On the warfront with violent thugs, there was good news this week. In Virginia’s capital city of Richmond, police proactively responded to a tip and most certainly thwarted a mass assault planned for a crowded July 4th venue.

According to Chief Gerald Smith, a tip from a “hero citizen” on July 1 led to a quick investigation by his department and other agencies: “One phone call saved numerous lives on the Fourth of July. The success of this particular investigation can only be juxtaposed against the horrors of which the rest of the country has seen. There is no telling how many lives this hero citizen has saved from one phone call.”

Likewise, Gov. Glenn Youngkin said: “l want to thank and applaud the hero in Virginia that stopped a potential massacre by alerting our brave Richmond Police Department Officers that work tirelessly every day to protect our communities. It’s a great reminder that if you see something, say something to your local PD.”

Police arrested two illegal immigrants from Guatemala who had acquired firearms and ammunition they planned to use for an attack on those attending the July 4th celebration at the Dogwood Dell amphitheater.

“This is where these cowards go,” said Smith. “Wherever we gather, this is where they want to be.” He added, “We know what their intent was but we don’t have a motive.”

The two men were charged with illegal possession of firearms by non-U.S. citizens — but not with illegal immigration, because the Biden administration has stopped prosecuting that offense. Defying all logic, bond was set at a mere $15,000 for one of the men, but it is not clear if he has been released.

Smith noted that the two men arrested had been deported several times but continued to reenter the nation illegally, understating the fact that it is “frustrating” that they could repeatedly violate the law and now plan a mass murder.

No word yet regarding whether they most recently reentered the country among the millions of illegal immigrants who have been deliberately invited by Joe Biden to cross our now-open and increasingly bloody southern border. Clearly, our unsecured southern border is a mortal and moral hazard.

Notably, the successful Richmond law enforcement response stands in stark contrast to the Uvalde, Texas, response, where we now know law enforcement hesitation in defiance of established “active shooter” protocols cost lives. It stands in stark contrast to the Highland Park, Illinois, response — like Uvalde, yet another case of a sociopathic mass shooter already known to police but not “red flagged.”

Of course, hindsight in both Highland Park and Uvalde is always 20/20.

Predictably, Richmond’s leftist mayor, Levar Stoney, trotted out the Demos’ boilerplate “gun problem” rhetoric, insisting there was an “epidemic” of mass shootings nationwide and calling for more gun control.

In fact, there is not actually an “epidemic” of mass shootings, though, as I have thoroughly documented, Biden and his Demos unleashed a record surge in violence that continues in 2022, including more than 21,000 murders last year — mostly committed by thug, drug, and gang subculture sociopaths. They are responsible for the daily carnage on the Demos’ urban poverty plantations across our nation.

As I noted regarding the Highland Park assailant: “There are lost tribal legions of faithless, empty-souled sociopaths roaming our streets. They are sponges bloated with toxic culture poisoning, who embrace a cult of violence. These mass assault sociopaths, and thousands of other murderous thugs nationwide, are the effluent of the unchecked cultural degradation eroding the foundational fabric of our nation. Until that culture is reined in, these assaults will continue unabated.”

As for real epidemics, last year there were more than 107,000 Americans who died from drug overdoses, primarily fentanyl. Most of those drugs, and the criminal thugs and human traffickers muling them, crossed Biden’s open southern border. And he’s inviting thousands more every day.

Oh, and according to the CDC, there is another actual national epidemic. More than 140,000 people die from alcohol use every year, but I suspect if Biden and his cadres were asked to give up their Chardonnay, they would protest.

And a footnote on firearms: Despite the best efforts by Demos and their MSM publicists, according to the latest polling, only 3% of Americans list guns among their highest concerns.
