — the gas station, the grocery store, restaurants, Christmas shopping. Prices are up everywhere, and up big.
CBS News reports that according to one estimate, “expenses for a typical American family have shot up by about $4,000 in the past year.”
The latest ABC News poll finds that 69% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of inflation, which essentially boils down to more big government spending. I have no idea why Biden thinks we can inflate our way out of an inflation crisis, but that’s exactly what he’s proposing, and the American people don’t like it.
Biden Takes A Pass
Joe Biden turned down an invitation to attend the annual Army-Navy football game this weekend. Donald Trump loved attending these games, the recruits loved him.
Of course, I can’t prove it, but it is widely assumed that Biden would have gotten at best a lukewarm welcome from the men and women who will be future officers of our military. Some feared he’d get a less than lukewarm welcome.
But I think I can make an educated guess. Biden knows the humiliation of the Afghanistan withdrawal and the 13 caskets bearing the remains of dead servicemen and women still burns in the minds of the young future military leaders attending the Army-Navy game.
He knows his appeasement offends those willing to give their lives for our country. He knows that he is totally marginalized among any group of Americans who believe America must come first.
So, the commander-in-chief did what he does so instinctively — he hid rather than risk facing the reaction and wrath.
Confronting Communist China
Kudos to NBA legend Dominique Wilkins! The Basketball Hall of Famer is standing with Enes Kanter Freedom to confront communist China’s genocide and human rights abuses against the Uyghurs.
In a video Kanter Freedom posted this weekend, Wilkins states:
“History is written in two ways: One, you can sit on the couch and watch how it’s written. Or two, you can do something about it and write history. Which side are we taking? What is happening to the Uyghur people is one of the worst human rights tragedies in the world today. We cannot stay silent.”
Wallace Goes “Home”
Chris Wallace finally left Fox News and went “home” to where his heart has been for a long time — CNN. The straw that broke the camel’s back was reportedly Tucker Carlson’s documentary on what actually happened on January 6th. Wallace furiously complained about Carlson, and then stormed off to CNN.
Let’s see, that’s the network with one commentator who was suspended for exposing himself on a Zoom call. Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo was fired for helping to discredit the female victims of his brother’s sexual assaults. And Cuomo’s former producer was arrested over the weekend, allegedly for grooming and molesting underaged girls.
Well, at least Wallace can be comfortable at CNN knowing that no one there is questioning the January 6th narrative.
