Late Thursday evening, news broke that a Manhattan grand jury, under the direction of Soros-funded District Attorney Alvin Bragg, has issued a formal indictment against former President Donald Trump. America is in dangerous, uncharted territory.

Never before has a former president or leading presidential primary candidate been indicted. We have a long tradition in America of not criminalizing politics. But, like every other tradition and standard of normalcy, the left has now shattered that, too.

And the Deep State has meddled in yet another election.

Notice that, once again, we were lied to and deceived. Just 24 hours prior, we were told that the grand jury wasn’t meeting on this case, and no action, if any, was expected until after an extended break. That was obviously a lie and subterfuge. As I noted earlier this week, that’s what the neo-Marxist left does — it lies all the time.

No matter what you might think of Donald Trump, no one should be applauding this indictment. Some on the left are saying, “No one is above the law.” This isn’t about the law.

This is an outrageous abuse of the law. This is about raw political power. It’s about influencing the next election.

As my good friend Mark Levin put it, America has now taken a terrible leap down the path of tyranny. It is no exaggeration to say that America is truly at a tipping point.

The Double Standard

Let me remind you that former Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance refused to prosecute this case. The Justice Department refused to prosecute this case. And even Alvin Bragg himself once refused to prosecute this case.

Hillary Clinton essentially committed the same offense when she covered up payments for the bogus Russian dossier. Her campaign was fined. There was never any serious consideration of indicting her.

The FBI has been sitting on Hunter Biden’s laptop for years with all its evidence of highly suspect activity, and there’s no hint of any looming indictment. The double standard of justice reeks of crass political corruption.

To appreciate how much of a perversion of justice this is, just consider Nancy Pelosi’s reaction to the news. She tweeted, “No one is above the law, and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence.” As usual, she’s got it exactly backwards.

In America, you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. It is not Trump’s responsibility to prove his innocence.

That may be how the neo-Marxist left does things in their kangaroo courts and Stalinist show trials. But that is not how justice works in the United States of America!

Rapes, assaults, auto thefts and robberies are rampant in New York City. But Alvin Bragg is suddenly determined to put Donald Trump behind bars. Sure. Makes perfect sense. Of course, it doesn’t!

Trump Responds

As you might expect, President Trump quickly fired back, denouncing Bragg and the left’s ongoing witch hunt. Here’s an excerpt of Trump’s statement:

“Never before in our Nation’s history has this been done. The Democrats have cheated countless times over the decades, including spying on my campaign, but weaponizing our justice system to punish a political opponent, who just so happens to be a President of the United States and by far the leading Republican candidate for President, has never happened before. Ever.

"Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, who was hand-picked and funded by George Soros, is a disgrace. Rather than stopping the unprecedented crime wave taking over New York City, he’s doing Joe Biden’s dirty work, ignoring the murders and burglaries and assaults he should be focused on. This is how Bragg spends his time!

"I believe this Witch-Hunt will backfire massively on Joe Biden. The American people realize exactly what the Radical Left Democrats are doing here. Everyone can see it.

"So our Movement, and our Party — united and strong — will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden, and we are going to throw every last one of these Crooked Democrats out of office so we can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Republicans React

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy blasted the injustice and demanded accountability, saying:

“Alvin Bragg has irreparably damaged our country in an attempt to interfere in our Presidential election. As he routinely frees violent criminals to terrorize the public, he weaponized our sacred system of justice against President Donald Trump.

"The American people will not tolerate this injustice, and the House of Representatives will hold Alvin Bragg and his unprecedented abuse of power to account.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis condemned the indictment as “un-American,” declaring:

“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American.

"The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.

"Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda.”

Former Vice President Mike Pence denounced the indictment, saying:

“The American people are going to look at this and see it as one more example of the criminalization of politics in this country… I think this is an outrage…

"The message that this sends … is a terrible message about the American justice system… The idea that for the first time in American history, a former president would be indicted on a campaign finance issue, to me, it just smacks of political prosecution…

"This is a bad decision, by a political prosecutor. And I think the American people are going to see right through it.”

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said the indictment was “more about revenge than it is justice.”

Rep. Jim Banks tweeted, “This isn’t just an indictment of President Trump, it’s an attempt to intimidate anyone who goes against the Left’s radical regime!”

Wallace Whiffs On Rights

MSNBC trotted out Religious Left leader Jim Wallis to lecture America on the Nashville Christian school shooting. I’m very familiar with Wallis and his twisted, leftist view of the Bible. But I wasn’t quite prepared for just how far off base he was this time.

Incredibly, he compared the Second Amendment to Moloch, claiming that Republicans are worshiping guns. “Guns are our new Moloch,” Wallace said. “Guns are the Moloch. We are sacrificing our children to Moloch.”

No, Reverend Wallis, the Second Amendment is a protected constitutional right. Abortion is our new Moloch, and the left is literally sacrificing, and even gleefully sacrificing, hundreds of thousands of innocent children every year to abortion on demand!

Poll Position

President Joe Biden’s ratings have fallen in yet another national survey. The latest Gallup poll finds Biden’s approval rating is just 40%. Only 32% of Americans approve of his handling of the economy.

Meanwhile, the latest Fox News poll finds that Donald Trump’s support is surging among Republicans. Among a field of 15 possible 2024 GOP primary candidates, Trump leads Ron DeSantis 54% to 24% — a whopping 30-point margin. No other candidate received double-digit support.

That represents a 15-point swing toward Trump from last month’s Fox News poll, suggesting that the earlier news of a potential indictment by Manhattan’s Soros-funded prosecutor likely boosted Trump’s standing.

• Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed legislation into law preventing boys who claim to be girls from using girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms.
• Kentucky enacted legislation protecting children from mutilating transgender surgeries. The bill only became law after conservative legislators overrode the veto of Kentucky’s liberal Democrat governor.
• Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed legislation protecting houses of worship from discriminatory restrictions during state emergencies.
• West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice signed legislation protecting children from mutilating transgender surgeries.
• Two more pro-abortion radicals have been arrested and charged for attacks on pregnancy resource centers in Wisconsin and New York.
• The “Trans Day of Vengeance” has been canceled.
