Van Jones: Tea Party Is Fighting Middle Class; Time for the Rich to Pay America Back
Former Obama environmental adviser and “green jobs czar” Van Jones spent more time venting about his disgust of the Tea Party. His latest hate rhetoric echos the voice of what many left-wingers keep insisting today: The Tea Party is the problem and “the rich” need to start doing their fair share of giving back.
In this 2-minute video, Jones calls the Tea Party economic ideas as “alien to the American experience” who want nothing more than to destroy “The American Century” and middle-class Americans:
They want to repeal the American Century. They want to repeal all the achievements of the American people and yet they want to say they’re the only Patriots in the country. I think that’s wrong.
Further, Jones argues that “the rich” have benefited enough from tax breaks and the time has come for them to start paying America back:
People doing well in America should do well by America. Period. … When they do badly they shouldn’t be expected to pay America back. But when they start doing well again they should pay America back. That’s what’s fair.
So there you have it. The Tea Party, fighting for limited government and free market ideas, is to blame for what is wrong with this country – even though those principles are what made America great to begin with. So is the issue a matter of Tea Party hate towards the middle class? Or frustration towards a voice that will stand up to fight “change” we can’t believe in?
We think the answer’s pretty simple. But we’ll let you decide…
