Two Christmas Movies, Two Very Different Messages

Exploring the powerful contrast between “The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever” and “Dear Santa.”

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas trees are going up, snow is falling, carols are being sung, and the halls are decked. Little ones are making their lists to send to Santa, excitedly waiting for the night when the big, jolly guy in the red suit comes barreling down the chimney to deliver the items they have asked for.

The holiday season is primarily focused on gift-giving and acts of service and often ignites a surge in kindness and compassion among friends, neighbors, and even strangers. Arguably, it shouldn’t take an ambiance of Christmas decor or cards filled with glad tidings to inspire people to treat others with kindness at a specific time of year. However, in an increasingly divided society, we will take the wins where we can.

As with everything the woke Left and the Hollywood elite get their hands on, the spirit of the Christmas season is often a target of their depravity. It is unsurprising, as they have become known for degrading anything that might inspire society to be wholesome and embrace a higher moral standard.

Kids cannot just enjoy the idea of Santa and the joy he brings to children around the world each year. Now, they must be open to the idea that Satan can bring their hopes and dreams to life in the same way.

This seems to be the intended message of the latest Christmas movie to emerge from the dark corners of the entertainment industry, with the release of the film “Dear Santa” starring self-proclaimed Satan enthusiast Jack Black.

The production focuses on a dyslexic boy named Liam. As he writes his letter to Santa, he spells Father Christmas’s name wrong and addresses his letter to Satan instead. Satan then appears in Liam’s room and pledges to grant him three wishes, after which he will take the boy’s soul.

The two engage in silly antics throughout the movie, intended to make the audience laugh and soften the idea that hanging out with the devil might not be a bad thing. Black’s character grants Liam what he believes will make the boy happy: money, fame, and popularity. Yet he eventually concedes that the boy is “incorruptible.”

While many might see this as a harmless piece of entertainment, the darker truth is that this is one more instance to add to a growing list of times the woke Left is trying to popularize the idea of aligning with the devil. They blur the lines between choosing evil over good, continuing to peddle the lie that it makes no difference to the outcome.

If we take a walk back through recent history, there is an undeniable pattern of attempting to normalize demonic figures and ideas.

There was the Target debacle of “Pride Month” 2023. The company partnered with an LGBTQIA activist and self-proclaimed Satanist to design pins and accessories for the children’s line of their Pride collection featuring the demon Baphomet.

The uproar caused by Balenciaga, just months before the Target controversy, was another incident that left the public wondering who would make such disturbing marketing decisions. In the luxury brand’s “Satan’s Playroom Collection,” a young child is seen standing in the middle of a room that appears to show several intentional references to the devil himself.

Lastly, there has been the exposure of several after-school Satan clubs in elementary and middle schools. The goal is to give every developing child an opportunity to participate in demonic activism.

With the emerging trend of devil worship occurring throughout many aspects of society, the natural progression of things would be to hang out with Satan for the holidays.

Thankfully, conservative warriors are working to preserve traditional values and create wholesome content that encourages kids and families to cling to messages that are good and true and strive to steer humanity in the right direction.

Dallas Jenkins, director of “The Chosen,” is one of those warriors. This year, he has released a counter-film to the dark themes of Dear Santa — a movie called “The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever.”

Based on the published 1972 book of the same name, written by author Barbara Robinson, the story follows a group of siblings, the Herdmans. Despite their reputation as the “worst kids in the history of the world,” they land the leading roles in the community’s annual Christmas pageant. The director of the play is now faced with the challenge of creating an uplifting performance for friends and neighbors to enjoy while using kids who can’t seem to resist acting on their disruptive and destructive tendencies. This causes a series of catastrophes that threaten the whole production.

However, throughout the film, we see the community start to show love toward this little band of misfits. The Herdmans also begin to soften their own mindset and develop a desire to contribute to the Christmas pageant in a positive way.

The story’s message is that Jesus Christ’s birth has the power to touch everyone and is the one truly unifying event that has historically and consistently brought people of all backgrounds and experiences together.

This holiday season, we are being presented with two Christmas movies with two very different messages. Based on the relentless efforts of the increasingly depraved Left, it would be easy to assume that “Dear Santa” would be the film with positive ratings from the public.

However, based on the audience scores from the popular movie review site Rotten Tomatoes, “Dear Santa” has a rating of just 24% with viewers. In comparison, “The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever” has reached 91% approval with movie-goers.

Perhaps there’s hope for us yet!
