GOP Platform Counters Years of Democrat Destruction
The list of Republican objectives almost couldn’t be more different from the Left’s disastrous record.
It’s a shame anyone has to say anything about any other story than Joe Biden’s manifest unfitness for office — the Parkinson’s kerfuffle being the latest car pileup in the slow-moving train wreck that followed his debate implosion. The sheer panic and terror coursing through the veins of every Democrat and every media figure is hilarious, and every eyeball is affixed to that right now. Who wants to get in the way while Democrats are destroying themselves?
Nevertheless, given that Biden is just the figurehead and the real crisis facing America is that he’s governing to the left of Bernie Sanders at the behest of an increasingly radical Democrat Party, the good news is that the Republican National Convention begins next Monday in Milwaukee, and the party released its platform yesterday. There is a real alternative and hope for the country.
Unfortunately, most attention is fixed on how the GOP laid out its milquetoast stance on abortion, an issue Democrats have exploited for political advantage ever since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. In this analysis, I’m going to focus elsewhere, but suffice it to say that though Donald Trump often boasted about being “the most pro-life president” ever, he is not a true social conservative — or at least that’s not what he truly cares about. He’s more concerned with the politics of blunting the feverish cries from feminist abortion zealots than he is with motivating pro-lifers by taking a rock-solid position on the issue of life in the womb.
Here’s the Republican National Committee’s list of 20 priorities:
- SEAL THE BORDER, AND STOP THE MIGRANT INVASION
- CARRY OUT THE LARGEST DEPORTATION OPERATION IN AMERICAN HISTORY
- END INFLATION, AND MAKE AMERICA AFFORDABLE AGAIN
- MAKE AMERICA THE DOMINANT ENERGY PRODUCER IN THE WORLD, BY FAR!
- STOP OUTSOURCING, AND TURN THE UNITED STATES INTO A MANUFACTURING SUPERPOWER
- LARGE TAX CUTS FOR WORKERS, AND NO TAX ON TIPS!
- DEFEND OUR CONSTITUTION, OUR BILL OF RIGHTS, AND OUR FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS, INCLUDING FREEDOM OF SPEECH, FREEDOM OF RELIGION, AND THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS
- PREVENT WORLD WAR THREE, RESTORE PEACE IN EUROPE AND IN THE MIDDLE EAST, AND BUILD A GREAT IRON DOME MISSILE DEFENSE SHIELD OVER OUR ENTIRE COUNTRY — ALL MADE IN AMERICA
- END THE WEAPONIZATION OF GOVERNMENT AGAINST THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
- STOP THE MIGRANT CRIME EPIDEMIC, DEMOLISH THE FOREIGN DRUG CARTELS, CRUSH GANG VIOLENCE, AND LOCK UP VIOLENT OFFENDERS
- REBUILD OUR CITIES, INCLUDING WASHINGTON DC, MAKING THEM SAFE, CLEAN, AND BEAUTIFUL AGAIN.
- STRENGTHEN AND MODERNIZE OUR MILITARY, MAKING IT, WITHOUT QUESTION, THE STRONGEST AND MOST POWERFUL IN THE WORLD
- KEEP THE U.S. DOLLAR AS THE WORLD’S RESERVE CURRENCY
- FIGHT FOR AND PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE WITH NO CUTS, INCLUDING NO CHANGES TO THE RETIREMENT AGE
- CANCEL THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE MANDATE AND CUT COSTLY AND BURDENSOME REGULATIONS
- CUT FEDERAL FUNDING FOR ANY SCHOOL PUSHING CRITICAL RACE THEORY, RADICAL GENDER IDEOLOGY, AND OTHER INAPPROPRIATE RACIAL, SEXUAL, OR POLITICAL CONTENT ON OUR CHILDREN
- KEEP MEN OUT OF WOMEN’S SPORTS
- DEPORT PRO-HAMAS RADICALS AND MAKE OUR COLLEGE CAMPUSES SAFE AND PATRIOTIC AGAIN
- SECURE OUR ELECTIONS, INCLUDING SAME DAY VOTING, VOTER IDENTIFICATION, PAPER BALLOTS, AND PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP
- UNITE OUR COUNTRY BY BRINGING IT TO NEW AND RECORD LEVELS OF SUCCESS
As insane as it is, every one of those issues illustrates a stark contrast with the Democrats. They are responsible for the border crisis, runaway inflation, the decline of manufacturing, rampant crime, electoral insecurity, and cultural devolution. Joe Biden is to blame for much of the chaos erupting worldwide because it’s a consequence of the erosion of American leadership.
Biden may be replaced as the Democrat nominee, though he is fighting mightily to make sure that doesn’t happen, but the real problem is his party. Its members still control the Senate and aren’t far from a majority in the House. Democrats control numerous state governorships and nearly every major city in the nation. From those positions, they are doing immense damage to Liberty and to every more specific issue on the Republican list.
Even so, most Republican voters feel like the party has been losing on that list of issues for the last four years, if not for the last three decades. What changes will come with a rather vague platform full of bromides about fixing stuff? Heck, the platform promises not to do a thing regarding the two biggest drivers of the federal debt — Social Security and Medicare. You can’t “Protect Social Security” or “Strengthen Medicare,” both subsections of the platform, by doing nothing.
Complaints and concerns aside, the best evidence of what another Trump presidential term could accomplish is this comprehensive evaluation of Trump’s record Mark Alexander wrote the week Trump departed Washington: “Perhaps Trump’s most obvious leadership ‘style’ was that he was a bomb dropper. The day he arrived in DC, he dropped a bomb on the Beltway status quo in Congress and its special interests. He dropped a bomb on the regulatory behemoths and their bureaucratic bottlenecks. He dropped a bomb on the trade and national security institutions and alliances that failed miserably over the previous eight years. And he dropped a bomb on all the pundits and mainstream media outlets.”
Alexander added, “The net results of Trump’s carpet-bombing of the DC establishment is that he left office with an extraordinary list of accomplishments eclipsing those of every president since Ronald Reagan.”

A second Trump term will undoubtedly be different, if only because the nation faces different — or simply worse — challenges. But the platform is meant as a loose guideline for an approach that almost couldn’t be more different from the Democrat record of destruction.
