Haley Stevens is no Whittaker Chambers, but she’s reaping a similar whirlwind.

One of the recurring themes within Chambers’s Witness, the 1952 autobiographical masterpiece of his departure from the Communist Party, is the author’s fear of being murdered for his apostasy. Chambers had good reason to be fearful. Indeed, he cited multiple examples within his memoir of fellow communists who’d been “disappeared” for the high crime of having left the party.

Chambers ultimately avoided that fate, and he bravely bore witness to the Communist Party’s infiltration of our federal government by Alger Hiss and others during the Roosevelt administration. Similarly, Stevens — who lost narrowly to Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan’s August Democrat Senate primary — is now bearing witness to the infiltration of the Democrat Party by Jew haters like Hasan Piker and his fist-bumping bestie, the aforementioned El-Sayed.

As Stevens posted in a video yesterday: “Our Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, Abdul, said that I was no longer welcome in his campaign and that I should stay away, and he’s right. And that’s why I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today.”

Wow. In a political climate such as this, Stevens’s statement is a modern-day profile in courage. And one need only look at the over-the-top reaction from leading Democrats to see what I mean. “Haley Stevens has chosen to dangerously betray Michigan families’ healthcare, freedoms, and future with her horrific endorsement of Mike Rogers.”

Nancy Pelosi’s use of words like “dangerously betray” and “horrific endorsement” is both intentional and despicable. In an age when her fellow leftists seek to settle their political disputes by repeatedly trying to assassinate Donald Trump and by celebrating the successful assassination of Charlie Kirk; in an age when college campuses like that of the University of Michigan have become increasingly and nakedly hostile toward both Jews and conservatives, Pelosi should know better than to inflame her party’s shock troops any further.

Pelosi wasn’t alone, though. Far from it. “This is a betrayal of all you’ve represented in the past and all the people that supported you,” posted longtime Democrat operative Neera Tanden. “Mike Rogers has a run a hateful campaign. I hope Abdul has a strong victory on Tuesday. What you’ve done today is an abomination.”

Then there was would-be Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer — a self-hating Jew if ever there was one — who had this to say: “This is a despicable betrayal from Rep. Stevens. Senate Democrats are united in our support for Abdul El-Sayed, because we know he will fight for the economic interests of working families in Michigan, unlike Mike Rogers, who is a tool of Donald Trump and billionaire donors.”

It seems that the Democrats now look upon Stevens with the same combination of contempt and disgust that Detroit-area Muslims like El-Sayed reserve for the blacks whose city they’re conquering day by day, precinct by precinct.

My point here is that leftists are different than us. They can tolerate neither political opposition nor disloyalty from within. And they believe that political violence — that is, political terrorism — is both a useful and a justifiable means of stifling dissent both from without and within.

What’s at stake tomorrow? Only everything. If Chuck Schumer is the Senate majority leader, Bernie Sanders will chair the Budget Committee, and Elizabeth Warren will chair the Banking Committee. And a notoriously dim bulb, Hakeem Jeffries, will be speaker of the House and will set the legislative agenda in our nation’s capital for the next two years. And you can be sure that during those next two years, the Democrats will do everything they can to hamstring our nation’s economy and inflict as much pain as possible on the American people, all while blaming it on Donald Trump and thereby sabotaging the possibility of a Republican replacing Trump in 2028.

And if Abdulrahman Mohamed “Don’t Call Me a Democratic Socialist Even Though I Most Definitely Am a Democratic Socialist” El-Sayed is elected as the next senator from Michigan — even as his sister was placed on the terrorist watch list during the Obama administration, and even as El-Sayed himself once wrote a letter to the editor in support of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt — then our nation has far greater problems than I’d ever fathomed.

Kudos to Stevens for speaking out. And shame on the rest of the Democrat Party for putting rank politics over the Jew-hatred that plagues their once-decent party.
