WaPo’s PA ‘Stop the Steal’ Concession and Cultural Friendly Fire

Some Democrats are finally calling out the party radicals.

Two weeks after the election, Democrats are still reeling. However, introspection has taken hold in some surprising circles, the Washington Post editorial board being among them. On back-to-back days last week, the rag’s editors actually mildly excoriated their own party’s radical wing.

The first editorial — “Needed: A respectful debate on trans women in sports” — talks about an issue that Kamala Harris avoided like the plague during this year’s presidential campaign: transgenderism.

This losing issue for the Democrats was most plainly pointed out by Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA), who boldly stated: “Democrats spend way too much time trying not to offend anyone rather than being brutally honest about the challenges many Americans face. … I have two little girls. I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat, I’m supposed to be afraid to say that.”

While the WaPo editors cautioned, “Trans people deserve to be treated with dignity, and the law should protect them from discrimination in areas such as employment and housing,” they also concede that “the realities of human biology raise legitimate questions about any notion that trans women should always and everywhere be treated exactly like cisgender women.”

This is a major concession to be voiced by a source like The Washington Post. One wishes the outlet would pursue this acknowledgment even further, like stipulating there is also a vigorous debate to be had about the validity of “gender-affirming care” and “transing the kids.”

The other editorial in which WaPo commits friendly fire pertains to the voting shenanigans in Pennsylvania, where Democrat incumbent Senator Bob Casey trails GOP challenger Dave McCormick by just 17,400 votes as of this morning, yet despite the race being called by most networks, Casey and his voting-oversight lackeys keep trying to pull a fast one by demanding invalid votes be counted. Here is what the editors had to say about the Keystone State “Democrats thumb[ing] their nose at the rule of law”:

Before the Nov. 5 election, Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court ruled that provisional ballots must be signed in two required places and that mail-in votes must be dated. Yet elected Democratic officials in Philadelphia and three other counties — Bucks, Centre and Montgomery — voted [last] week to defy these and other court decisions at the request of lawyers for Democratic Sen. Bob Casey… These Democrats’ decisions will almost certainly be overturned on appeal, but the mere attempt to defy judicial rulings is corrosive to democracy and invites similar behavior in future elections.

Lo and behold, thankfully, the Associated Press reports, “Pennsylvania’s state Supreme Court on Monday weighed in on a flashpoint amid ongoing vote counting in the U.S. Senate election between Democratic Sen. Bob Casey and Republican David McCormick, ordering counties not to count mail-in ballots that lack a correct handwritten date on the return envelope.”

What makes the Washington Post editorial so fascinating is that this newspaper represents a political party that has openly discussed packing the Supreme Court because, currently, the majority of the justices are originalists who prioritize the Rule of Law. Ironic, I know.

But not all legacy media outfits are waking up to reality. Leftist radicals like White House press secretary-turned-MSNBC propagandist Jen Psaki are calling for the Democrats to double down on the transgenderism issue.

Psaki is trying to pull the “it’s a nonissue because the number of males in female sports is so small that it’s not worthy of discussion” routine. As Not the Bee puts it, “It’s not a big issue … so Democrats REALLY need to make it a big issue? That’s the plan here? Can she not see that this is exactly why they lost?”

There is a lot of soul-searching left to do in the Democrat Party. One can only hope that it moderates its positions. Democrats following the lead of their most radical voices is alienating them from the majority of the American people. The Washington Post editorial board more or less admitting as much is a pretty interesting step in the right direction.
