Weirdo Walz Dodges Deployment

It appears that Kamala Harris’s VP pick has been lying about his military record.

Tim Walz is weird. At least, we suspect he’s viewed that way among the voters he hopes to court.

Kamala Harris’s vice-presidential pick made headlines a few weeks ago when he began attacking Donald Trump and JD Vance with that same word. The poll-tested insult caught on, and Democrats have been trotting it out ever since.

And just yesterday, Walz doubled down: “I just have to say it,” he said to a raucous Philly crowd. “You know it. You feel it. These guys are creepy and, yes, just weird as hell.”

Whoa, there, fella. Like I always say: Weirdos who live in weird houses shouldn’t throw weird stones. Let’s go to the tape.

A few weeks ago, Walz watched Joe Biden poop his pants on the debate stage with Donald Trump and thereafter declared, like Kevin Bacon in Animal House, “All is well!” He fought tooth and nail for the genital mutilation of children, and he ordered that tampons be placed in grade school boys’ bathrooms. He decries racism and promotes “equity and inclusion,” and yet he took part in a racist fundraising campaign called “White Dudes for Harris,” in which he told his fellow beta males, “Don’t ever shy away from our progressive values. One person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness.” And, finally, he scolded Republicans to “mind your own damn business” yesterday while conveniently ignoring the fact that he encouraged his fellow Minnesotans to pick up the phone and snitch on their neighbors if they dared leave the house without a face diaper.

Weird, huh?

Even weirder, Governor Snitchy McTampon has, by his own admission, taken more than 30 trips to Communist China. Does that seem perhaps a bit excessive, especially on the salary of a public school teacher? Heck, he even honeymooned in China, kinda like ol’ Bernie Sanders honeymooned in the Soviet Union. Why, it’s almost as if socialist Bernie and social-studies Timmy were fellow travelers. Almost as if Walz were being groomed. Far be it from us to suggest that Kamala’s colleague is a useful idiot, or commie-symp stooge, or, worse, a Manchurian candidate. But if the Mao suit fits, he should wear it.

But perhaps weirdest and most infuriating of all, Walz has been bragging about his service in the Army National Guard. And he’s been doing so despite the fact that when his unit got orders to Iraq in 2005, he ditched them, retiring before they deployed, even though he was a senior NCO.

In a 2018 letter, a group of retired Command Sergeants Major of the Minnesota National Guard tried to set the record straight, writing, “Tim Walz has embellished and selectively omitted facts and circumstances of his military career for years,” adding, “He makes it sound like he ‘retired’ a year before his battalion deployed to Iraq; when in reality he knew when he ‘retired’ that the battalion would be deployed to Iraq.” The command sergeants major concluded:

The bottom line in all of this is gut wrenching and sad to explain. When the nation called, he quit. He failed to complete the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. He failed to serve for two years following completion of the academy, which he dropped out of. He failed to serve two years after the conditional promotion to Command Sergeant Major. He failed to fulfill the full six years of the enlistment he signed on September 18th, 2001. He failed his country. He failed his state. He failed the Minnesota Army National Guard, the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion, and his fellow Soldiers. And he failed to lead by example. Shameful.

Perhaps the artful dodger didn’t want to find himself, in John Kerry’s words, “stuck in Iraq.”

To be fair, Walz never petitioned his commanding officer for a Purple Heart when he got a little sliver in his arm, but he did make an interesting comment recently about gun control. As The Washington Free Beacon reports, Walz says he supports what all leftists support — so-called “common sense legislation” that “protects the Second Amendment,” in addition to “extensive background checks.” But in arguing for this, he stepped into the slime of stolen valor: “We can make sure those weapons of war, that I carried in war, is [sic] the only place that those weapons are at.”

As JD Vance noted of his vice-presidential counterpart in the Detroit suburb of Macomb County this morning:

He said — and he was making a point about gun control — that we shouldn’t allow weapons that [he] used in war to be on America’s streets. Well, I wonder, Tim Walz, when were you ever in war? What was this weapon that you carried into war, given that you abandoned your unit right before they went to Iraq, and he has not spent a day in a combat zone? What bothers me about Tim Walz is the stolen valor garbage. … I’d be ashamed if I were him and I lied about my military service like he did.

These are good questions, and we’d say Walz has some ‘splaining to do. Gun-grabbing is a disqualifying issue to many Americans, and stolen valor is a very serious charge. Perhaps Walz could ask his fellow Democrat, Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal, about this.

In any case, we’d say Walz owes the American people some answers most ricky-tick, as early voting in the swing state of North Carolina begins in just four weeks.
