On Saturday, October 24, Florida parents gathered at a Winter Park soccer field to watch their children play. One player stood out: a three-year-old whose ball control far surpassed that of his teammates and opponents. He wasn’t just keeping up with the five-year-olds; he was schooling them.

In typical fashion for peewee soccer-aged children, this little black boy was subbed out and had to sit on the sidelines to let other teammates have a turn on the field. Parents with kids in the i9 sports league are informed of this going in. Here are the two pertinent league rules:

  • Everybody plays. Every game!
  • There are No Tryouts, No Drafts, and No Fundraisers!

If you’re not familiar with recreational league soccer, the structure is simple. Because these young children are just learning the fundamental skills of the sport, everyone gets a turn to play. Not every child will go on to compete in higher-level soccer — the rec league is just for fun. Furthermore, the previously mentioned three-year-old wasn’t playing club soccer, which is pricier and requires tryouts to make the team. It was supposed to be a typical Saturday of peewee soccer, but for the child’s parents, it wasn’t.

Reports say the parents were upset that their child had to sit out part of the game and verbally attacked an official for correcting their son, who was pushing other players on the field. The cops were even called on the parents for being abusive to the sports league director, Thomas Hayes — who is also black. The verbal attacks were so severe that the league decided these weren’t the kind of folks they wanted participating in their program.

Because of the parents’ behavior, their child was banned from the league, and the whole family was asked to leave the premises. When police arrived, the parents had just started spreading the narrative that their son was targeted for being “too good.” They also painted a sympathetic story for the Internet, saying the league called the cops on their son “because he had the ball for too long and nobody else can get the ball.”

That is not a thing — not in a rec league, and not even in club soccer. No one gets the cops called on their kid because said child is “too good.” The cops wouldn’t even respond to a call like that. Now, will police get dispatched because some parents are being aggressive and belligerent toward a league director? Absolutely. The cops will arrive, break up the scene, and ensure that the situation deescalates.

But guess who did believe the parents’ heavily edited video and even added to the leftist victimhood narrative? Ms. Rachel, your everyday friendly radical-leftist YouTuber indoctrinating your infant children one video at a time. Ms. Rachel quickly jumped on social media when the video of the little boy began to go viral, adding her voice to the mix and amplifying the claim that this was racism. She wrote:

I’m LIVID! Please sports people, give him all the experience and love. @nevadaney10 We’d love to have him on our show to share his amazing skills. I need sports people to show up for him. Recently there was a 1 year old boy who experienced racism during a library event with a puppet and we are showing up for him because we are puppet people 🥰 I need my sports people to show up!!! This is racist, sick, traumatizing and disgusting.

The most important aspect of this is that Ms. Rachel claimed it was racism, which even the parents weren’t claiming. Did she assume it was racism because the child is black? If so, isn’t that racist?

This incident wasn’t even about the child or his exceptional soccer skills. It was about parents misbehaving at a soccer game and ruining it for their son. Here’s the police bodycam footage to show the other side of the story:

Nevertheless, Ms. Rachel refuses to back down from her histrionics.

The boy’s parents even started a GoFundMe page to help him get another chance to play the beautiful game. That isn’t wrong in and of itself — the little guy truly is talented and should have opportunities to pursue a more competitive league, which can be cost-prohibitive for most families. What is wrong is these parents refusing to admit they were the problem, and Ms Rachel refusing to denounce her claim of racism.

If these parents can’t admit they were at fault, this pattern will continue everywhere they go, and that child’s chances will be stunted at the root. As for Ms. Rachel, getting all the emotions and assumptions on the Internet before the facts were made evident is a rookie leftist move. In other words, she fell for the classic blunder.

With apologies to Vizzini, a character in “The Princess Bride”: Never get involved in a land war in (Florida) and never go against a Sicilian (bodycam videos and Internet sleuths) when death (an accusation of racism) is on the line!
